because an average adoption costs $40,000 in full and up front. >> reporter: after going through the adoption of the first child, jake, becky knew she and kip wanted to help others adopt, too. >> we have to do something to help these other families become parents, and to help kids get homes because the trick of it all is if people can't afford to adopt children, what happens to these children? >> reporter: from her apartment, she launched, help us adopt, an organization in the ninth year giving financial assistance to other adoptive parents from all walks of life. >> we don't discriminate, period. family is family. you want to adopt a child? you have a valid home? come. >> reporter: and becky has a family of her own. she and kip adopted jake, who is now 10, and brook, who just turned 7. >> i have to literally pinch myself to remind myself at points throughout the day that these children did not come out

distraught husband reported her missing. that triggered a search, which turned up very little until yesterday when papini was found on the side of a country road. >> she was bound with restraints, but was able to summon help. from a passing motorist. >> reporter: investigators are now looking for two hispanic females who are armed with a handgun and a dark colored suv. no details yet on where papini was held or why she was abducted. family and friends in west virginia gathered to remember james means shot to death after he bumped into a man. they held marches and vigils for the 15-year-old teen. william pulliam is charged with first degree murder in means' death. his wife claimed he acted in self-defense. james was black. fbi is investigating if it was a hate crime. pulliam was not legally allowed to own a gun because of a

domestic discan turnance allegation. wildfires forcing thousands out of their homes. drought and arson being blamed for the fires. about 130 people treated for injuries caused by the flames. france is sending fire fighting planes to battle the wildfires, and crews from russia, turkey, and greece are already on the scene there. in the u.s., crews are still battling wildfires across the southeast. more than 16,000 acres have been scorched in eight states, north carolina, hardest hit. crews spent thanksgiving day trying to contain the flames, some of which have been caused by arson. investigators have arrested several people as a result of the fires. so dallas won, for a lot of my friends in dfw, they are really heiffey right now. >> heiffey. >> yeah, excited. we had a triple serving of nfl

>> reporter: the video shows lewiston police officer woods stopping this car for not having a license plate. the car had just left home. jessie herald, a wanted fugitive with multiple arrest warrants was there. he asked the driver, his mother, if her son is there. >> she immediately responded with the words, to the effect of, it's a toy gun, don't shoot him. >> reporter: the officer called for backup. >> i need you here immediately. >> reporter: next, you see the trunk open. the officer springs into action. the two wrestling on the ground until backup arrives. police later determined that the firearm was, in fact, a toy gun. this video released after a particularly dangerous week for law enforcement around the country, five officers shot, two killed. herald was booked on those outstanding warrants as well as new charges for resisting arrest and aggravated assault. his mother facing charges for harboring a fugitive. eva pilgrim, abc news, new york. it was a working holiday for

distraught husband reported her missing. that triggered a search, which turned up very little until yesterday when papini was found on the side of a country road. >> she was bound with restraints, but was able to summon help from a passing motorist. >> reporter: investigators are now looking for two hispanic females who are armed with a handgun and a dark colored suv. no details yet on where papini was held or why she was abducted. family and friends in west virginia gathered to remember james means shot to death after he bumped into a man. they held marches and vigils for the 15-year-old teen. william pulliam is charged with first degree murder in means' death. his wife claimed he acted in self-defense. james was black. fbi is investigating if it was a hate crime. pulliam was not legally allowed to own a gun because of a domestic discan turnance allegation. wildfires forcing thousands out of their homes. drought and arson being blamed

for the fires. about 130 people treated for injuries caused by the flames. france is sending fire fighting planes to battle the wildfires, and crews from russia, turkey, and greece are already on the scene there. in the u.s., crews are still battling wildfires across the southeast. more than 16,000 acres have been scorched in eight states, north carolina, hardest hit. crews spent thanksgiving day trying to contain the flames, some of which have been caused by arson. investigators have arrested several people as a result of the fires. so dallas won, for a lot of my friends in dfw, they are really heiffey right now. >> heiffey. >> yeah, excited. we had a triple serving of nfl action on thanksgiving. detroit lions came from behind again to beat the vikings, but
