major delay after a truck got stranded on the tracks. let's get right to abc7 news reporter matt keller live for us at the macarthur b.a.r.t. station. >> reporter: really frustrating morning. it is really cold out here at the macarthur station. a lot of people are bundling up waiting for the next train. we've seen a lot of trains coming through over the last half hour. but one of the problems that is happening for these passengers that are coming here is they're getting stacked up at the beginning of the macarthur station so all these trains are actually stopping on the tracks long before they get to the station here, so the delays, you can really see them coming in to the station here in oakland. i talked with one passenger who was really frustrated by his morning on b.a.r.t. >> we just got here. i'm fed up. i'm getting off and going back in the other direction because i don't know how bad it's going to be up there. >> reporter: we've been hearing over the loud speaker for people
6:01 am
to expect delays out here. if you come back out here live, you can see another train is coming in. this train was waiting outside of the station. it was one of the trains that was stacked up. so the next train is going to be for fremont. we've been seeing a lot of trains for san francisco, so the trains are coming through. they are working through this delay. but again, you could be sitting on the tracks not even at a station for several minutes this morning as you heard from our frustrated passenger. back to you in the studio. alexis smith first alerted us to this problem over an hour ago. she's still tracking the recovery system right now. >> they did not get that resolved for about 40 minutes and it all started with that disabled maintenance vehicle that was just stuck n the tracks between macarthur station where matt is and the 19th street station so they are in recovery mode but still have some trains stacking up and they're saying it is a major delay system-wide. that means over 20 minutes. i'd say we're probably at about

be stop and go from now until the end and it was a 20-25 minute delay. >> reporter: yeah, she said she had to call work to tell them that she's going to be late. she's normally about 45 minutes early to work, so today, she said this is the worst b.a.r.t. delay she's ever seen. but it did seem that the system is clearing out a little bit. we haven't seen the train stacking up outside of the macarthur station like we were seeing earlier this morning, and as people come in, a little bit happen ari happier faces than from the people who were getting aucht earlier trains so that's the good news this morning. alexis first alerted us to this problem two hours ago. >> she is still tracking the system's recovery. >> we first got word this happened at 4:40 this morning. matt told us the story there. that disabled vehicle long gone at this point and they're making progress but b.a.r.t. saying that is a major delay system-wide and major usually is categorized as 20 minutes or more. also have a quick updaut for the
