now at 11:00, the widow of the orlando gunman sits in a bay area jail tonight hours away from her first court appearance. we are learning new details about the charges and possible punishment facing noor salmon. >> it could be life in prison or possibly death. >> she was opened to omar mateen. he opened fire in the pulse nightclub in orlando last year leaving 49 people dead. >> seven months later and 3,000 miles away, she was arrested at her parents' home in rodeo. >> reporter: dan, when noor salmon appears in court tomorrow morning, the indictment against her will probably be unsealed and we'll know a lot more about how the fbi came to charge her in connection with the deadliest

mass shooting in u.s. history. the u.s. attorney's office says noor salmon has been accused of aiding and abetting her husband omar mateen in the deadly assault. >> she's being charged with aiding and abetting and materially aiding the criminal act, so she could be prosecuted in essence, as a principle, as if she were the one who went to the nightclub. >> reporter: mateen texted his wife and she accompanied him as he went to buy at least one weapon. >> she would have the evidence. >> reporter: life in prison or the death penalty. she's also charged with obstruction of justice. a statement was released saying noor salmon had no foreknowledge, nor could she

predict what omar mateen planned to do. noor has told a story of abuse at his hands. we believe it is wrong and it dishonors the memory of the victims to punish her. a next door neighbor told us what he heard. >> like people walking around, car doors slamming. and dogs went off like crazy. >> reporter: salmon is to appear in oakland federal court tuesday morning. katie marzullo, abc 7 news. the search is out for this driver. he took bay area deputies on a wild ride friday night, causing a sheriff's deputy to crash a patrol car. now now, days later that felon is still on the run. we are joined live from fremont. lillian? >> reporter: police here say they spotted the suspect at this

strip mall two days before he e leeluded deputies. authorities say eddie newt failed to pull over after deputies in richmond recognized him as a carl burglary suspect. two days prior, newt also managed to escape after officers tried to arrest him for an auto burglary at the strip mall. he is part of a violent oakland street gang that's been breaking into cars all over the bay area, they say. his arrest warrant is related to an investigation involving 50 counts of auto burglary. the area has certainly had its share of car break-ins. >> there's cars all over the place. and everybody just comes over here, so i wouldn't think someone sees what they want,

people ran for their lives from the blue parrot nightclub which was hosting an electronic music festival event. one of the dead victims was crushed trying to escape. at least nine people were injured. police say a lone shooter remains on the loose. more than three dozen members of congress say they will not attempt donald trump's inauguration on friday. that includes four congress men and women who represent distributdi districts here in the bay area. >> reporter: in oakland, to celebrate martin luther king jr. day, barbara lee reaffirmed her position that she sees no reason to do the same at friday's inauguration of president-elect donald trump. >> when you look at the gain of divisiveness and bigotry and the fact that nothing has changed since the campaign, i don't think that's something i need to do in terms of celebrating. >> reporter: lee was one of the

by 4:00, partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s, and then we're tracking three storms in seven days. storm number one arrives on wednesday, the next storm quickly follows on thursday and friday and storm number three is coming over the weekend. the storm impact scale, this is a two, a moderate storm, we'll have showers in the morning, light in nature, picking up in intensity in the afternoon and evening. so, too, are the winds turning gusty in the evening. so the biggest issue we have is power outage concerns. let's go hour by hour for you. watch the time stamp. 8:00 in the morning, light showers mainly in the north bay. the storm is going to get its act together and then we'll watch the downpours. the yellows and oranges is the heavier rain beginning in the north bay, sinking south, moving through the heart of the bay area, and as it moves into the south bay, it will lose a bit of its punch but will bring showers

as it dissipates approaching the midnight hour. it will have a wide range in rainfall. the highs will certainly be in the north bay, one to two inches. through the heart of the bay area, maybe a half inch to an inch. around san jose, less in the way of rainfall, but we will all feel the gusty winds midweek. future tracker wind gusts right along the coast, winds gusting over 40 miles per hour. watch in the evening, by 6:00, those winds gusting over 30, close to 40 miles per hour. the winds will subside once that front moves through. that's likely not going to happen until close to midnight on thursday. so storm concerns we have, winds, power outage is a moderate concern, and especially the wednesday morning commute. high dydr hydroplaning. creek flooding looks low because
