santa rosa you are getting your head wet and off the coast. in the sierra nevada still a winter weather advisory through 4:00. a mixture of rain and snow. so we will look at temperatures this morning much cooler want we were yesterday at this time. upper 40s to the upper 50s with a little bit of fog out there from concord, up through santa rosa. the forecast then this morning calls for some showers. the possibility of a thunderstorm. temperatures will be cooler and we will talk about the thanksgiving week just days away or thanksgiving day, i should say. carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. just in time, san francisco's winter shelter for the homeless will open this afternoon. spots will be available for single men at saint bonifice church. guests can stay in one place for seven days, will get two meals a day. signups will take place each sun

3:30 this afternoon at the 16th street bart station and end at city hall with a vigil. organizations that supply food for those less fortunate need your help this holiday season because they don't have enough food. case in point here at sacred heart community service necessary san jose. plenty of volunteers but only 1100 turkeys to fill 4400 turkeys. then as if on crew a car club came to the rescue dropping off 100 donated turkeys. we felt one member how she felt. >> fantastic because i have been where these people are. and i want to help because it makes a huge difference, food on the table. >> happening now, portions of the east sidewalk of the golden gate bridge are closed this morning while crews work on a light replacement project.

pedestrian will be able to access the sidewalk from either end of the bridge but they will only be able to walk as far as the closer area. today's closer will be at the south anchorage at the fort point arch. its expect today reopen at 10:00 this morning. the work will be postponed if it rains. >> now your accuweather forecast with lisa argen. >> we are getting a little bit of rain right on the bridge in a few minutes. here's live doppler 7. you see the green all around representing the heavier showers that are forecast to move through the bay area today. even a chance of thunderstorms. the atmosphere much, much cooler than it was yesterday and that's because we are behind the system that has dropped the temperature and sort of destabilized the atmosphere. right there there's a line of showers all set to move into the city. it's wet into marin county, san raw fell, highway one through novato and further to the north around santa rosa and pen drove. a few light showers. we are also looking at rain and

snow in the sierra nevada. you can see truckee, tahoe city. temperatures in the mid-30s. we have a winter weather advisory through 4:00 today. we will see a couple more inches at lake level but its really above 7,000 feet, 8 to 16 inches and 2 to 8 inches at about 6500 feet. that translates into about another half a foot around kirkwood, 3 inches donner and a couple inches at lake level. this is 51 on the storm impact scale, featuring scattered showers, light winds and a chance of a thunderstorm. a live look outside. doesn't look bad now. temperatures mainly in the 50s. 55 gilroy, 56 in mountain view. only a couple hundreds for you yesterday. we had two inches in the north bay. half-inch around monterey. yeah, amounts were very wide-ranging. today once again we will see heavier downpours in spots and elsewhere dry. from the golden gate bridge not looking too bad.

cooler with fog in concord. 3 degrees cooler from hayward to palo alto. we look at visibility in males, you notice three quarters of a mail in concord. not so bad now at the coast at the five miles. we will feature not only the clouds today, some sun, and with that an unstable atmosphere and the possibility of a thunderstorm. we will be back to sunshine tomorrow. the next chance of rain arrives later in the day on tuesday. so kind of an active pattern for the week ahead. a high surf advisory until 3:00. current wave heights really big from 1 -- from 12 to 15 feet. here's 9:00, ask by noontime we could see an isolated shower just about anywhere. looking at a partly cloudy sky, chance of a thunderstorm. it won't be totally wet, it won't be totally dry. as we add up the rainfall amounts through tonight, anywhere from a couple pun

dreads where the downpours come down to about a third of an inch in livermore perhaps or quarter inch in parts of the south bay. we will fast forward into tuesday evening. 6:00 notice we have the rain line here. looks very, very light as it moves in through about 10:00 tuesday night. by wednesday it's out of here. so we will look for that system to be much, much weaker. we're not even going to put a number on it. highs today anywhere from 60 to san francisco, 58 half moon bay, and the accuweather seven-day forecast so the possibility of a thunderstorm today. and then clouds to sun tomorrow. lack for some evening showers on tuesday into early wednesday. and then by late thanksgiving we could see some north bay showers. notice another 1 on saturday. that's due to another weak system so we will be fast-moving and they will keep coming. that's pretty good news when we were so dry for much of the month. >> right. so now unsettled, unstable, as

top-loading washing machines exploding when the drums in the washers are operating. >> so it could happen when i'm stand being right in front of it. >> a voluntary recall is underway. the petaluma couple purchased their top loader from home depot a little more than a month ago. her husband, gary, immediately called samsung's recall hotline. a rep told him home depot would come get his washer. but when he went to home depot, he got a different story. >> they don't want it, they don't know anything about it. >> he also had a question about the first warranty he purchased. >> the first warranty is tied to this machine. unless they refund the money, i have no warranty on the new machine. >> he purchased his warranty from home depot but the store told him he needed to take up the warranty with samsung. frustrated, he called "7 on your side" for help. we contacted both samsung and home depot to clarify the

confusion. home depot responded by agreeing to refund the 80-dollar cost of his warranty. they agreed to pick up the old washer and install the new one they purchased. samsung also called to make things right. >> she's giving me back the money for the taxes, but in the form of a gift card, but she said you still have to go through the process. >> the couple had a choice of coorsing a prerepair or return the recalled washer for a prorated amount to a new washer. if it was less than 30 days old they would have received 5100 percent refund but theirs was 34 days old. >> we were what, 4, 5 days late. samsung said it's priority is to reduce any safety risk. they apologize for any concerns

>> welcome back. we are starting this half-hour with a look at the weather with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning. a little damp out there again with scattered showers. you may see a thunderstorm today. here's a look at our storm impact scale where we are looking a the a light system today with light showers, the possibility of a thunderstorm. but more scattered throughout the day. you will see that right now as you check out live doppler 7. you can see a line right off the san mateo coast extending up into santa rosa. this is heavier downpours that will be pushing into

san francisco within the next 30 minutes. to the north light to moderate rain to san rafael, mill valley, and further to the north from mount st. helena down through santa rosa and penngrove. in the sierra nevada, heavy rain, blue canyon. then it changes to snow. temperatures in the low to mid-30s. outside you see the flag waving a bit. the pavement right there is dry. that should be changing with upper 30s by the delta. the forecast calls for the possibility of a thunderstorm throughout the afternoon. it will be widely scattered. temperatures will be on the cool side. that sun sets earlier and earlier, 4:55. the outlook for the week ahead where many folks have several days off will feature more rain showers. a look at that in a few minutes. >> thanks, lisa. the rain was a factor yesterday during stanford's win over cal. fans say they can't remember the last time it rained on a big game day.
