>> sherri papini has been located, and has been reunited with her husband and family on this day of thanksgiving. >> after weeks of agony, a breakthrough today in the case of a missing mother discovered safe after a mysterious abduction. good evening, and happy thanksgiving. thanks for joining us. sherri papini vanished in redding and was discovered about 140 miles away just before dawn. investigators are now focused on how she got there and what led to her abduction. after missing for 22 days, this northern california wife and mother of two, sherri papini, turned up alive thursday morning. it was along interstate 5 north o woodland in yellow county, about 100 miles away from where she disappeared. >> she was released by her captor on a rural road. she was bound with restraints

but was able to summon help from a passing motorist. >> reporter: papini was found safe but suffered injuries. police say she was take on the a hospital to be treated, and she has been reunited with her husband, keith. >> you never think you would be in a position like this. i would never wish this feeling upon anybody. >> that was 32-year-old keith papini, more than a week after his wife went missing. police say he was at work november 2 when sherri papini went for a jog on this rural road, a mile from their home. and she wasn't seen again. when she didn't pick up their children from daycare, keith reported her missing, and used the find my phone app to locate her cell phone. it was found on the side of the street. the headphones still attached, entangled with strands of hair. it kicked off a search and investigation to find sherri papini. now -- > the investigation is far from over. in fact, it's only begun a new chapter. we're confident with the

public's help, we'll make an arrest on this case. >> police say they are looking for a dark suv with two hispanic females armed with a hand gun. they did not reveal a motive and say the public should remain cautious until a suspect is identified. we have new details tonight. "abc7 news" has learned a south san francisco police officer hit in the head with a skateboard is in critical condition in the hospital. the attack happened inside a star bucks in south city. a man was acting erratically. the officer who was hurt happened to be in the area and stopped to talk with the suspect who began to run. the suspect then turned and someone his skateboard. >> i heard like he struck the policeman right on the right side, and he just fell down. >> he was hit in the head hard. "abc7 news" has learned the officer has suffered a traumatic train injury.

the suspect was caught on linden avenue. the sacramento county sheriff's is investigating a fatal officer shooting that took place around 2:00 this afternoon. a man in his late teens called police from inside the store saying he was mad at cops and they found him in a aisle holding a gun and he then stabbed himself in the neck. law enforcement in the south bay are spend thing thanksgiving night searching for two jail inmates part of a group who made a daring escape last night. two have been caught but these two are still at large. we're joined now from san jose with the latest on the search. sergio? >> reporter: cheryl, it was around this time last night when there were four inmates who made their way out of a second story

jail cell inside the older building here at the santa clara county jailhouse. two of those men are still on the run. just like a prison break movies, deputies found blankets tied together and bent bars where the inmates pried their way out. it's now been 24 hours since they made their break. >> we're looking at any tips or information coming in. we're just tracking them down just like old fashion police work, tracking every single thing down. >> reporter: inside the jail, you can see the pried open window with a bed sheet tied to the side and one of the jail bars hacked off. >> we're still actively searching for what may have cut those bars, but nothing was recovered. >> reporter: four men escaped just after 11:00 p.m. wednesday night. a deputy spotted two of them and immediately took them back into custody. deputies and police from local

agencies used dogs to track the other two and swept through the neighborhood. this is the latest of what's been a bad year for this jail facility. in february, deputies were accused of using excessive force in the beating death of a mentally ill inmate. this escape happened in a blind spot spore the aging jail facility. >> in that particular area, there are no kamras. >> reporter: deputies say they should be considered dangerous, so anyone who spots them should call 911 immediately. a scary situation at a beach where a 40-year-old man and his 17-year-old daughter, but they are okay tonight after a lifeguard pulled them from pounding waves in jenner. the national weather service had just issued a beach hazard for 12 to 15-foot swells. the 15-year-old boy was caught

in the waves. his dad and sister went in after him, but the boy was able to get out on his own. the holiday shopping season is under way, and it's not even technically black friday. sales started today at big box retailers. our reporter joins us from union square with more. lisa? >> reporter: you know, shoppers pretty much ate and then hit the stores. some of the stores will be open non-stop for the next 24 hour and the macy's behind me will stay open until 2:00 a.m. this was the mad dash into macy's union square once the doors opened at 5:00 today. and this was the frenzy to start shopping at target tonight. the line just to get in was long. for some, it's a thanksgiving day tradition. >> we wait in the lines until they allow us to go in. >> reporter: for others, it was something new to try. >> we never usually do it. we just -- it's just out of the

inch of rain. it will be breezy along the coastline. the winds, 25 to 30 miles per hour. out of the south, in continues at 8:00 a.m. near the coastline and the winds ease up. the rain comes in, hour by hour forecast. 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, maybe a few sprinkles in the north bay. i wouldn't be too concerned. the rain really moves in around 11:00 friday night. it gets heavy at times, yellows and oranges, showing you the moderate to heavy rain. 5:00 a.m., still there. 8:00 a.m., widespread rain. at noon, turns to showers. the showers will continue before that next system comes in qickly. so back-to-back storms. the rainfall totals, they're adding up, about a third of an inch to an inch of rain by saturday afternoon. that's just the first system. second storm, saturday night a cold and light system. one on our impact stale. snow level down to 4,000 feet. could be seeing snow of the highest peaks. moderate rain saturday night

a determined police officer in western australia did not let a river stop him from catching a wanted suspect. video shows the officer jumping in the water and swimming after the 26-year-old fugitive. the suspect had a warrant out for him. the officer grabbed the suspect in the water, dragged him to shore and that's where the man was taken into custody. he wanted to get his man. >> great athlete there. >> i know. speaking of athletes. >> talking about plenty of them in the nfl today. andrew luck was just a spectator
