live where you live, this is abc 7 news. >> it may seem quiet, but it could be a different story when you wake up tomorrow. another round of rain headed our way, and it could impact your morning. once again, not much going on out there right now. drew tuma is here with more on what's heading to us. >> a temporary lull in the action today. a little bit of sun shine this afternoon, but now the clouds are filling back in and the rain is just beginning to move in to the northern california. doppler 7 showing you the bay is quiet, but this is the start of the next storm. it will intensify overnight tonight and move into the bay area. storm impact scale, this is a one. a light storm. we're tracking downpouring for sunday morning along with winds 20 to 30 miles per hour. gusts could be as high as 40

miles per hour along the coast. we'll give you an hour by hour and a chance of wet weather moving in on halloween. we'll have the details in a few minutes. >> the hunt for the shooter who murdered a prominent bay area attorney on the front porch of his home. tonight we have been talking with neighbors who heard the fatal gunshots that killed james gillelan. >> he had just returned home from a social engagement on thursday night. it was just a few minutes before 9 p.m. a couple of his neighbors told us today they remember the moment they heard the gunshots. >> a bouquet of flowers is near the door of his home. many in this quiet neighborhood are trying to decide why he was so brutally killed on his porch. down the hill residents that share a back fence say they're shocked at what happened. >> we heard two shots and then

three rapid ones. i felt like they weren't fireworks. >> it was specific. it was bang bang, bang bang bang. it was very quick. >> these two had just returned home for the night when they heard the gunshots. she immediately called 9-1-1. they say they have seen a suspicious vehicle near the street where he was shot, but they didn't think anything of it at the time. >> this black suv had been pulled over on the wrong side of the road with its lights on. >> it was parked the wrong direction. it was parked just in front of the fence. there's no houses. >> james was recently named one of the best intellectual property lawyers in the country and one of the board members of a school called roses and concrete. the founder says he's devastated. >> there are so many children and families and even teachers at the school that didn't even know jim, and wouldn't know him because he's so humble. >> the police say they hope the

public can help with tips or information to find anyone connected to this crime. abc 7 news. we learned tonight four richmond police officers will be fired for a sex scandal. the claims of having underage sex with law enforcement led to an investigation involving 11 officers. the original recommendation was to fire just one of the officers. tonight it's confirmed they've decided to fire three more and reprimand five others. tomorrow night, the case rocked local law enforcement agencies and she may not be the only one. we spend a friday night on international boulevard in oakland talking with some self-identified sex workers who say having sex with cops for money is nothing new in the bay area. a teenage boy skateboarding

was hit by an suv tonight. it happened at 2 2nd avenue in the sunset district. he had life threatening injuries. the driver of the suv stayed and cooperated with authorities. the race for the white house, hillary clinton demanded the fbi release the e-mailed that may or may not be connected to the investigation. as for the e-mails, clinton said it was strange timing for the foik to bring new life to the home server controversy days before the election. >> voters deserve to get full and complete facts. and so we've called on director comey to explain everything right away, put it all out on the table. >> the l.a. times reports the e-mails were not sent to clinton or even sent from clinton. they involved one of her top aids and appeared to be about what agents already knew.

four senators called on the fbi to release the information. donald trump called it the biggest political scandal since water gate. >> very, very serious things must be happening and must have been found. very, very serious things. >> tonight in phoenix trump continued to push the idea that the election is rigged. and that message is coming across one of his supporters in minnesota was arrested for voting twice. she told a radio station that she did it because the polls are rigged. donald trump says he gives a lot of money to charity. a new report shows he took credit for charity he hasn't given. "the washington post" called 420 charities connected to trump. they found he gave to just one of them. the report says he crashed an aids benefit and sat next to major donors when he hadn't given any money at the time. they discovered 70% of the

donations went to his own trump foundation. they said he has personally donated tens of millions of dollars to charitable millions of dollars. he has not released his tax returns. here in the bay area, early voting centers have been busy. we were at the assessor county clerk where there was a steady flow of voters. the biggest reason for voting now? it's more convenient. >> who knows what's going to happen on that tuesday. i work at a school. i am going to be there early. i'm probably going to be there late. >> the county elections mayor say it's easier to register online this year. we wered a the davidson courthouse. it's open for early voting through election day. if you live in alameta county,

this is the place to come in south san jose to get your scream on. the haunted house is the brain child of abe and mike. they invested their life savings, $100,000 into this crazy, scary, halloween haunt. but the bouts of bad luck just keep oncoming. >> this clips and locks at the top and side. they came in and took all of that off. >> reporter: on wednesday thieves stole speakers, cables, and destroyed property. this morning they came back, but security guards scared them away. >> we have thousands of dollars in this show, and it's sad that somebody is coming to take that from us. we're scared since there was a second attempt. >> they are upping security, but things still aren't looking good. ticket sales were already down and now recovering financially after the burglary, maybe too much. the family isn't sure if they can afford to do it again next

it sounds like my first boss. one of the great halloween haunts is back. the broken spine mine is created by a 16-year-old. each year he creates a terrifying attraction for his neighbors and raises money for hungry families. >> it's a year around process. we just start planning right after halloween is over and start building little projects

before parachutes and rockets slowed them down. reubens was the first person to sequence dna in space. another one down, 13 to go. caltrans destroyed another pier. it happened at 11:23 thing. the piers used to hold up the old eastern span of the bridge. the chp briefly stopped all traffic to make sure drivers weren't distracted or scared by the blast. the next six piers will be brought down next fall and the remaining in the fall of 2018. another round of rain is headed our way early tomorrow. and one city is training residents to prevent flooding by taking matters into their own hands. we have the story. >> reporter: rain was a morning

wakeup call on highway 101 wipers and headlights on. in san francisco crews were cleaning up this huge mess after a giant tree fell on guerrero street. nobody was hurt. >> i saved our house. this homeowner has come to the rescue of her neighborhood storm drain every time it pours. faithfully clearing out debris. kathy and her husband are adopting their storm drain. >> we're drain parents now. >> reporter: a new program teaching neighbors safe techniques to prevent flooding. >> we have a lot of drains to keep maintaining. we're asking for the public's help. >> reporter: sam is now ready and armed with a broom and leaf scooper. >> it's almost self-preservation. because it creeps up to the front yard. i'm a natural adopter.

the next storm system moves through. outside right now it's rather mild. a lot of cloud cover upstairs. most spots around 60 degrees. these numbers not falling much. we think another mild night is on the way. our storms rated all season long. the one coming tomorrow morning is a one. a light system with downpours first thing in the morning. the winds will pick up between 20 and 30 miles per hour. along the coasts gusts of over 40 miles per hour. there's a slight chance that we could have a clap of thunder. hour by hour on future weather. watch the time stamp in the corner. 6:00 sunday morning, the front is making its presence known through the north bay. it's a quick moving system. by it's beginning through the heart of the bay area. these pops of yellow on your screen are the heavier showers that develop within that line. by 10:00 in the morning it's moving into the south bay, and then it's out of here. by the afternoon widely isolated

showers throughout the bay area. in terms of rainfall, since this is a quick moving system, we're not talking high totals. i think a good estimate, between a quarter and half an inch of rain. likely spots in the south bay below a quarter of an inch where the system kind of falls apart as it enters the south bay. as we look at the sierra, a winter storm warning. 6 to 12 inches of snow and even around lake level, we could see three inches of snow. a welcome sight for winter lovers. 63 in san francisco tomorrow. about 64 for vallejo. we are tracking the chances of showers. into the afternoon, 54. we'll fine tune the forecast over the next 24 hours.

house for the second house. the father and son who ran it said someone stole equipment thursday and early this morning a security guard chased away a thief who was not arrested. tonight 20 people were injured evacuating a plane at o'hare airport after it caught fire yesterday. investigators say it appears a disk failed. the engine shot out the large disk sending it flying through the roof of a ups warehouse. a third of a mile away. no one was hurt by that disk. the toxicology report that the jose fernandes had cocaine and alcohol in his system during a boat crash. his blood alcohol was nearly twice the legal limit. two of his friends died when their boat hit a jetty off florida south beach.

a sheriff said he was supposed to take a call that killed one of his deputies. it happened near the oregon border. the sheriff says the deputy was working in the courthouse when he vol teefred to respond to the call. he says he thinks the suspect intentionally fired at his deputy because he too got into a shootout with the man. it has been tough without one of his best deputies. >> how are you doing? >>. >> that's a good question. i'm hanging in there and struggling through this. got a lot of people that really care. >> the sheriff arrested the suspect after a shootout. the deputy is just the second county law enforcement officer to die there since 1901. the first big rainstorm of

the season hit modesto. during a three hour period the city received about 1.2 inches of rain. it was too much for drains. several streets and parking lots flooded. >> it's overwhelmed the darainae infrastructure. and it's fall and there's leaves and it could plug up some of the streets. crews were forced to close at least one street in downtown modesto yesterday. the game of football is helping a high school in mississippi deal with what the naac sp calling a hate crime. students reportedly put a rope around a black football player's neck and tightened it. the high school football took the field. a player spoke to the players before the game. >> this is an opportunity for them to show not just to the community but the world how to overcome adversity when it approaches you. >> football brings everybody
