shhhh. hey i'll share my yoplait custard if you share your yoplait dippers? deal. deal. mmmm. the family favorite. yoplait. i am carolyn tyler. thank you for joining us on this sunday, january 29th. let's start with a quick look at the weather with our meteorologist, lisa argen. >> hey, carolyn, good morning to you. it's clear for the most part and a little patchy fog in santa rosa, and here's live doppler 7 confirming that. boy, do we have cold temperatures starting off this morning, and we're clear in the bay area and all around the state, and 32 in san ramon, and 35 in lafayette, and as we widen the view, still 30s in santa

rosa and upper 30s in the south bay from mountain view from the south bay. we will warm up but it will take a while. low 50s by noontime. plenty of sunshine again today. the dry weather continues. slightly warmer with low 60s today, and that's above average for some. >> thank you, lisa. protests are expected again this morning at airports in the bay area and all overt country. the kedemonstrations are in response to president trump's ban order. the countries are syria, yemen, and iraq, iran, and libya, and protesters are expected back at the international arrivals terminal at noon today. this was the scene at sfo last night where at one point 1,000 people gathered protesting the controversial executive order.

officials say 375 travelers in all were impacted by the order. 173 of them denied entry into the u.s. a federal judge in new york has issued a stay temporarily blocking the implementation. federal judges in virginia and seattle have since followed suit. that was, of course, welcome news for protesters here in san francisco, and across the country. the new york judge's order will ensure those detained will not be sent home for the time being. sergio quintana was at sfo and had more. >> reporter: some protesters moved their demonstration from the arrivals to tsa security. >> the three i am waiting for, i am looking forward to seeing them on the other side. >> reporter: she is an attorney for the asian law office, and according to the mayor's office,

seven people were temporarily detained here because they hold passports from the seven countries donald trump banned in an executive order on friday. >> we just got news that a judge in the eastern district of new york granted an emergency stay of the executive order. >> according to the judge's order anybody in transit to the u.s. or detained upon arrival who has a valid visa or green card would not be affected by trump's order. >> she arrived at 1:30 p.m. to san francisco airport but they deport her to my country. >> this protest at sfo ballooned to about 1,000 people at one point. it included state and local officials who said presidnt trump's executive order triggered chaos and infusion for people who had to interpret and enforce it. >> it feels chaotic and

unsettling and it feels really dark and it's really a frustrating situation to be in. >> organizers say they plan on being here for the long haul. at sfo, abc 7 news. more specifics now on the federal judge's emergency stay on part of president trump's executive order. any citizens in those seven countries in the order who have arrived or in transit to the united states have to be allowed in if they hold a valid visa, and the government must provide a list of the people being detained, and it does not halt the enforcement of the order in the future. this is new york, more than 2,000 people demonstrated there. the agency that runs the airport tried to restore order by shutting down the train that runs to the airport terminals, but the governor andrew cuomo

running from the scene of a double shooting. two girls were wounded during a party inside a senior center on merced boulevard yesterday. no word on what led to the gunfire. myrrh said. the family of a woman that has been missing since last saturday will be back out today looking for her. the 18-year-old jenkins was driving her car when it plunged into the alameda creek last weekend. leslie brinkley has the story. >> reporter: it was a physically gruelling and emotionally charged search effort, with teams spanning out along the vast creek bed that is more like a river. about 100 volunteers joined jenkins' family as they concentrated on the creek west of mission boulevard out to the bay, where the waterway is lined with walking trails. >> i got a couple coworkers

willing to bring out kayaks and go to the bay to take a look at areas we can't get to. >> east of here another official search zeroed in on the creek where her car plunged into the water last saturday during a storm, and waters were five feet higher and flowing faster, and her car was recovered tuesday but no sign of the 18-year-old. niles road was shut down as an army of experts emerged here. >> they are going to get down closer to the water, and they are going to look for things that have not been able to be searched before. >> we are doing everything we can. we have boots on the ground and our uav's up, and k-9s are out and we are putting every effort forward to make sure we bring jade yo home to her family. >> volunteers that found clothes

or shoes texted them back to her dad to see if they were significant. they said she is strong, so we're going strong to find her. in fremont, abc 7 news. governor jerry brown scheduled to undergo a new round of cancer treatments in san francisco. he will be treated sometime between late next month and early march at ucsf, and doctors diagnosed brown with prostate cancer back in 2012 and underwent treatment for several weeks and his doctors say the governor's prognosis is excellent and the 78-year-old brown is expected to continue with his work during the treatment. the oakland a's are expected to announce the site of their new ballpark sometime this year. at yesterday's fanfest, the team president said the organization narrowed it down to four locations. howard terminal near jackland and square, lany college and

jose. it's all caught on surveillance video. it happened around 10:30 friday night at the taco bell kfc. you can see the man holding his hand out and after the cashier hands him the money, another employee runs from behind and takes it away and he fights with customer jumps over the railing to help hold him down. >> it's one of those situations with a happy ending. it's a volatile situation. >> the suspect went to the hospital with minor injuries and nobody else was hurt. and then demolition set to begin tomorrow because of an eroding cliff. crews finished removing lead and asbestos and other hazardous material from the site.

the storms caused more of the cliff side to give way, and crews had to knock down two other buildings on the avenue in recent years because of that erosion. 3,000 security guards in silicon valley are now members of a union. the service employees international union welcomed them yesterday. the guards worked at companies like facebook, cisco and google. the union's now negotiating contracts for them that will, of course, include higher pay. right now most earn $12 to $20 an hour, and they say that's not enough to live comfortably in the bay area especially with families to support. >> $2,000 a month, you will be lucky to get a one-bedroom apartment, and we have to live with other family members. >> abc 7 news contacted the contractors and the tech companies involved, and only facebook got back to us saying they are not commenting.

the company referred us to its policy requiring outside contractors to provide a $15 minimum wage and 15 paid days off. internet providers are still working on installing fiber optic cable for everybody who wants it. now a small company is offering to fill the gap, but one couple had a hard time getting in on the deal until 7 on your side's michael finney stepped in. >> reporter: richard and sherry could spend hours viewing historic photos on line, and sometimes it took that long. >> we have lived with a very slow speed internet. >> so slow that some applications would time-out. >> reporter: the couple lives in san francisco's outer sunset where internet wiring is outdated so they were thrilled when sonic of santa rosa offered new saoefiber optic service. they could have e-mail, phone

and tv for $100 a month. >> we went with it. >> reporter: weeks passed and nobody came to install it so they called sonic and found out why. >> they had us in their system as an apartment building, therefore they didn't want to deal with us. >> reporter: the couple tried to explain they live in a single family home and they own it. >> i said there's no apartment buildings for a mile in radius where we live in the outer sunset, and we are a house, but they said, i'm sorry, you are still an apartment building. >> reporter: sonic kept saying it couldn't reach their landlord to wire the building. finally they contacted 7 on your side and we contacted sonic and a supervisor connected the mistake and got them their service. sonic tells us overwhelming demand caused a backlog and the apartment building problem? somebody got two orders mixed

notice we have the typical 30s in gilroy and 30s around the south way and peninsula and mid-40s at the coast. you had gusty winds yesterday and dialed back in the afternoon. anywhere from 1:00 to 3:00, it should feel pretty good out there before we get into rapid cooling once again. 31 in santa rosa. you have patchy fog. 45 in novato, and so certainly a cold start and by this afternoon temperatures will be just a little bit above normal for some of you, and then another sunny and milder day tomorrow with increasing clouds on tuesday. the wet pattern starts on wednesday, but it's going to be late on wednesday, so we're looking at very scant amounts of rain come wednesday night. today more warming. look at the 64 in san jose. that's above average with temperatures about three or four degrees average in livermore today. 61 in sal s

as for tomorrow, we are looking at the warmest day of the week with the most sun. numbers in the mid and upper 60s, and clouds will be on the increase and you will notice the temperatures dialing back from the upper 50s in richmond with still 60s around the bay. we will look for the changes to come in earnest on wednesday and that's when we bring in our storm impact scale, and light scattered showers late in the day, and so most of the day will be dry. the evening commute still looks dry, and then we look for the breezy winds in advance of the system headed our way late on wednesday. right now the timing looks like this. 9:00 in sonoma county, and then looking at, say, perhaps after midnight when most of you maybe hear the rain, and then by your thursday morning commute, it will be messy and breezy, and we will have scattered light showers, and this is going to last right through friday. another forecast model wants to keep us with us into saturday. early estimates around the bay will bring in anywhere from over an inch of rain in most spots.

southbound migration, and you can see the big sur coast in the background. happening today, you can get your first chance to shop at the preview of northern california's biggest garage sale. every year hundreds of people line up for hours for the white elephant sale in oakland. a warehouse near 880 and fruit vail avenue will be filled with donated clothing, jewelry, arts, books and music, and all money goes to the arts museum women's board, and a admission to today's event is $15, and the first public sale is scheduled and the wait is almost over for one of america's favorite treats. and dozens of volunteers unloaded and sorted more than 115,000 boxes of girl scout cookies. the boxes go on sale starting next weekend, and the scouts are eager and excited to sell.

danville and livermore. not 55 in los gatos, and we will fix that for you, and 37 in san francisco. we are looking at temperatures to warm into the 50s by noontime. plenty of sunshine today, and high pressure remains our dominant weather feature, and that remains upper 50s to low 60s, and that's a little above average. we will look the ridge to stick around for another 24 to 48 hours before changes come. i will let you know when the rain arrives, how long it's going to stay and the amounts expected through this week coming up. thank you, lisa. now to president trump's controversial order calling for an immediate suspension of immigration from some countries. we have new details this morning on the number of people detained nationwide. officials say 375 travelers were

impacted by the order. of those, 109 were on their way here and denied entry. 173 of them were denied entry into the united states prior to boarding flights in other countries. we spoke with people who were waiting for their loved ones at the airport last night. >> this is, like, really sad, that you are personally getting affected. everything is sad if you are putting a group of people from a certain country or religion aside and saying you shouldn't come. i am trying to stay calm and don't stress out but it's just not easy. >> a federal judge in new york issued a partial stay, and protesters say they plan to be back at sfo today at noon, and many stayed until past 3:00 this morning. >> kidnapped there from the terrorists and came here as refugees, and my mother will not be able to enter so we will have to go back there. >> the mayor's office tells us

seven people were temporarily detained at sfo because they hold passports from one of those seven countries. that stay order had a real affect for dozens of people waiting for relatives at sfo, and abc 7 news reporter kate larson spoke with one family and has their story. >> reporter: while protest wrurz in their shots filled sfo's international terminal, families with loved ones detained behind custom doors waited. >> a permanent u.s. resident with a green card was held by customs in border protection for six hours after he arrived from iran by way of germany. he and others were detained or sent back to the middle east after president trump ordered an immediate immigration suspension from seven predominantly muslim

tonight, and one person i spoke to, her mother was trying to visit from iran but was put back on a plane to the middle east, and she has not seen her mother in more than a year and now she's not sure when they will be reunited. california's lieutenant governor joined protesters and had a blunt message. >> he's a monarch, and guys like >> he met with family members waiting for their loved ones, and newsam says he's frustrated. last night hillary clinton tweeted i stand with the people gathered across the country tonight defending our values and

constitution. many democratic lawmakers are condemning the order. so far six elected republicans have spoken out against it. cameras captured a powerful moment at dallas ft. worth international airport when the first woman held under the ban was finally cleared to enter the country. the crowd chanting "usa" as the unidentified woman is greeted by family members, and up to 50 people by those countries have been detained by dfw alone according to our affiliate in dallas. dozens protested president trump's plan to move forward with the construction of the pipeline. and they marched through the mission district. protesters say the pipeline will destroy the environment. supporters say it reduces

rangers are all involved in the investigation. hoping statements are set to begin tomorrow in the trial of a man accused of killing morgan hill teenager, lamar. if convicted the suspect, torres, faces a possible death sentence. police arrested him three months after lamar disappeared while on her way to school back in 2012. his trial has been delayed several times since then. lamar was 15 years old when she vanished. her body has never been found. an injured back country skier is in the hospital this morning recovering from injuries he suffered in the high sierra. a highway patrol helicopter was called in to rescue him. this video from the chopper shows the injured skier being airlifted to safety, and he injured his leg and could not continue, and fellow skiers called for help. the highway patrol flew the man to a waiting ambulance where he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

in south los angeles, video has emerged of a violent crash involving several cars and a school bus carrying children. watch that white car on the right pull out on to normandy avenue, and an suv swerved to miss it and slam spwaod a los angeles unified school bus that takes out two parked cars, and the bus ended up on top of the cars. one student on the bus immediately called her mother after the crash. >> crying, and weeping, so i freaked out. but when i saw her standing and that she was okay, i -- you know, that was the relief. >> the highway patrol says the bus driver and the driver of the suv and four students were hurt. none seriously. officers say the driver who caused the accident left the scene. still ahead on abc 7 mornings, remembering princess diana. the permanent tribute to her that will soon be standing on the grounds of kensington

commissioning a statue to honor their late mother, princess diana. william and harry say the time is right to recognize her positive impact on britain and around the world. william and harry have convened a commission to raise funds and oversee the design of the statue that will stand on the grounds of kensington palace. and a runner collapses and strangers jump in to save his life, and then the race is on to find them. he was yards away from the finish line and got tunnel vision and blacked out, and he posted a plea on facebook to find those people that helped him. >> i could not believe how good he looked. >> fills my heart with joy that

dance competition in san carlos last week. the kids have been watching videos of robin schrieber, and the teachers hopes it will teach the students how to take risks and step out of their comfort zone, and they were thrilled when robin accepted their invitation to visit. i think she has new moves. i don't know if she was dancing at the arena last night,but a lot of other people were cheering. in sports, the warriors on the road again in the second game of a back to back, and they take on oakland native damian, and the trail blazers. golden state coming off a blowout win over the clippers at oracle, and here's schu with highlights in sports. >> the warriors had concerns last night, pregame against their southern cal rivals.

46 in half moon bay. we had some 60s yesterday. we will get there again today. from our roof camera, a very nice view. and 31 in santa rosa, and patchy fog. it's 34 by the delta where you have that fog. some of it is freezing fog. concord, 36. and novato, all the way up to 45 degrees. here's a look at the fog profile. by about 11:00, it will really just be confined out towards the delta and we will continue to see that sunshine, work on it and allow for conditions to worsen as we get through the overnight hours as the fog comes back, so kind of a cool picture for you from santa cruz with numbers in the low 60s. isn't that nice? today we will do all of that again with a cold start, sunny and mild today and tomorrow we will hold on to the full sunshine. then the ridge breaks down on tuesday, and that will bring some clouds around. it's going to take until wednesday until we see a return
