out, too, because the cold mornings will hang around. be running the heater a lot. clear conditions on live doppler 7. let's take a look and show you the temperatures from the mid-30s to nearly 50 from our inland neighborhoods to san francisco. by noon, we're all around 534 to 57 and then by 4 okay, 55 to 57. you will definitely need the sunglasses. grab the coat again this evening. we're back in the mid upper to 40s by 7:00. good morning. i'll take you back down to san jose on our traffic maps where it sounds like we have a crash involving a pedestrian. i have not confirmed if that is fatal or not. but avoid this intersection of monterey and senter road. that is right by a shopping center. a little bit of good news at the golden gate bridge, we had a semi that went through a narrow lane, but that has cleared. for a lot of you, all those gifts that you've just ordered will end up in front of your door waiting for you or if you're unlucky, a thief to just pick them up and walk away. >> it happens so so many.

now one south bay city taking steps to catch the thieves red handed. matt keller is live in campbell this morning. >> reporter: good morning. you know that horrible feeling you get the notification on your smartphone that your package has been delivered at your home and then when you get home, your well, now campbell police is following that package. it's their bait package program. you have seen the videos. people recording thieves taking their deliveries right from their porches. this has b now police are placingpackages. once the package is stolen, the hunt is on. police get the alert and officers expect to arrest the thief within minutes. of course they say the best protection is prevention. police recommend you have the package delivered to a secure location like a pick skrup facility or the actual store or just make sure you're going to be home during the scheduled delivery time. campbell police hopes this sends

a message to the thieves. don't come to their city and steal packages. matt keller, abc 7 news. you can take steps to avoid getting your packages stolen. first have your package delivered to someone who can actually receive it in person like a neighbor or a relative. or just arrange for it to be delivered to your workplace. you can also track it on democratic line and schedule specific date and time for your delivery so you know you will be home to receive it. we have a breaking news update the on what is happening in colombia, site of the deadly plane crash carrying a brazil i don't know club soccer team. 75 dead, but six people have survived. i said earlier that there were crews traveling to the wreckage site on the ground. you see that they have gotten there, they are picking up the pieces from that plane. i also want to show you new video. this is from one of the players

of the team traveling there. this is from a defensive player for the team. he has survived. he is one of the survivors. and this is before the team was boarding the plane when they were taking off from brazil. they were on their way to colombia to play in the south american cup when their plane went down. we will be tracking the story as new details and new video comes in. there were in that plane members of that brazilian soccer team, 20 journalists, invited guests and the crew. again, 75 dead, six survivors. back to you. a major development in the case of sherry pa pei papini. this morning we're hearing from her husband. the 34-year-old went missing on november 2 and miraculously was found safe on thanksgiving morning 22 days later and 150 miles away. this morning her husband keith released a statement exclusively to "good morning america"

describing the plomoment that h first saw his wife and her condition. he said she was thrown from a vehicle with a chain around her waist attached to her wrists and a bag over her head. he said she was badly beaten, had a broken nose and that her hair was chopped off. the shasta county sheriff said that morning they interviewed papini yesterday, they still though have a lot of questions. >> we don't know if it was targeted to her specifically or a random abduction. >> sheriff says they're still looking for two armed hispanic women driving a dark colored suv, but hope to get mor information when they interview papini today. we've posted keith's full statement on abc7news.com. and the other big story, this fire that is now out of control in the tennessee mountains. this is in gatlinburg which is not far away from where dollywood is. mandatory evacuations are in affect, 100 homes have been burned and tens ever thousands

are without power. kendis gibson has more. >> reporter: fear flames and blinding smoke across the tennessee mountains. >> we need to leave. >> reporter: wildfires engulfing towns to the theme park dollywood. officials ordering everyone to leave. dramatic video posted showing people evacuating, roads visible and flames creeping closer to the road. a man stuck because the only road out of town was closed. >> we're on the first floor because they had to break the windows on the upper floors because we were suffer indicating from the smoke like so bad, like we were on the ground suffocating. because you had to lay perfectfully flat on the ground or the smoke was too thick. it was even too thick for the masks. >> reporter: the fire moved

faster than anyone expected. and the sous chef posting this terrifying video, flames surrounding the building as smoke fills the room. he later wrote, they're all safe. kendis gibson, abc news, new york. and this is basically in the great smoky mountains. and mike is telling us that they are receiving a lot of rain this morning. so hopefully that helps out. also want to tell you about a 26-year-old man accused of molesting a child on b.a.r.t..9-year-old girl was on a train headed west toward bay fair station. marcus brown touched her inappropriately and family member intervened thankfully got off the train and called police. the girl then identified brown. he was arrested at the coliseum b.a.r.t. station. brown faces several molestation charges and is banned from b.a.r.t. for up to a year. the president-elect has filled another cabinet position this morning. abc news reports that morning georgia congress p man tom price has accepted the position as head of the department of health and human services. surprise a republican and was an

outspoken critic of the affordable care act. as for the green party candidate jim stein's recount efforts, she's now suing wisconsin demanding that they recount by hand. stein filed for a recount in pennsylvania yesterday and she's still raising money to fund a recount in michigan who gave the victory to mr. trump yesterday. happening today, berkeley city council expected to talk about issues with short term rentals like airbnb. the council will address tracking and regulation questions brought up by council members in july. among these issues, renting buildings like sheds and garages. they're also expected to discuss using zoning certificate numbers to track rentals. that lets the city verify hosts went through the correct city process. and uber drivers will join a national protest calling for a higher minimum wage and the right to unionize. currently uber workers have neither of those. they complain after gas and car maintenance, they struggle to pay bills. uber drivers are joining fast food workers, child care

and cooperated can police. protesters have gotten an emergency evacuation order from north dakota's government to get off the land following weeks of clashes between the sioux tribe and police. the tribe wants to stop construction of an oil pipeline that would run beneath the missouri river. the order from the governor cites safety concerns like harsh winter weather conditions. the protesters say they are not going anywhere. two tornadoes touched down in eastern iowa yesterday. no injuries reported. no injuries reported. this is the second year passengers on this jet were stunned.

decades now, but this year students started organizing themselves over the summer. they got a big head start. they wanted to collect 100,000 pounds of food and break a school record that was set 11 years ago. >> we did assemblies and rallies and we stood outside of storefronts and held up posters. >> students from 3:00 to 9:00 would stand out there and they count the cans every day. >> that is amazing. students also reached out to local organizations for cash donations. the food collected will be donated to second harvest food bank. to we kn do we know the results? >> no, but i know that there is hope when i see those kids taking time in the summer to start collecting. good morning, mike nicco. i was trying to dial up the radar. wanted to show you what is going on. in gatlinburg where the storms are since about 11:00 last night, seem like the radar doesn't want to work with me there. but it's been raining steady nearly 2 inches of rain.

lawsuit filed by walgreen's alleging fraud. and a study out of johns hopkins shows that cancer patients who rely on medicare to pay their bills are this for a costly surprise. cancer patients without a medicare supplemental insurance policy can end up paying up to 63% of their income for treatment because medicare only covers 80% of costs. research also shows that cancer treatment contributes more to health care costs than treatment for any other disease. and the ocean wide center is part of the trans bay development plan and includes two towers. one is of 00 fee600 feet, the o. the buildings will accommodate residences and office spaces. a las vegas woman was out of the country when her home security company called her to tell her there was activity in her home. so she pulls up the surveillance video remotely and sees the

maps. one new issue popped up on eastbound 580 just past that 980 merge. so sounds like we have a collision may have happened off on the shoulder and part of the slow lane blocked. also if you're going inbound toward san francisco, it does sound like we have a disabled vehicle on the san francisco side of the bay bridge. we'll take a look at that coming up. and investigators starting to comb through the wreckage of a plane crash in colombia. >> on board a brazilian soccer team, most of whom died. jessica is tracking the story. >> some of the details coming in are heartbreaking. i've been reading brazilian news sites and i learned one of the trainer's sons was supposed to be on board that plane, he actually forgot his passport, was not allowed on. unfortunately, his dad was among those 75 dead. there are six survivors this morning. here is a picture from some of those players from the brazilian club team, they're a top national team. they were headed to play in the

finals of the south american cup in colombia. the team's facebook page put out a statement saying god be where our athletes, officials, journalists and other guests that were on board that plane. i'll continue working the story and bring you any new details that continue coming in this morning. and there are new questions this morning about the muni hack that disabled more than 2,000 computer systems. >> how far back did the hack really go and was the attack ongoing? amy hollyfield live for us in san francisco. >> reporter: it now looks like that muni's commuputers may hav been compromised for up to two week. this is the ominous message that showed up on computer screens from the san francisco examiner. the message said you hacked. a software engineer tells examiner he saw this message on the screen back on november 13th. he says he is a developer, he immediately recognized it as an

attack. a muni spokesperson insists the attack was shorter than that, just friday through sunday. some riders are nervous about what this all could mean, but a spokesperson says it wasn't that damaging. >> it did not impact transit service or safety through the system. and we're encouraged that it doesn't appear that customers information was breached. >> reporter: some ride rs got free rides because the fare machines weren't working. fbi and homeland security have been contacted about the attack. the attackers demanded a ransom, but officials say they do not plan to pay it. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. union city place are investigating a triple shooting in a restaurant parking lot that left a man dead, this was at the texas road house just off 880 around 9:00 last night. two other men were taken to the hospital, one in serious condition. the other in critical. police say they arrested three suspects about a block away.

they recovered a gun and other evidence from the suspect's car. >> the suspect vehicle that was stopped had at least three occupants in it. at the it this point we're not looking for any additional suspect vehicles or weapons. and at this point there is no known ongoing threat to the public. a lot of people as you might imagine shopping this time of year at that center. luckily up luckily none of them was hurt. the search is on for the gurp man who shot and killed a 37-year-old man. the shooting happened near castro valley high school on red wood road around 6:00 last night. authorities say the victim is a well respected union construction worker and they're trying to find out why someone would want to kill him. this morning we are hearing for the first time from the husband of sherri papini, the redding woman found alive three weeks after being kidnapped. she was found safe thanksgiving morning. this morning her husband released a statement to gma describing the moment he first saw her in the hospital and it is brutal. keith says her face was covered

in bruises ranging from yellow to black because of repeated beatings, the bridge of her nose broken, her now emaciated body of 87 pounds was covered in multicolored bruises, severe burns, red rashes an chain markings. her long blond hair had been chopped off, that she had been branded. he thanked investigators and volunteers and asked for privacy. we'll have more on this story in our next half hour and we have posted his full statement on abc7news.com. developing news out of antioch this morning where county health officials are trying to cause of an illness that killed three people after eating at the american legion hall. two days later, sutter delta medical center had admitted eight patients reporting nausea, vomiting and tdiarrhea. one person remains hospitalized.

today. classes are resuming at ohio state this morning as the fbi investigates the motive behind the attack. 18-year-old abdul razak ali artan was a somali immigrant and student at ohio state. police say he ran down students in his car yesterday and then jumped out and started stabbing people with a butcher knife. according to law enforcement officials, artan posted on facebook, quote, i can't take it anymore, just three minutes before the first call for help. 11 people were hurt, police say without a campus police officer's agent of heroism, it could have been a lot worse. >> our officer was on scene in less than a minute and he ended the situation in less than a minute. he engaged the suspect and he eliminated the threat. sxwlt suspect died after being shot by that officer. investigators believe he posted on facebook saying, quote, if you want us muslims to stop carrying lone wolf attacks, then make peace. now to the trump transition, the president-elect is meeting with mitt romney again today

a top high school is making headlines and not if reasons. according to the examiner, there have been reports of racially charged hate graffiti at lowell high school found in bathrooms, bulletin boards and classroom desks. and school staff plans to send a letter to student this is week telling them to show respect for their peers. a mosque in fresno is just the latest to receive a letter threatening genocide. the handwritten letter praises president-elect donald trump and goes on to say, quote, he's going to do to you muslim what is hitler did to the jews. mosques in stockton and pomona have all received the letters. it's signed by the americans for a better way.

october and november rains are raising hopes of a wet year. but water officials say we have a long way to go. the rains have done wonders for the bay area, especially the east bay. livermore for example has a seasonal rainfall that is 148% of normal. our reservoirs though have still plenty to fill up, several are only 40% of normal capacity for thanksgiving weekend. shasta is doing better with 64%. >> european space agency has released images that show millennium tower sinking from space. it has sunk 16 inches since it opened in 2009. and this image as the red for the dots, they represent the tilt. the tower sunk 1.6 to 1.8 inches
