impassable mixture of rock and mud shut down because of the mudslide. >> we're live at pacifica. good morning, amy. >> good morning, reggie. i have good news and bad news. i'll show you the good news. they are hard at work, and they think they'll have this open pretty soon. probably around 5:00 or 5:30. that's the good news. for anyone who needs to get to san francisco before then or anywhere north and live on the south side of pacifica, they cannot get through here. they have to go all the way around. i mean, highway 92 to half-moon bay. so that's when you realize how important one road can be to your routine. this is shut down at mar. this is a mudslide that is blocking the road here. they have heavy equipment out here to scoop all the debris out of the way. they feel they're making progress, so they think it'll be

reopen at 5:00 or 5:30. we'll be here to keep you posted on how they're doing so you can plan your livday. live in pacifica, abc 7 news. the storm caused flooding in the south bay and it is havin n an impact this morning. the closure runs southbound at tenth street and north at the highway 25 connection. no word yet on when the lanes will reopen. in morgan hill, another creek is giving homeowners grief. it transforms roads into rivers. residents worried about more rain on the way that could now get into their homes. >> it was unexpected. well, we heard it on the news. we had a few warnings on our phone, but we didn't think it would get this bad. turns out, it got worse than what we expected. >> people made their way to sandbag stations in preparation for even more rain.

in sonoma, the sheriff's department posted photos of deputies rescuing someone. 3,000 people have been told to evacuate their homes. michael shared video from the memorial bridge sunday afternoon. if you have photos or videos of whether where you live, put it on social media and use the hashtag abc 7 now. napa valley getting clobbered. at one point, it was two feet above flood stage. the city has undergone major changes since the 2000s. a devastating flood in 2005. the city has come a long way. >> water everywhere. the downtown area flooded. so people had sandbags. you know, businesses got water all in them and everything. so it is much better now. >> there are sandbags stacked in the doorways throughout downtown. the city closed off certai riverside parks and paths.

>> north bay, flooding and power outages are forcing schools in sonoma county to close classes. alexander valley, cloverdale, forestville, guerneville. harmony and monte rio won't have class today. two people were trapped in that car when a river overflowed its banks. firefighters found they could wade to the disabled car. they walked the two people out to safety. >> i was heading home on bailey, going west, and all of a sudden, the road just turned shiny and the flood water was coming over the road. next thing i know, the car stalled. we were ten feet from the edge of the water. a matter of ten minutes, the water had grown 20, 30 feet in front of us. >> the rescue was good timing. just after it was made, crews had to evacuate quickly because

the water started rising again. also in san jose, parts are so bad, a police cruiser got stuck. the officer was helping a stranded driver last night near st. teresa boulevard and bailey, west of 101. police say the water rose so fast, the officer parked at the scene, got trapped inside his squad car. >> we responded because it's what we have to do. we went to assist a motorist. yet, we can fall into the same traps if we're not cautious. >> everybody is okay. the driver is fine, and police called firefighters to help rescue the stranded officer. officials say this intersection is going to remain closed until the water recedes. a monsoon in martinez. look how much rain fell there overnight. one gauge suggested an inch an hour in that location.

as you can see, parts of pacheco boulevard turned into what looked like a river. thankfully, sandbags kept many downtown businesses dry. overnight in san francisco, crews closed part of the great highway along ocean beach due to flooding. rews are waiting for the water to recede before they reopen the highway. people in the santa cruz mountains are on alert for possible evacuation because of the fast rising river. volunteers went door to door, alerting residents of the rising river. >> we give them lots of warnings. the county has used the reverse 911 system to let people know what's going on. >> the process has been a smooth one. the river is being closely monitored. it has not yet reached flood stage. you can keep tabs on the latest storms on live doppler 7. downtown the abc 7 app and enable push alerts to get

advisories sent to your phone or tablet. developments in connection to the armed robbery of kim c kardashi kardashian-west. >> 16 people are in custody right now according to french police. they're being held for questioning. this does come after kim kardashian-west was robbed at gunpoint inside her paris hotel room in olctober. the crime reportedly out by a gang of men disguised as police officers. they made off with $10 million in cash and jewelry after holding a gun to the reality star's head, tying her up and putting her in a bathtub. c i'll watch for developments, especially if charges come down this morning. back to you. >> announcer: now, your accuweather forecast w nico. >> let's see what's going on.

highway 24 to lafayette, walnut creek, danville, black hawk, that area, one of the better showers right now. temperatures as you're heading out, up to 5 to 7 degrees cooler than they were yesterday. we're still in the 50s. this time yesterday, we were in the 60s. even warmer than we should be. dress for 50s everywhere, except for 1800 feet, 48 degrees. a look from south beach, the bridge is a little wet. poor driving conditions because everything is going to stay wet today with the drizzle and the showers this morning and more showers developing during the evening commute. breezes will develop north of the bay bridge. if you're taking the ferry, watch out for that. you'll be dodging light showers if you're out and about. walnut creek, you can see the light rain falling as we look southbound on 680 toward 24. temperatures in the mid to upper 50s today. low to mid 50s for wednesday. we go from light rain today to a

stronger storm tomorrow, to scattered showers wednesday. in fact, today's storm is a one. tomorrow is a two. let's get more on the commute from alexis. >> we have a lot of issues this morning. zoom in to the area. a tree is fully blocking the ramp. we don't have an estimate on when they can remove that. it is a busy corridor once the commute ramps up. hopefully it'll be long gone by that point. not seeing it on the traffic camera but i had a report of a spin-out. westbound 80 before the toll . there, a vehicle lost control and hit the barrier. it isn't raining hard, sprinkles, but we have to wet pavement. you have to drive for conditions. word of a bart delay. delay at daly city, in pittsburgh and bay point. dublin and pleasanton.

>> announcer: breaking news from the abc 7 live desk. >> a shooting involving an officer in san jose. it is under investigation now and could impact your commute. we want to show you video of the injured suspect being put into an ambulance. happened just before midnight on the corrector from northbound 101 to northbound 880. that ramp will be closed until the investigation is done. it is not clear at this point exactly what triggered the shooting. just prior to it, the officer called for help. the suspect was taken to the hospital. we don't know how that person is doing. san jose police are actively investigating that right now, as i've been mentioning. we are going to be keeping an eye on developments here at the live desk and in our newsroom. that's the latest for now. natasha? >> jessica, thank you. 4:42 now. happening today, the iraqi war veteran accused of killing five people in a florida airport is expected in court. a video of the shooting has been released. we want to warn you, some may find it disturbing.

this is surveillance video from last friday at florida international airport. esteban santiago in a blue shirt appears to the left of the screen. he reaches down, pulls the gun out and starts to fire. two months ago, an armed santiago made a dcry for help. >> he came into our office, broke no laws. there is no indication santiago was working with other individuals when he planned and carried out yesterday's attack. >> i'm sorry. i don't believe that was the correct sound bite. we meant to tell you about an incident in 2016 when he walked into an fbi office to report his mind was being controlled by a u.s. intelligence agency. he was hospitalized. when released, the fbi gave him back his gun. he faces federal charges involving murder, firearms and airport violence. if convicted, he could face the death penalty. confirmation hearings get underway for donald trump's

why it's flooded so quickly. >> take a look. this is what napa river looked like from sky 7. it's not going to take much more rain to overflow its banks. >> the raging napa almost touched the overpass in yountville. one resident is happy to see rain after so many years of drought. >> doesn't hurt the vineyards in the long run. we need the water, obviously. i think it is all great. >> once the rain stops, vineyards can assess whether the grapes for the wine crop will be damaged. with more storms approaching and the threat of more flooding, today is a good day to stock up on sandbags. there are sandbag filling stations. most communities supply the bags and the sand but take your own shovel in case they don't have one there. we have a list of

over 11 feet. over parts are still open to visitors. 4:53 now. happening today, two local va e rallies in support of obamacare. doctors and workers at highland hospital in oakland will demonstrate in favor of the affordable care act. 40 million people nationwide will lose coverage if the act is repe repealed. president-elect donald trump vowed to repeal obamacare his first day in office. republicans have not said what they plan to replace it with. vice-president joe biden will be in san francisco this afternoon to speak at a health care conference. he is going to talk about the cancer moon shot initiative, an effort to make a decades worth of cancer treatment and prevention in five years. in his final state of the union address, president obama charged biden to head up a any effort to end cancer as we know it. biden lost his eldest son, beau, to brain cancer a year and a half ago. if you have to pay for or

fight a ticket in santa clara county, buckle for a frustrating ride. the courts are dealing with a backlog right now. according to the bay area newsgroup, there is one full-time clerk, and she his 12,000 tickets behind now. you get the picture, doesn't add it. the county blames budget cuts. two new clerks are expected to start soon. now, it takes months for tickets to show up in the system. it is recommended you check online before you head to the court mouhous courthouse. take caution if you're going to be out and about today, especially the morning and afternoon commute. that's when we have scattered showers that'll keep the streets wet and slick. there are still debris on the roads from yesterday's storm. noon tomorrow to midnight wednesday, another high wind watch, especially above 1,500 feet. 60-mile-per-hour gusts are possible. downed trees and power lines.

[ and pleasanton. union pacific is warning of possible flooding. you could have delays between stockton and san jose. none reported yet. they'll have to slow the trains down if there is flooding on the tracks. we'll look at more closures coming up in less than ten. the wind and rain excised

chp officers. they wanted to use this porta potty at the scale house off of southbound 101. they noticed it wasn't where they'd seen it before. the high winds moved it all the way to the other side of the facility. chp posted the photo, saying they're thankful it never made it on to the freeway. north pbay tunnel will be closed until spring for repairs. repairs include better lighting and fixed cracks and leeaks in the tunnel. it'll replace water and sewer lines. work expected to last through the first week of may. round one of the storms is done, but not without leaving a mess behind. coming up next at 5:00 a.m., we're live in pacifica with a huge rock and mud slide blocking one of the few ways in and out of that community. plus, in the east bay, the storm leads to a few rescues. a pair of young people learn an important lesson. looking outside with abc
