the officers were chasing the suspect because they believe he was in a stolen car. they say they do not know if he had a gun. enss describe a chaotic scene. >> i walked the dog coming around the corner a white van coming peels around the corner with police cars. i then heard a crash and boom, boom, boom. i got to the cop there were cop cars all over the place and helicopters flying all over. >> c.h.p. officer is part of an auto theft task force in san mateo county. he was with two other officers from two different police agencies. they chased the suspect from san mateo county into san francisco. the officer who was hurt is expected to be okay. they have not released any information about the suspect, who he is, how old he is, those identifying details. i amy hollyfield reporting from

running this morning. >> a north bay baby kidnapped by his own mother is safe after a dramatic rescue in sierra county. look at this photo, the firefighter is holding the baby, seven months old henry massey, carried in a duffle bag by a william unknown to the residents of a small town. that is what authorities stepped in. here is katie marzullo. katie: it was 3:00 in the afternoon in sierra county and a plain clothed c.h.p. officer saw a woman would looked like 35-year-old hannah ashley wanted in the abduction of her 15-month-old son. he walked up to her and identified himself as an officer and he heard crying from inside the bag she was carrying. she took off running and he caught up with her. they struggled. other officers arrived and they wrestled the bag away from her. baby-i was inside.
