this is abc 7 mornings. good morning, it is saturday, october 29th. i'm chris nguyen. let's start with the first look at the forecast. here's meteorologist lisa argen, tracking the conditions where you live. hi, slas. >> good morning to you. it is foggy with just one mile visibility up in santa rosa, a lot of cloud cover along the coast, five miles half moon bay, but elsewhere, it's not bad. a few peeks of sun, in the north bay, getting some rain. higher elevations looking quite misty and damn, it is the activity, the bulk, northern california. look at mount tam, showers and the next couple of hours, the morning will be damn, especially in the north bay.

low 60s in san jose. the camera there, you can see the fog there. showers throughout the morning hours. clouds in the afternoon, and another muggy afternoon. another storm heads our way, in about 20 hours or so. i'll time it out coming up. chris. lisa, thank you. we have developing news out of fairfield this morning. police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead. it happened last night, just before 10:00 at an apartment complex on alaska avenue. police have identified the victim as a 26-year-old man from san francisco. his name is not being released it. no word yet on any arrests. in the south bay this morning, police are investigating a double stabbing. it happened inside valley fair mall in san jose around 7:30 last night. two men were stabbed, neither of their injuries are considered to be life threatening. this is video showing one of the five suspects being taken away in handcuffs. police have not released their

ages, but all of them appear to be young. police say two groups got into a fight in the mall and the fight spilled into the bath and body works store. >> is it doesn't look like a group of people looking for another group. it looks like they were locking eyes and it just escalated. >> police are still investigating what started the fight. right now, they do not know if it was gang-related. officers say they have everyone involved in custody. in richmond, police and the chp are investigating a shooting on interstate 580, happened around 8:00 in the westbound lanes near harbor way. the freeway was closed for about 25 minutes, as officers collected evidence. no word on possible injuries or suspects. now to that bombshell october surprise in the race for the white house. we've learned a sexing probe has left to that fbi investigation into hillary clinton's e-mails. with just ten days to go into election day, clinton's campaign

happened. abc 7 has the details. >> reporter: friends and family arrived with flowers to pay their respect. his wife has asked for privacy and also asked neighbors not to speak to the media. but one man did describe the scene he asked not to be identified. >> i witnessed about eight police officers at the house, and i assumed something tragic had happened. >> reporter: two other neighbors told me they heard about five or six gunshots, the police tell us, he was killed on his porch, and they have little information to go on. >> there is a person who says they saw possibly a white car leaving the area about that time, and someone thinks they saw somebody running on the block around that time. but that's it. >> reporter: 62-year-old james gilliand was an intellectual property attorney. his law firm released a statement that read in part, jim was an absolute pillar of our law firm. trusted colleague and close friend, as well as mentor and

october rains are a welcome sight. nearly one year ago, the bulk of the state was in severe, extreme or exceptional drought. the department of water resources said it was a snow drought with meager participation. with this weekend's storms, they say it is the pattern that is perfect. >> it allows soils to be wet and soak up water like a sponge, so when we get the snow in december and january, we're not losing the moisture out of the snow to the ground. we allow that then to run off in the spring. >> officials expect snow in the sierra nevada. here in the bay area, you're keeping an eye on fog. >> that's right, 46 minute delays at sfo. it is too warm for snow in the sierra nevada. it is rain anything parts of the

take a look at this. investigators say an uncontained engine failure led to yesterday's fire that forced the evacuation of a plane at chicago o'hare airport. pieces broke off inside the engine and started shooting out, passengers say it happened during the safety presentation. 161 passengers and 9 crew members deplaned, sliding down the emergency chutes. 20 people were hospitalized with minor injuries. and new video shows the moment a fedex plane exploded in ft. lauderdale. it's landing gear malfunctioned causing a fire. most of the damage was done to the exterior of the fuselage.

the inning terror appeared to be undamaged. tesla ceo elon musk has unveiled a new solar roof project. instead of solar panels, he is offering solar tiles that would replace your roof. he made the announcement last night on the old set of "desperate housewives." he provided this video, part of his plan for alternative eco system. the solar roof would charge tesla's battery which would then charge the automobile. the owner of one of the top restaurants in the world is being sued by an ex-employee. the french laundry in yauntville is named. vanessa claims she was transferred. after she moved to california, she was told her position was no longer available. one of two popular south bay

restaurants that was closed throughout the day yesterday reopened last night for dinner. the hometown buffet on el camino reopened. but the one in san jose remains closed. laura anthony explains the reasons for the shut down. >> reporter: one by one, hometown buffet customers found themselves literally locked out. thanks to i a sudden closure at two south bay locations. >> that's crazy, because people on a friday afternoon the workweek, they would like to go out and eat, you know. >> reporter: at both capitol avenue and el camino in santa clear, there are red signs posted from the county, saying they are closed due to a rodent and/or pest problem. >> oh, i hope not. they should maintain that every month. the cockroaches, they need to do cleaning, period.

wet. you can see a little yellow here, so looking at geyserville and you can see the main activity continues to stream up to the north in this moist southwesterly flow, with that, the dew points and in between weather systems, and then this area of low pressure. cold low with a vigorous cold front that will bring gusty winds, downpours about 6:00 tomorrow morning. 1 on the storm impact scale. we'll have heavy downpours, chance of a thunderstorm, much, much colder air. looking at wind gusts in excess of 40 miles an hour, behind the front, and ahead of the front. not to say we're not looking at showers this morning. you can see we are from mount tam and for parts of the north bay, but the air mass still very moist, with low 60s, it hasn't changed for the past couple of days, but this will be the last day of very, very moist air. we're fogged in from this

vantage point, but 61 in concord, and nice view from santa cruz, 0.8, and you can see moisture on the lens. the next storm arrives tomorrow morning, looking at heavy rain, gusty winds and scattered showers. hour-by-hour forecast, starting with right now, you can see the coast, san francisco, into oakland, north bay, all the way down through perhaps half moon bay, santa cruz by 11:00. then by noon, they quiet down. possibility of showers out there, they'll be isolated, and then as we go into the evening hours, looks like the system will hold off. so we'll have cloudy skies, but the late overnight hours, north bay will begin to see wet weather. 2:00 a.m., until 6:00 a.m., you'll see wet weather. behind it, the breezy

good morning east bay. let's get up and get going. this is abc 7 mornings. i'm chris nguyen. we're starting this half hour with a look at the forecast. here's lisa argen tracking live doppler 7 for us. >> we have a smattering of showers, light, mainly in the north bay, and a little fog. here's live doppler 7. as we go in closer, you'll notice highway 101, up towards santa rosa and around heelsburg looking at wet weather, light mist and drizzle, and as we look outside in santa cruz right now, you see a few peeks of shun, but showers in the forecast for the first half of the day and then

clouds, less puddles but still muggy. another storm system on the way, including heavy downpours, gusty wu winds and snow in the sierra nevada. we'll have all the details coming up. breaking news out of the south bay. san hojose looking for a man wh shot and killed a man near 4th street. this is north of san jose's japan town and east of the airport. police say someone drove the victim to a hospital, where he is being treated for life threatening injuries. officers tell us the motive is unclear it. happening now, santa cruz police are cracking down this year on anyone who gets too rowdy this halloween. 18,000 people celebrated downtown last year. more than 100 officers will patrol the streets this weekend. right now, is there a safety enhancement zone to keep people out of trouble. the enhancement zone went into

teen will hold his fourth annual elaborate haunted house. it is located at 1048 perolta avenue, opened tonight and halloween neat. he is asking for a suggested donation of $5, half of all the money raised goes to the community food bank. guests visiting the white house will get a special treat during the holiday season. actors portraying past presidents can be seen around the white house. the executive mansion is also decorated for the occasion, with choirs providing mood music. dozens of people in one east bay city are complaining about their mail service, saying they don't get any mail for days at a time. some berkeley residents say mail has been delivered as late as 10:00 at night. one woman said she received 10 pounds of mail after nothing for

three days. it is a serious issue, especially for people who get their medications in the mail. >> one of the most frustrating parts, you can't get information. people are very concerned. they want to know what's going on. they're very sympathetic with the carriers, but they can't get through to the post office. >> congresswoman barbara lee is trying to get in touch with the postmaster for answers to the ongoing issue. 8:34 is the time. parties are back on at uc berkeley. they had a voluntary ban last week, after two women reported being sexually assaulted. hosts will give one to two-minute consent talks to partiers. they were drawn up by the fraternity council. there were 22 rapes reported on campus or student house anything 2015, according to the crime statistics. four rapes were reported off campus. we now know what killed the blue whale that washed ashore on

the coast. scientists from the marine mammal center and california academy of sciences completed it on the 65 foot whale thursday one day after it washed ashore. it died from injuries consistent with being hit by a vessel. the young male had multiple skull fractures. officials say the whale will be left on the shore to decompose naturally. shoppers are stunned to learn that two hawks soaring over head are new employees. their job is to dive bomb some unwanted visitors. abc 7 news reporter, leslie brinkley, explains. >> reporter: in this concrete canyon between nordstrom and macy's -- t.k. rules the roost. here, the hawk is stalking pigeons. >> the pigeons are smart and they get used to a fake owl and
