has been very, very difficult, and this is our way to honor him and to remember him doing what we've done together for the last three years which is making news music together. >> classmates hung notes outside the theater share memories and say thanks. the school collected donations to help his family, including his father who is a sheriff's deputy. ♪ >> the school is planning a full performance january 13th to honor both victims a former student at the school. there were several benefits for the fire victims' families tonight. ♪

>> abc7 news was at the bottom of the hill as bands played a special concert with all proceeds going to the victim's families. barrett clark was one of the victims, a long time sound engineer at bottom of the hill. >> you never realize the reach of these people until something like this happens. everyone comes out of the wood work, the bands, so many different groups that worked with barrett who passed and some of the other victims and the patrons are on board. >> organizers say the turnout has been incredible. two more benefit concerts are planned tomorrow and next wednesday night. there are plenty of ways to help the families of the victims. more than 60 $0,000 has been donated to the. another one has gathered more than $400,000. we have the links on our

website. find this badge on our page on facebook. the entire bay area got a good soaking that caused down trees and power outages. we are live in san francisco with the story. >> reporter: any time we have these extended rains, the downed trees and branches like this one seem to be the biggest problems. this needs to be cut apart. we even saw entire trees come down. >> one of the biggest impacts this storm left was on this 200 foot tree that came down across state highway 13 in oakland. officers arrived to find the tree blocking all four lanes and a car trapped. >> the driver is trapped inside his vehicle. my partner and others go to extract the driver, get the

driver out, and the driver was uninjured. >> the chp officer did the driver spotted the tree falling and didn't know if he should speed or slam on the brakes. he stopped and got caught. southbound lanes were closed for about three hours until it was cut apart. rain soaked tree roots are a problem across the area. there was another one that fell onto an on romp on 880. in san francisco drivers were squeezed down to one lane because of the flooding. there were other weather related issues, but it didn't dampen the spirits of several people who dressed up. >> it's a city. it's always like this. i love it. >> the annual santa event had a good turnout. umbrellas became a popular accessory to the santa suit. a look live outside right now from our camera. it's quiet, but the real question is when are we going to

hours ago. the trend will continue into tomorrow morning but we'll have a dry break. however another storm heading our way next week with impressive rain totals. i'll have that next. >> another fallen tree kept p ge crews busy. ten homes and businesses lost power. the tree landed on power lines. drivers encountered flooding when a creek overflowed. search and rescue will be out in the morning looking for a skier. it happened on a closed ski run on the nevada side. crews searched the back country for the missing 60-year-old man this afternoon but had to suspend the search because of weather conditions. the skier was with another man who got out of the avalanche. in the south bay a woman died when officers tried to pull her over.

her car slammed into a a light pole. police say the car was stolen and the woman sped off. she was rejected from the vehicle. investigators said they were not pursuing the driver when they crashed. a seven year veteran of the police department is in jail accused of domestic violence. fellow officers arrested daniel bird early this morning. when they responded to the call just over midnight a woman he had been dating had visible injuries. he has been placed on paid leave. for the first time since callen kaepernick announced his protest, his parents are speaking out. they say they do support him. they say they wanted to release a statement because they kept seeing articles saying they don't support him, but they assure everyone they're proud and admire their son's courage in kneeling in the rights of parts.

overnight and a dry day tomorrow. partly cloudy with high clouds moving through. we'll get quite a bit of sun shine for sunday and get ready, another storm coming in next week. so midnight tonight we'll see some of the clouds over the bay area and then that sweeps south. we'll wake up to fairly clear conditions and that allows for some cool temperatures when you wake up tomorrow. but it will be a nice day to head outdoors. it will be dry, although on the cool side with a few high clouds in the afternoon. morning lows will be dropping down into the chilly 30s for parts of the north bay. discovery dale, 38. santa rosa 37. low 40s for inland areas. san francisco at 47 as well as h san jose. tomorrow cooling. san francisco hitting 53.

look for mid 50s through napa and high clouds passing through. on our storm impact scale rated from one light to five severe our next storm will be moderate. that's level two. this is going to hit us tuesday through wednesday. we can expect about 1 to 3 inches of rain in the north bay, so quite a soaker as well, and then around the bay look for anywhere from three quarters to an inch 1/2 and less than that as we head south. i want to go through the animation. we'll be dry through monday. tuesday we'll wake up fairly dry. the rain moves in. tuesday after afternoon and continues into the evening. wednesday will be wet as well will a little break in the evening. and then thursday and then friday is when we get a nice break again. here's the accuweather 7-day forecast. get ready for the wet one and enjoy the two-day dry spell.
