roke, ask your doctor about xarelto. there's more to know. xarelto. good morning, bay area. let's get up and get going. this is abc 7 mornings. rain continues to fall in the bay area this morning. here is what it looked like in the east bay in pleasant hill. how much more rain can we expect this weekend. i'm in for chris nguyen. let's get to lisa with the very wet weekend forecast. >> good morning to you. it is a two on the storm impact scale. we're anticipating any where from a third of an inch to an inch up in santa rosa. it is not happening yet in parts of the south bay, but you've had the rain all morning. take a look at the yellows up to the north around novado,

berkeley and oakland, i-80, seeing wet weather, highway 37, highway 24, concord. out towards antioch, and you'll notice that the rain is continuing to sink to the south. so on the peninsula, into the east bay, it will be another hour or so, but it will last throughout the afternoon. as we get into san jose. san francisco, 59, 61 in san jose, delays over an hour at sfo. misty and gray there. but take a look at san jose, yeah, you guys have sunshine. but the rain will begin there within the next hour or so. lots of clouds in the distance. by this evening, if you have plans, it will be dry for everyone. i'll time it out, talk about a dry couple of days, and then we're looking at the rain changing to snow in the sierra nevada. >> we'll see you in a bit. you can track the storms any time with the abc 7 news app. download it for free and enable push alerts to get breaking news

updates as they happen. breaking news out of san mateo. chp is investigating a crash that left one person dead and three others injured. southbound highway 101, right now, only one lane is opened. while the chp investigates. of the three people taken to the hospital, one has major injuries, the other two have minor injuries. unclear what caused the crash, but wet weather and possible dui are possible factors. in san francisco, the intersection of fourth and howard has reopened after being shut down yesterday. crews worked overnight after a broken water main busted after 3:00 a.m. yesterday. it caused flooding to a garage. the pipe, we're told, built in 1895, officials say age is a likely factor for the break.

now to the devastating oakland warehouse fire. last friday, three dozen people died while attending a concert at the ghost ship warehouse. the names of all 36 victims have been released. the atf is using camera to pinpoint what started it. katie utehs spoke to the victims's friends. >> please let their spirits live on. >> her weekly peace march baf a memorial. she lost five friends. >> johnny was quirky, kind of funny, and then donna, she was a ray of light. it was a peaceful and loving person. vic was jovial and loved to travel. barrett, a loving individual, too. >> she says the man who ran the artist collective, derek almena took ativan taej of people. >> it insults me every time he

to death last year. katie marzullo has information on it. >> it is a resolution of a very sad, heart wrenching situation. >> attorney paula kani, speaking with us via face time, represented michael tyree's two sisters in the claim against santa clara county. they have settled for 3.62 mltds. >> of course, they would rather have their brother or father or, you know, being here than any amount of money, but no money that will ever fix this. >> county counsel release aid statement, but would not comment otherwise. three santa clara county jail guards are awaiting trial. prosecutors say jera lubrin and others beat him to death. steven clark says it is unusual for a civil case to be resolved before a criminal case.

news.com. over the last next few months, the stanford band won't be seen or heard. university has suspended all band activities until spring 2017 quarter, after finding members broke campus alcohol policies and violated an alcohol suspension. the travel band that was imposed last spring. the investigation found hazing and sexual harassment among members. the band will be restructure and a new band director. in a letter, he wrote he hopes the punishment will address the leadership deficits that have led to constant and repeated violations of policy and a total lack of accountability and responsibility. details are now emerging on the land deal being put forward to keep the raiders if oakland. the term sheet offered by a group headed byr ronny lot for $1.3 billion. here are the highlights.

their silence. they said they absolutely do support him. they wanted to release a statement, because they kept seeing articles saying they don't support him. they assure everyone they are proud and admire their son's courage in kneeling for the rights of others. their statement reads in part, colin is carrying a heavy load and following a difficult path that he truly believes in. he is putting his entire future and possibly his life on the line for those beliefs. just released, secret cia report says russia tried to help president-elect trump win the white house. according to the "washington post," the cia believes individuals with connections oh to the russian government provided wikileaks with thousands of hacked e-mails from the democratic national committee. in an effort to get mr. trump elected. thursday night, trump's transition team responded to the new claim, saying in part, quote, these are the same people that said saddam hussein had weapons of mass destruction. it is time to move on and make america great again. california getting drought

relief. congress passed a bill that will increase water flow from the delta and central and southern california. barbara boxer says it endanger endangered species act. including more than two dozen in california alone. now your accuweather forecast with lisa argen. >> hi, everybody. we're looking at a two on the storm impact scale this morning. and this means we'll see any where from about a third of an inch to a inch of rain up in santa rosa, could be moderate to heavy at times, in a narrow band right now, and the coastal hills have seen heavy rain. that's where we'll see the most. you can pick out the front from the darker shading of green to the kbrel low, from the coast to the san pablo bay up to i-80. closer, it is the east bay now, getting heavy downpours around highway 24, kensington,

peidmont, heavy rain. this will continue to sink south, san francisco getting wet weather, but for the rest of the on the sense the peninsula, it will take time. you'll see the rain in fremont, and san ramon. it is coming. so back to the mountains, snow levels about 9,000 feet, but we are looking at some flooding here, because we've seen any where from two inches the in sierra nevada, and the rivers and creeks and streams could be outside of their banks later on today. so we're looking at about 5.9 feet today, above flood stage. back in 1981, it was 6.5 feet. the good news, we're going to get a cold system on tuesday, could see a foot of snow in the northern sierra on tuesday and several storms after that.

so 3 to 6 inches of rain in the mountain, and boy, is it soggy out there as we look at the east bay camera with upper 50s and low 60s. where is this? san jose, where it is very dry, but you'll get into the rain throughout the mid morning hours. it will last through late afternoon. 59 by the delta, 60 in concord and another soggy picture right around the beach in santa cruz. it has been raining there, but the rain increases pretty much for everyone, except sonoma county, because you're on the backside of it. showers taper off this afternoon. sunny and cool tomorrow. hour by hour, the front is pressing through the bay area, east bay, 11:00, so by lunchtime, on the peninsula, doing some shopping at the mall down there at stanford, it will be soggy and then right getting into it 1:00, 2:00 around south bay. it will stay pretty soggy, even into livermore.

today, the storm system, we've ranked it a two and it will be moderate. it is light and steady so far. 0.3 to an inch and as we look, you'll notice the narrow line of darker green and yellow, that's the cold front. finally pressing into our east bay and as we take you into walnut creek, lafayette, blackhawk, you're looking at pretty good rain here, highway 4 towards pittsburgh, 680, martinez, you're wet. look at the heavy rain there. in the north bay, it is very light, but getting enhanced along the coast, pushing into san francisco, finally a little bit on the peninsula there. and 680, livermore, a little soggy where you are. mild, look at san jose, reached the high temperatures, upper 50s to low 60s as the front pushes there. cooler air behind it. dry night tonight. >> we'll see you soon.

>> in the immediate aftermath, the fire investigation becomes more challenging. >> charring, melting of objects, electrical activity or lack thereof. >> among the evidence, the most important clue. >> they're looking for indicators that tell them how intense the fire was, which direction it was moving, and that helps them trying to find the origin. >> that's when investigators use tools like this one, a thermal imaging camera. >> it picks up signals of heat, and you can use that to map out an area and see which areas are still warm. as opposed to areas that have gone cold. >> the mission of the investigators is to look for the origin of the fire. then you can look for the cause. here is what regular images look like. the cup on the table is red. because it is filled with hot coffee. my face and hands are red, because of the warm blood flow. in a fire, the camera picks up

heat in places you can't see. >> for instance, if there is the fire started inside a wall and the wall is still warm, you may know that you need to remove the sheetrock to look into that area with a camera like that. >> so anything that's warm or hot is emittig energy in the infrared spectrum. you can't see it with the naked eye, but you can with a thermal imaging camera. vic lee, abc 7 news. three friends of the fire's youngest victim visited the memorial yesterday. 17-year-old dravin mcgill's death has shocked his friends. one friend met him about five years ago. >> he had such a humble and generous attributes within him and i just, i just, i still can't believe that someone as good as him just passed on. >> friends describe him as being a talented singer who belonged to a boy's choir.

and finally, into hayward. you're getting light ray, pleasant ton, for you, slick roadway, and westward into san mateo, not quite yet, redwood city, half moon bay, and mild conditions, it has been dry all morning long in the south bay. you'll get rain as well. we've had heavy rain here in the sierra nevada, 39, truck key, 45, blue canyon, a flood watch. we've seen an inch, truckee river will rise out of the banks today temporarily. flood stage is 4.5 feet. we're at 1.8 right now, and probably get to over 5 feet later on this evening, and then quickly recedes. so minor flooding for the creeks and streams there, where the sierra nevada could see 3 to 6 inches. it is a warm storm. snow levels, 8,500 feet. but cold system is on the way next week. emeryville right now, light
