now at 11:00, a ride in this cab ended in sexual assault for this south day woman. police say they know of at least one more victim but there may be more. good evening, thank you for joining us, i'm ama dietz. this all happened when this woman jumped in the cab. police say that julio sanchez picked up the woman but next assaulted her rather than taking her home. >> katie marzullo has more. >> reporter: police say the man picked up the woman in downtown campbell that he used his position as a cab driver, put him in a position of power and enabled him to take advantage of her. police say that the woman got in the cab after a night with friends. >> she woke up inside a taxi cab driver's home while she was

being assaulted. >> reporter: she was able to get away and went right to police. surveillance video from a downtown business helped police identify the suspect, 38-year-old julio sanchez, he was arrested earlier this month, but campbell police say the investigation is not over. >> while we hope there are no other victims the information we have leads us to believe we could potentially see it. >> reporter: police say it is important for a woman to come forward because otherwise the same person could violate more women. >> reporter: sanchez was working for checkered flag yellow taxi, the address was listed in mountain view but the address doesn't exist. a cab driver said he knew about sanchez and that he had a reputation for attracting police. >> since we knew this guy was the dirtiest guy, we stayed away from him. >> reporter: campbell police say

they're working in other cities and are still investigating how legitimate the cab company is. well, you won't be seeing any more of uber self-driving cars on san francisco streets. late this afternoon, the dmv announced they were removing the vehicles because they were not marked as test drivers. uber says they will remain committed to california, in response to the dmv's decision, the mayor said i'm a proponent of vehicles but only if the safety of bikers and drivers are not at risk. he said 20 other companies in the city had no trouble doing this. and san francisco's police department is making changes for its use of force policy. the vote happened in the last two hours just a day after mayor ed lee made his pick and announced a new chief police.

more at city hall with the story. >> reporter: dan, this was a year in the making, finally a new use of force policy that the commission president says will be a model for the country. >> we have been working on this use of force for a long time. >> reporter: it was unanimous, but getting to a final vote was not easy. san francisco's new use of force policy took 12 months of revisions and negotiations. >> we came together and really put together a policy that is going to be a national model on reengineering use of force, saving lives and making sure officers have what they need to keep us safe. >> the changes come after a series of fatal police shootings, including the killing of mario woods. from now on officers will no longer be able to employ chokeholds, and they will no longer be able to shoot at

moving vehicles. the police commissioner said that it accounts for exceptional circumstances. >> i think it had common sense language that the officers saw, in the event they have to do something to protect the public. so i think ultimately there is something in there for everyone. >> reporter: this is a major change in the rank and file, not only will they have to adjust to a new policy change, but a new leader as well who will be sworn in, in january. in san francisco, lillian kim, abc 7 news. this arrest has led to an internal investigation involving bart police. this is body cam footage captured last july and made public today showing the arrest of michael smith at the embarcadero bart station, who was with his pregnant

girlfriend, andrea anticipate apple -- appleton, the police say they were responding to a robbery. >> i was just scared. i didn't know what to do. >> appleton says she believes an officer who placed a knee on her back while she was belly down caused her to miscarriage. smith was acquitted on battery charges, the jury was hung on other counts. tonight, morgan hill police say a man accused of attacking his neighbor with a baseball bat turned himself in. mark weber turned himself in at the police headquarters. a dispute may have led weber to attack his neighbor. that neighbor was taken to the hospital with major injuries. tonight, two people are in the hospital after a bus crash in china town. san francisco's general says that both are steadily

improving. last night they slammed into this muni stop. a tomorrow of ten people were hurt. mayor ed lee said he is glad to see the victims recovering and in good spirits. and a man in napa is accused of appealing to people's kindness and then counseling them out of cash. police say he raised money for cancer research for kids. the officer called the number on the display and found out the fundraiser was a fraud. police say that he urthey urge anybody who was contacted to get their money back. and police departments in the united states and including here in the bay area are on high alert. departments in new york city, chicago and here in san francisco are making a public show of force at places where crowds gather at christmastime. for us that is union square, mounted cycle and horse units will patrol the high shopping

areas. and high alert here comes as the manhunt is on tonight for anis amiri. the attack killed 12 people, injured 48 more, the islamic state has claimed responsibility for the assault. authorities are offering a reward of more than $100,000 leading to an arrest. and a report on north carolina's controversial bathroom bill, after hours of debate nothing changed. >> today, the legislature had a chance to do the right thing for north carolina. and they failed. >> the special session is over. but north carolina's bathroom bill still stands. >> i don'tknow if you think the public is stupid or we're stupid or who is stupid, but it just does not make sense. >> the state's democratic lawmakers are frustrated and angry, and accusing republicans

of a bait and switch. first proposing a bill that would repeal hb 2, but including a provision that would stop local governments from passing anti-discrimination laws for at least six months. >> it is not normal to waste four days to accomplish nothing. >> we had a great opportunity, i think, to do some good work. >> the so-called bathroom bill says people can only use the bathroom in public and government buildings that matches the gender listed on their birth certificate. opponents call it discrimination against lgbt people. supporters say it's just safety. >> most people want to use the bathroom they're comfortable with. >> it cost big business, pay pal pulled hundreds of jobs out of charlotte, and numerous musicians cancelled concerts there. >> i'm afraid the public conscienceness outside of the state will hold us accountable. >> they felt it would retain

shot also and recovering. former co-worker lindsey mitchell says that pult knew the risks of owning a pawn shop and getting robbed. >> he always said they can have what they want. >> police say two armed men wearing hoodies got away. >> they killed this wonderful soul and robbed his family. >> timothy pult leaves behind a wife and children, friends set up a go fund me page to help with funeral expenses. a youtube star known for video pranks is now calling for a boycott of delta airlines claiming he was kicked off a plane for speaking arabic. >> you guys are racist, i can't believe my eyes, i spoke a word, a different language and you feel uncomfortable. >> adam posted a video of him and a friend being escorted off

a plane at london's heathrow airport. he said that passengers said they felt bad when he spoke arabic. delta said that there was shouting and other provocative behavior. delta says this behavior is not acceptable on any flight. and coming to an emotional end. she had stage 4 cancer when she recorded episodes of jeopardy back in august. she competed while on numerous pain killers and with a high fever as well. at times she had to whisper all of her responses, despite that, the courageous 41-year-old won six straight episodes. alex tribek honored her memory. >> so our sincere condolences to her family and friends. >> cindy passed away a week
