proteiny protein? protein proteiny protein. at least 14 grams of protein. 100 calories. new greek 100 protein. from yoplait. a major storm is hitting the bay area right now. live doppler 7 is lit newspapup green and the region is being pounded by relentless wind and rains. >> and look at this mudslide collapsing into a back side of a home. thank you for joining us, i'm natasha zouves. >> and i'm kristen zse. let's show you the conditions outside of your door right now. this storm definitely bringing heavy rain as you could see, san rafael is getting soaked on the left. >> further south, so manyinous clouds over the san mateo bridge
11:01 am
and looking at sfo, the rain and a storm back east is creating a nightmare for travelers. let's get to mike nicco for a first look at live doppler 7. >> and the first flooding is for the mark west creek in laguna desanta rosa and i just checked the latest gauges and it is dropping over the last couple of hours but we still have several hours of modder ott to heavy rain and it will pick up and become heavy like it is down to the south moving across the san pablo bay that will cause ponding, vallejo, up toward crockett and napa and possibly hercules. and there is more yellow and orange. and the worst part of the storm is still coming our way. look at the moisture plume is 200% of average and when it bumps into the cold front, that is when the heaviest of the rain will start falling in your neighborhood. so this is a storm three.
11:02 am
strong on our storm impact scale. the highest impact in the north bay and santa cruz mountains. but all of us are going fof to have -- to have downpours and flooding. coming up at 11:17, we've had major issues at b.a.r.t. >> so video at sky 7 from about an hour ago and as you could see no trains moving here at hayward station and that is still the same case here. so hayward station is closed. we have a major medical emergency. they are telling us that a person was pulled alive out from underneath a train. it happened around 9:30, 10:00 this morning so they were for a short time single-tracking past hayward station. they are starting to restore normal service on the fremont line but expect delays and the investigation on going so hayward b.a.r.t. station is closed and that will be closed for several hours. taking a quick check of traffic, we have a collision westbound 80 coming into san francisco around 7:00 to bay bridge very slow.
11:03 am
that is blocking one rain of the off-ramp. here is a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. and soggy and slow everywhere. >> and a family lucky no one was hurt. we were stunned. look at this massive mudslide and the dirt and debris pushing into the back of the house. >> the homeowner took us inside to show us the damage up close. laura anthony is live at the scene in orinda. laura? >> reporter: well, hi. let's show you what it looks like from outside first. a look at this mud and debris behind me. this is where the hillside slammed into the back of this house. we're on van tassel lane in orinda. let's show you from sky 7 hd. this is about a 200-yard slide. it started up at the top of the hill and you could probably see there is a head scarf and then the second scar and that is the concern, that this mud and debris is still moving. this house has been yellow tagged. let's show you the inside of the
11:04 am
house. this actually happened early on tuesday morning. it started -- the homeowner told me he was inside of the bathroom inside of the room that we're showing here with all of the mud and debris and when he heard this loud crashing sound, he actually had to crawl out over all of that debris to get out safely. let's hear from him. >> well, yesterday, about 9:30 in the morning and i heard a loud noise and i thought it might be thunder which we don't get around here but it was very loud. i was right up in that bathroom behind the glass blocks and i came out and i said well maybe it is hail and i saw the wall of the office started to come in at me and i ran downstairs. >> reporter: and again, that was -- we showed you the inside of the house. this is what it looks like in the back of the house where you could see this massive slide slammed right into the back of this house. at this point, the house is yellow tagged. which means the homeowner can go
11:05 am
in and out but the concern is that the mud and debris could continue to move. obviously as this next wave of heavy rain moves through. so again, a very scary situation for this homeowner. but things are stable right now. besides this house, another house, the next door neighbor also have some mud and debris in their backyard but the damage nothing like what we're seeing here. live in orinda, laura then, abc 7 news. >> thank you. and in marin county, residents are watching creeks and taking flood precautions and utility crews are busy with down trees and power lines. matt keller is live in san anselmo with the situation there. matt? >> reporter: we're in the downtown area and it has been raining and pouring for the last two hours or so. windy conditions out here. but all of the businesses are really prepared. as you walk down the street, you could see a lot of sandbags, you got the flood gates as well. so far so good here in downtown
11:06 am
san anselmo. the downpour started around 6:30 this morning in san anselmo and haven't stopped. marin county is seeing a lot of rain and wind making it very uncomfortable to be outside. >> part of me loves it and part of me wants to get home real quick. >> reporter: san geronimo was closed due to a tree into a power line. the wind knocked down the road closed signs. san anselmo creek was rushing through the downtown but at normal levels. somewhat of a relief for ross valley firefighters. >> the creeks are doing well and everything is swelling well so, so far so good. >> reporter: a lot of kids had the day off from school after classes were canceled because of today's storm. so that means many parents also had to take the day off. >> what are you going to do? >> a little work, a little clean up. drop the kids off at school. >> and now what is the plan today. >> now i think we're going to
11:07 am
eat some breakfast, maybe go to a movie. >> that sounds like a more fun day than what you have planned. >> i think they think so for sure. >> reporter: we've been keeping an eye on the san anselmo creek and we had someone from the sanitation district tell us in the last hour it has gone up 14 inches. now it is well below flood stage so no big concern right now for this creek. the marin county sheriff said they have doubled the patrols today. they say so far so good. but in the last half hour or so they tweeted out that there was a tree down in mill valley into a home. they went out and checked it out and everybody is okay. live san anselmo, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you, matt. worry for people living along the russian river. it is set to crest tomorrow morning. amy hollyfield is monitoring the situation in guerneville. >> reporter: a lot of rain here in guerneville. it is still raining right now.
11:08 am
it has been all morning. so people are keeping an eye on this river. last time we were here last month with all of the flooding issues, the river level came up to this sign. so nowhere near that right now but still people are nervous because they never nove what this river is going to do. a steady rain fell all morning in guerneville today. last year this probably would have been described as a soaker worthy of concern. but with all of the rain up here this year, some people's perspectives have changed. >> it looks like drizzle, like the rain that was two days ago, that was ridiculous. out of nowhere. and this one is just drizzle. so it is not too much. the river can handle it. >> reporter: the russian river is expected to rise above the flood stage again tomorrow. only minor flooding is expected. but some residents are worried. >> scared. because with all of the loose rocks and mudslides and now with wind and maybe downed trees, you know. so yeah.
11:09 am
i'm worried. >> reporter: she said she and many others have stocked up on bottled water and food in case they get trapped but even if their homes aren't impacted, they are still worried about those who don't have homes. >> big concern for our homeless community, as you probably saw, all lined up, just trying to stay dry and warm. >> reporter: i just checked in with the fire department and the sheriff's office, no calls for weather-related service this is morning. they haven't had to do any rescues or no one in need but they are on high alert and watching this river carefully because they know it still has some rising up to do. live in guerneville. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. and new video from novato shows flooding along highway 37. abc 7 news was along the highwa as the chp diverted cars around a closure this morning. could you see the detour sign there. 37 between highway 101 and atherton is blocked off because it is flooding.
11:10 am
the chp said the closure may last several more days. travelers at sfo could expect delays and cancellations because of low visibility and wind yz conditions. 120 flights have been canceled and more are expected. some are delayed as long as three hours. fur flying, check with your airline for the latest information on your flight. and the situation only made worse by what is happening back east. look at the heavy snow blanketing the northeast today. even a blizzard warning in long island. drivers this morning say there were white-out conditions. travel conditions are expected to be poor throughout the day. there were dozens of spinouts and fender-benders on roadways. if you don't need to be out, they are suggesting you stay home. and a two alarm house fire after we were over the scene on president drive near 174th avenue this morning. this fire burned a three-story home built right into the hillside.
