uber said their cars do not need a permit because there is a human operator inside. it said the cars cannot run without a human monitor. >> they should not need a permit because a self-driving car with a person is safer than someone selling out their cell phone running red lights and cutting people off because they on facebook. i don't think they need a permit. >> i don't think can you rely on technology. technology can fail. there are problems. human error is explainable. >> taxi driver posted this video of an unbird running a red line in downtown san francisco. on the left side the light towns red and on the right side you can see what is an uber self-driving car running the light. the dmv has a list of companies that need permits to test drive cars. uber is not on the list.
