the health care act stood up in support of the program. abc7 news reporter alyssa herrington is in the newsroom with a look at two local efforts as part of what democrats called a day of action. >> reporter: matt, critics have been very vocal about their dislike for the affordable care act. that it's too expensive. led to rising premiums and deductibles and that it forced some patients to change doctors. without it, millions of americans might not be able to afford coverage. for some that's the difference between life and death. >> the whole bill is about prevention and wellness. it's about a healthy america. >> reporter: house minority leader nancy pelosi addressed a crowd in san francisco to rally support for the affordable care act. patients shared stories like this woman who was able to get treatment for mental health and addiction. >> i was in treatment for a total of 73 days. and i was been sober since january 23rd, 2010. >> reporter: she credits obamacare with saving her life. now she and millions of others

are at risk of losing coverage. >> i mean people are terrified and people are angry. and people are also really confused. >> reporter: congress did present an outline of a repeal and replace plan this week but leader pelosi says it does not match their standards to expand coverage and lower costs. >> they have come up with something that gives a tax break to wealthy people, makes poor and middle income families pay more, reduces the benefit package, and narrows a number of people who can have access to it. so it's going to the wrong direction. >> we are trying to stop this from happening. we don't want to make america sick again. >> reporter: in oakland, congresswoman barbara lee held a protect our care event. she says the most important people in this movement are those who are at risk. >> the voices of people around the country at town meetings are really very profound and very important and very influential.

the woman at the center of the 1973 u.s. supreme court decision that legalized abortion has died. 69-year-old norma mccorvey known by the pseudohim in jane roe died this morning in texas. she revealed her name in the '80s which also said she lied when she said her pregnancy which set roe v wade into motion was rape. >> sad to hear of her passing. from a policy standpoint the republicans have been clear they want to overturn roe v wade. i think we are in a dangerous spot when it comes to a woman's right to choose. the defunding of planned parenthood is very high on their agenda. and we will fight that. overturning roe v wade is high on their agenda and we have to make sure that doesn't happen. >> mccorpsvy later become an anti-abortion activist. another storm is churning

our way. in fact we are in for a one-two punch. drew tuma is rock the tracking the storm. we have had enough. >> live doppler 7 is showing you a quiet picture. t two storms in the next 48 hours. it's this one coming on monday that has the highest concern. let's get you into the storm impact scale on monday. this is going to be a 3. this is going to be a strong system coming on monday. we expect widespread moderate to heavy rain at times, strong winds, especially monday night, and very high flood concerns. everything is already saturated so storm concerns high for urban and creek flooding, trees downs, rock and mudslides, power outages are also possible. we'll go hour by hour and he show you how much rain you can expect where you live in the accuweather forecast. developing news out of santa clara county.

anderson reservoir has overspilled its banks for the first time since 2006. people have been coming out to watch the rushing water in the concrete spillway. federal and state regulators have directed the water district to cap storage in the event of a major flood and an earthquake causing the dam to fail. sources say the odds of that happening are very low. repairs continue on oroville. the reservoir is now at 855 feet with a goal of 850 feet. state water officials said they are confident the reservoir will handle the con upcoming rainstorm. last week damage was discovered at both spillways and people were evacuated for two days. trees are coming down due to

saturated soil. a large oak tree fell this morning causing a water main break that flooded a cemetery in sonoma. the fire and water departments responded. homeowners say the water got close to getting inside their houses but sandbags helped protect them. there is a car under this huge tree that came down today in west oakland that tree was tall enough to span the width of the road. this is outside south prescott park. no reported injuries. stay aware of storm damage and track doppler 7 on the abc7 news app. several agencies are investigating human remains found near point reyes station last night. the marin county sheriff's service is working with the fbi and nark national park service who operates the unincorporated area where the remains were found. >> we don't know if they were here for a long period of time or with all the pulses of rain

and flooding this we have had if they have been moved from another location where they may have been placed. >> no other details have been released. officials say there is no threat to public safety at this point. rescuers today calls off the search for boater missing in richardson bay. abc7 news was off the coast in cause leto as crews took to the air and water yesterday to find the man. gusty winds flipped the boat sending three men into the water. firefighters rescued two other boaters who were clinging to the hull. the warriors klay thompson is the heavy favorite to win the three point contest tonight as the all-star festivities continue in new orleans. larry biel has one on one access with the players and coach. steve curry joins us live from new orleans. with all that's going on we are still talking about durant and westbrook? >> reporter: this is story that won't go away no matter how much we wish it would. we are wondering if maybe durant and westbrook would see each

microsoft cofounder bill gates has issued a strong warn being the dangers of bioterrorism he spoke today at the municipalish security conference and said there was a reasonable probability terrorists could create a synthetic virus that could kill millions of people. >> the next epidemic has a good chance of originating on the computer screen of a terrorist intent on using genetic engineering to create a synthetic version of the small pox virus or a contagious and highly deadly strain of flu. >> gates said the world ignores the link between health security and international security at her peril. mike pence also spoke at the munich security conference during his first overseas trip as vice president. he also met with several

>> can you hear those cries for help? a woman in studio city drive into a sinkhole caused by heavy rains in los angeles county. firefighters were able to pull her to safety. she thanked them with a hug. >> my car kept turning and turning, i was just like i have got to stay calm.

i felt the water coming up. i reached for the door, opened the door and i climbed out. total miracle. thank you, god. >> take a look at this. moments later a minivan partially stuck in the sinkhole fell in right on top of the other car. at least four deaths are being blamed on the storm. the storm is also being size of three football field in the san bernardino mountains. parts of san bernardino county received well over eight inches of rain during the storm. areas of los angeles county have received nearly their entire february rainfall in just one day. >> announcer: now your accuweather forecast. >> we are going to see a wet finish to the weekend before a much stronger storm moves in early monday morning. live doppler 7 right now will show you across the region we are dry. but you notice in the top left corner of your screen some greechbl that is the next storm. that is quickly approaching. east bay hills, mix of sun and clouds out there on this saturday evening.
