dawn. >> the morning commute won't be the worst of it. spencer christian is tracking the storm, expected to bring rain, hail, and storm. >> you can't tell by looking at live doppler 7 because it looks calm. there is a storm of moderate intensity, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall. gusts from 20-40 miles per hour and a chance of thunder, hail, and snow levels down to 2000 feet. we'll see clouds becoming thicker and during early morning hours, rain surges into the bay area by 5:00 a.m., areas of yellow and orange will see that covering most of the bay area as the morning commute gets underway. here is what you can expect.

news app. >> at 6:00 sky 7 over the western end of san francisco's golden gate park after three small fires burned and began within 100 feet along john f kennedy drive. you can see it through the trees there. arson investigators are looking to see if someone set the fires. firefighters raced to the facility because of a release inside of a building. the situation began on dwight way, just before 4:00 this afternoon. berkeley firefighters tell us no one was hurt and no ammonia released outside of the building. >> new details on a deadly stabbing have police saying it was a justifiable homicide. alisa harrington joins us with

new information. alisa? >> police aren't calling this an attempted robbery that resulted in a justifiable homicide. the victim is a san leandro man recovering at the hospital tonight. police say that he turned the tables on his attacker when he grabbed the knife, and fought back. >> i don't know what they're fighting for. >> she saw two men suffering from stab wounds around 12:45 a.m. one died and police are calling this a justifiable homicide. they say the victim of a robbery and violent attack wrestled a knife from the suspect, then, stabbed him to death. >> you're allowed to defend yourself and use whatever force you need to defend your own life. and it appears on the face that that is what the victim was doing m this case. >> lieutenant clark says the 22-year-old suspect was hiding and looking for someone to rob, when a man walked by, talking on a cell phone.

the suspect approached him, demanded his phone, wallet and stabbed him multiple times. the victim tossed his wallet and ran. >> he's running away and the suspect is giving chase. running after him. so the suspect catches up to the victim. victim turns. and in some sort of a fight, manages to take away the knife. and then, stabs the suspect in self-defense, we believe. >> one neighbor heard screaming and called 911. >> he was like help me, help, i'm going to die. help me, help. >> i heard two guys fighting and they came. and one guy was on the floor. >> only the victim survived. both victim and suspect lived in the area and did not know each other. >> police are looking for the people who drove a car into an

office connected to a thrift store. it damaged the office at 167th avenue and 14th street. >> police union is going to court to stop a policy commissioner as proved last night. they're charging the commission negotiated in bad faith. vic? >> police union president was reelected last night says both sides had reached an agreement on almost all recommendations except for a couple important ones which he says were adopted last night. >> working on this for a long time.

john prescott white faced felonies after a raid in his home but this week, prosecutors agreed to a plea deal, reducing charges to a single misdemeanor. under the agreement white will serve a month in jail, forfeiting $81,000, 45 pounds of marijuana and 18 plants in the rain. a new law using your cell phone while driving goes into affect, making it illegal to handle your cell phone while driving. actions like tapping and swiping are okay but the phone must be mounted.

a rise in bay area home values. according to zillow, prices in the san francisco metro area rose to a median $825,000, highest it's been. home values in san jose have followed a similar path and worth more, over all.

the median value is above $961,000. nationally rose at the fastest pace since 2006. but zillow says local prices are going up at a slower pace than last year. the dow continues to shy way from that $20,000 mark. today, it lost 23 points, ending at 19,918. s and p lost four points. tonight we have sad news to share about the warriors oldest and some would say, most dedicated fan named sweetie. she passed away at age 107. sweetie was surrounded by family and friends, her real name was helen brookes. she went to games when she could. when she couldn't, she watched on tv. the warriors issued a statement saying in part her presence during our championship season was big of a thrill for us as it
