itit will be warmer this afternoon. the early sunset 4:51. look for more changes for the second half of the weekend. details in a few minutes. >> lisa, thank you so much. breaking news out of oakland this morning where a three-alarm fire damaged at least one building. the fire started around is 11:30 last night on 31st avenue and international boulevard. one person inside says the building house was 18 people who uses it as an artist collective. about 50 people were inside last night when the fire started. he was treated on the scene tore some minor injuries. he tells us he's unsure if one of his friends made it out safely. >> i haven't seen him. i'm hoping for the best. i hope, i hope he's okay. >> now it's unclear this morning if anyone was seriously hurt. the cause is under investigation. now to developing news out of san francisco.

pg&e is investigating the cause of a power outage that has left more than 2,000 people in the dark this morning. the power went out. the estimated time of restoration is 6:45 this morning. there's an important clue that may help the police track down the driver in a violent commit run crash. it happened earlier this week on portero avenue right next to san francisco general hospital. sergio quintana has the story. >> at first glance dana fernie looks like she's recovering from her injuries pretty well but you take a closer look and she has a bruised eye and a pretty significant head injury. >> i don't remember anything except getting on my bike and then waking up in the hospital. >> tuesday night at about 10:15 she was bicycling home on

portraya avenue near 22nd street when she was hit by a vehicle. the driver left the scene a few good samaritans found her and walked her to the hospital. >> the negative thing is some person did something horrible and selfish but four people did something fantastic. >> unfortunately investigators don't have any clues because no witnesses have come forward and there aren't my surveillance cameras on the stretch. but there is an important piece of evidence. a side screw mirror found at the scene that may have come from the suspect's car. >> we believe the vehicle that struck her is a dark color mini, would be the make. we believe that the model is the cooper. >> dana had been an avid bicyclist. she's thankful for those who helped her get to the hospital. >> it's very rare nowadays that people stop and help other people and i'm thankful they stopped and helped me. >> anyone with information is to call san francisco police. abc7 news. >> in los angeles investigators believe a fatal stabbing on the

university of southern california campus was not the a random attack. a faculty member was skilled yesterday. police arrested a student with the murder. paramedics arrived and found professor bosco tjan dead. and a fire started in a barn south of downtown. the firefighters rescued several dogs. it took firefighters about 90 minutes to get the flames under control. luckily no one was hurt. also in the north bay deputies believe a gunman shot himself in the head while driving away from a crime scene. it all started in kenwood yesterday afternoon. sky 7 was over this home on adobe canyon road where a man had several gunshot wounds. he's expected to survive. officers followed a black s.u.v. to east santa rosa. the press democrat reports he pulled out a gun and appears to

have shot himself into the head. he crashed into this home. investigators have not announced his condition. the police are looking for a man who tried to kidnap a young girl on adrian drive. the girl was walking home when a car stopped and offered her a ride home and she declined. man got out, grabbed her, hugged her, bit her and then bit her. the girl was able to breakaway. the duane mates who made -- the two inmates to made a daring escape from jail were arraigned yesterday. the mug shot after the capture appeared he applied makeup. both men, plus a woman, charged with hiding chavez, have court dates next week. president-elect donald trump did something that hasn't been done in nearly 40 years. he talked with the president of

>> hundreds of people came together last night to honor the 14 people who were killed in the san bernardino terrorist attack one year ago yesterday. city sponsored a night of remembrance with stories and music. one survivor said because of the vigil she finally feels a sense of closer. >> i missed all of the funerals of my friends and all of the services. i never got to mourn them properly because i was in the process of fighting for my own life. >> investigators are still trying to figure out what the shooters did immediately following the shooting. they were later gunned down by police. a man who provided them with assault rifles will face trial next year. take a look at this surveillance video. san francisco police looking for thieves who rushed an apple store, grabbing expensive iphones and ipads not once, but twice. people in hoodies ran in and ripped the devices from the display tables. this is the marina district store on chestnut street. thieves targeted the store on

black friday and then again the past tuesday. a similar incident happened at the store in core --. >> and two people were arrested for a pair of belmont the burglars in october and november. officers recovered stolen jewelry and electronics. they may also be responsible for other home burglaries in the peninsula. this woman is arrested for stealing packages from porches. the 24-year-old sarah was arrested at her san jose home. officers were able to track her down after releasing pictures and video to the public showing the theft of the packages. she confessed to the trial. the stars of "full house" are now immortalized in cement. >> one, two, three, go! >> check out the cast members

at temperatures in the warmest locations across the bay in san francisco at 49. check out oakland, 8 are december cooler at 41. 43 in mountain view and san jose. gilroy 34 degrees. so this location here is just at about 157 feet. you don't have to get that high in the atmosphere to experience the chilly conditions. half moon bay 45 and from the east bay hills camera a nice vantage point. 39 in napa, as well as fairfield and livermore. 40 for concord. good morning, novato, 41 for you. this is the headline, how much cooler it is. twelve degrees cooler in concord request 4 to 8 degrees cooler in mountain view. and from mt. tam we are checking out the warmest day of the week today. it will be pretty mild out there with a winter-like chill next week and the chance of rain coming our way not until next friday. so as we checkout the bigger picture, it's pretty mild from north to south. and no clouds out out there wit8

in los angeles today. a beautiful afternoon. 46 in the northern sierra. we will be looking at not only the mild conditions today, but well above average. look at santa rosa. we could be flirting with 70 degrees there. 66 in oakland and hayward. tomorrow almost as nice. the breeze will lighten up a bit but we will still have plenty of sunshine, well above afternoon. then by monday some cooling clouds with highs struggling to get out of the 50s. this will be the beginning of some much cooler air headed our way. so the source of that cooling coming right from canada. in fact, we are looking at the western half of the nation really encompassed in a big chill next week. so this will influence not only the afternoon highs obviously but the morning lows will be dipping into the 20s in some spots. that could give us a hard freeze. contrast that to the warmest day out of the next seven. that's today with 64 santa clara, and look for mid-60s ferried wood city, palo alto and mountain view.

"7 on your side" michael finney tells us what to watch out for. >> the phone raining around 8:30 in the morning. >> that's when the ordeal began for this couple. >> they said you have a contract with us for our computer printer and we are closing up our company. >> the caller said the company was entitled to a $180 refund. >> i said fine, send me a check. he said no, we have to do it on the computer. >> the caller told noreen to fill out the computer online. what he a really did is take remote control of the computer.

he said i'm not asking for anything, not your bank account customers, and just tell us where you bank. i said wells fargo. they checked and a deposit was pending. the man called back and said he deposited $2,000 too much. >> and you have to please send us back the $2,000. marvin said he wanted to wait to see if the deposit cleared. >> his voice became a little shrill. i think he felt the scam slipping away from them. >> wells fargo said the money was deposited into account but the money came from a couple's credit card amount. >> he said you will send me the money. >> and i said no, i won't. >> he said if you don't send it, we will crash the computer. >> just then this threatening message appeared on their computer screen. it said all pictures is hacked. if you want to get rid of all of this, pay us $2,000. the couple shut it down and called the fbi.

all the heat from yesterday has escaped into space. and no blanket or cloud cover to insulate us. will be looking at temperatures colder and colder the next several mornings. today numbers will be above around. yesterday we saw plenty of mid-60s. from the sutro tower camera, another day today in san francisco with mild conditions. mild today, tomorrow. winter-like chill early next week. chance of rain, looks like it's arriving not until next friday. highs across the state pretty nice for december. low 60s for monterey, upper 60s los angeles. look for 63 in chico with low 70s palm springs and 46 in the northern sierra. as for today, average highs in the upper 50s to about 60 degrees mountain view. plenty of mid-60s from oakland to hayward. 64 in san jose. tomorrow almost as mild.

just a couple degrees of cooling for livermore. 61 sausalito. we will take you to monday where highs will struggle to make it to the low 50s in san francisco. you have an idea the overnight lows will get cooler and cooler because afternoon highs will struggle to recover and we will look at that trend for several days into early next week. the reason being, the arctic blast coming out of canada will encompass much of the western states and it will arrive early next week. that will definitely make an impact in the temperatures. today it's the warmest day out of the next seven with 64 in the south bay for much of san jose, santa clara. 65 for you in palo alto and mountain view. 64 menlo park. san francisco about 64 today. in the north bay some of these numbers in the upper 60s from cloverdale to santa rosa. you head over to the east bay today, 66 in hayward, oakland. and fremont about 64. over the east bay hills into the mid-60s for antioch and brentwood. that's a considerable climb from where you are this morning.
