area, when their car hydroplaned crash into a creek, and only natalie survived. and the girls were best friends until the very end. >> reporter: this video of jennifer laughing was taken wednesday morning, and by wednesday night her car hydroplaned off of 101 and into a small creek near willets, california. and natalie griffin was in the passenger's seat and she noticed a way to escape through the sinking car, through a broken rear window. >> her friend was stuck and she couldn't get her out, and she survived but her friend didn't. jenna could not get out of the seat of the car, and for 12 hours she clung to a tree from the freezing water, and then swam to a bank and pulled

there was many factors. last year the circus removed the elephants from its shows after the battle between the use of bull hooks to get the elephants to perform. the practice was banned in oakland. happening today a rally by registered nurses in san francisco to save health care. the rally is part of a national day of action in favor of the affordable care act, also known as obamacare. advocates across the country will call on the incoming trump administration to expand access to health care. mr. trump has promised to repeal obamacare perhaps as early as friday, when he is sworn into office. today's rally begins at 1:00 at san francisco city hall. several members of congress from the bay area announced they will not attend the inauguration of president-elect trump. they join a growing list that may have expanded after mr. trump's tweets about a civil

squaw valley posted a professionial skier's runs this weekend. look at all of the snow. squaw received 97 inches over the past week. good morning to you, and temperatures just in the teens this morning. sierra nevada, live doppler 7 picking up moisture offshore, and that won't affect us but the fog is affecting much of the bay area. a half mile in conquered, and all around the water, around richmond, very dense fog. a mile and three quarters in napa, and look at petaluma. this will change and move around quickly, and it could get worse through sunrise. it will be with us through the middle of the morning, and by 9:00, 10:00, we will see patches of fog right over the bay, and noontime, though, we will look for sunny conditions. it's going to take some time.

this evening, 5 to 6 feet wave heights right now, and we run the rig are bg of sneaker waves and rip currents, and we expect the beaches will be a nice place to hangout. on wednesday, we bring in the storm impact scale. it's a 2. we will see showers and heavy downpours toward the evening hours, and with that the potential for power outages. the light rain arriving through 10:00 through much of the afternoon, and then 9:00, the winds get heavy and kick in, and on thursday, a brief break before more rain heads our way thursday into friday morning. looking like it could last through the weekend. really it's a good time to make sure that we are prepared and those storms drains are cleared. this is the first system, and maybe an inch in the north bay and when the winds kick up on thursday night, it's more of a wind event as the system moves through quickly, and 30-mile-per-hour winds perhaps, and we add on friday rain

now your forecast with lisa argen. >> here's live doppler 7, and we are not tracking any precipitation, but boy is it foggy, the visibility reduced to near zero in parts of the east bay valleys, and oakland, quarter of a mile, and in conquercord. it will get worse before sunrise, and it will be with us at least until 11:00, and it's going to sit right over the water, so by the afternoon, we are counting on sunny skies but it's going to be awfully tricky between now and then if you are navigating some of the local bridges. the golden gate bridge you can see that nobody is there, and 47 in san francisco, and 40 in oakland and 39 in mountain view, and 42 in san jose and 36 in gilroy and low 40s on the coast. from emeriville right now, nice

rain, and the sub tropical moisture headed at the bay area, and then it's going to sag south, so we will get a little break into thursday, but as we time out wednesday for you, you are leaving for work and it should be dry, but by mid morning, the light rain moves in and by 9:00 wednesday night, it's heavier. there's a brief break on thursday, and we will still have light rain around, though, and on friday, another round of heavier rain, and it looks like the second half of the weekend could be the strongest out of the three. so we are looking pretty wet once again, and with the gusty winds out of the south come wednesday, we're once again worried about the possibility of some of the trees and power lines coming down. rainfall amounts, this is through the first part of the weekend, an additional one to two inches, and highs today under sunny skies should be pleasant in the mid-50s, and 56 in vallejo, and if you are head up to the sierra nevada, it's crowded but pretty with temperatures in the 30s, and getting warmer each and every day. for the holiday tomorrow, about 40.

luther king, jr. the celebration train will leave the station at 9:45 tomorrow morning and arrive in san francisco at 11:00 where passengers join the mile and a half march to the annual king day celebration at the gardens. the train was going to be discontinued in 2015 because of lagging ticket sales, but corporate sponsors stepped forward to pick up the tab. up next on abc 7 mornings at 6:00, a road trip ends in tragedy for two best friends from the bay area. only one returns home after a harrowing ordeal. now a community is in mourning. bay area businesses making their own plans with president-elect's inauguration, as he lashes out at a civil rights icon who calls his presidency illegitimate.

good morning, everybody. i am carolyn tyler, and thank you for joining us on this sunday, january 15th. let's start with a quick look at the record with our meteorologist, lisa argen. >> looking at live doppler 7, and we are not talking about the rain but the dense fog around the bay area. in fact, visibility is down to nearly nothing at the oakland airport and it could push in to sfo, and it's worse as you head toward the delta, three quarters of a mile in concord, and the north bay is really that. the bay bridge and the golden gate bridge and down around the san mateo bridge not an issue, but we are looking at the chilly temperatures and this profile takes us through 11:00 when the fog clears, but until then it will be very dicey out there and be careful. this morning, emeriville police are looking for the
