7. there's not many of them but we do have a couple weak systems thalg work through the bay area the next several days so we have showers in the forecast. 35 in santa rosa, it's 33 by the delta, throw mid 40s around the bay so certainly chilly again. and in the forecast, not only the cold showers this morning, but the next system that heads our way coming in tomorrow will send a little bit more rain in terms of the amount, so i'll time both of them out for you and talk about the spring-like weather, which is in the seven-day outlook. matt. thanks, lisa. new this morning, this huge eucalyptus tree is blocking a pleasant hill roadway. the tree came crashing down around 12:15 is this morning on pleasant hill road. chp says the stree covering about 40 feet of the street and it's about 30 feet high. no word on any injuries or when the lanes will reopen. a 10-month-old is recovering this morning after the family dog attacked him in concord. the boy's father says the baby is being treated for bites to his head. officers say they had no choice

but to shoot and kill the dog. abc7 news reporter katie utehs has the story. >> reporter: concord police shot and killed a family dog that moments earlier attacked a 10-month-old boy. >> to dog was very aggressive, actually. took an aggressive stance towards our officer and that's why our officer discharged his firearm. >> reporter: an officer ran inside to get the baby. >> when the officer pulled him out, the quite the emotional scene. having to wrap his head. >> reporter: the boy underwent surgery at oakland children's hospital after suffering bites to the head. he's expected to be okay. but his 7-year-old brother is struggling after witnessing the traumatic attack. >> the 7-year-old started screaming, which caught mom's attention. mom came in there, was able to pull the child away, and prevent any further attack. and that probably saved his life. >> reporter: the german shepherd mastiff mix named charlie was 80 pounds. the mother stepped out of the

room for a moment before the attack happened. >> talking to mom, sounds like the dog never had any -- never showed any signs of aggression before in the past and mom actually raised this dog since he was a little pup. >> reporter: neighbors tell abc7 the dog was aggressive, one neighbor saying it attacked her dog a few years ago. contra costa animal services is investigating. abc7 news. we first told you about this story last night with a push slaert from the abc7 news app. download that app for free and enable push alerts to get breaking news updates as it happens. well, abc7 news was at the south bay mobile home park in san jose as more people returned home for the first time following this week's devastating flooding. and as if these people didn't have enough to worry about, now we've learned some of them have become crime victims. abc7 news reporter kateny marzullo has the details. >> reporter: the flood water has receded from the south bay mobile home park. now the focus is getting hot water. >> i had to buy a hot plate from fry's for $20 and you know using

the microwave and heating up water. >> reporter: bonnie is the assistant manager. she and her husband have been without gas for four days and three very cold nights. >> it's been very hard on him without having the heat and stuff. when you're 70-something you need your heat. >> reporter: now they're among the lucky ones, their gas is back on. park utilities is going door to door relighting pilot lights. >> the great thing about it is that people always smile when you knock on the door and say they're going to have hot water. >> reporter: because of the utilities situation, city officials have not completely lifted the evacuation order. but park management is encouraging people to return. >> we've had three break-ins, unfortunately. so we've told them if they can, try to come back home, at least check on your home. >> reporter: in other neighborhoods, people continue to toss out their water logged and contaminated belongings. these are hard times for flood victims. janet childs knows. she had to evacuate her mobile home tuesday and she's an expert in traumatic stress. >> do one task at a time that you can accomplish because that puts you from out of control to

in control. the other thing that really helps is being in community. so don't try to go it alone. >> reporter: these flood ravaged communities have certainly come together. in san jose, katie marzullo, abc7 news. san jose is opening a local assistance center today at the shirakawa community center it's going to be a multiagency one-stop shop for evacuees hoping to get back on their feet. advocates, insurance providers and emergency experts from the state will all be on hand. the center will be open from 9:00 to 4:00 this weekend and 8:00 to 6:00 on weekdays. the city of san jose is trying to figure out how much damage there is in order to get state and federal disaster relief funding. yesterday, city workers had dumpsters set up to help people get rid of furniture, piles of clothes and anything else damaged in this week's flood. >> it's a godsend. they're well organized and it's really a godsend. >> the city says it will have dumpsters in all three of the areas unundated by flood waters.

recovering. >> everybody pulled together, everybody's working extra shifts to make up, and nobody cares. i mean, that's what we do. that's what you do. you help each other out. >> neighbors said they just want to help his family with medical expenses. so far, they've raised about $3,500. the whom who claimed in a blog that san francisco-based uber encourages harassment says she's now the target of a smear campaign. yesterday, susan fowler asked her twitter followers not to give out any personal information about her. former engineer left uber in december claiming her manager made sexual advances that weren't investigated. uber says it's in no way involved in a smear campaign, calling that type of behavior wrong. abc7 news was at the castro theater in san francisco last night for the lesbians who tech event. the original goal was to atralkt more women and lesbians to the tech industry. this year's strategy is to go beyond technology and champion the fight for women's right. up with of last night's speakers was a woman from los angeles who cofounded the black lives matter

. the alameda county sheriff's department has confirmed a body found along alameda creek in fremont is that of jayda jenkins. the 18-year-old from tracy had been missing for more than a month. on january 21, her car went off niles canyon road. the search was hampered by storms. a man found jenkins' body is 11 miles from where her car crashed. >> her family was relieved to know that we found jayda. they now can begin their closure, begin to start healing and begin to try to make sense of this tragedy. >> sergeant kelly said there's nothing to indicate foul play. she's just one day old but a baby girl in the east bay is already taking her parents on a wild ride. elissa harrington tells us, the baby was born in the car outside the hospital. >> reporter: a special and fast delivery for kim and dan stone

of oakland. their baby girl surprised everyone when she decided to make her arrival in the backseat of a car. >> it was sort of a mellow night at home, a slow kind of normal labor, and then within about a half an hour, it just -- it was mayhem. >> reporter: and by the morning, things took off. they got into the car for the short drive to the hospital, but amaro would not wait. >> the head was already crowning when we got to the hospital. >> reporter: the family got as far as that driveway. that's the valet parking dropoff in front of the hospital. a nurse who had just arrived for her shift heard screaming and jumped into action. she called for a code stork, an emergency announcement that lets the hospital know there's a baby being born outside. surveillance video shows the crowd of hospital staff surrounding the car. that nurse has 32 years experience but thursday was the first time she delivered a baby on her own. >> i think i was kind of in denial that it was happening and

then i was just relieved that there were people there and i felt very safe and like everyone had it under control. >> reporter: mom, dad, and baby are all doing well. and although it was chaotic, it's a story they look forward to sharing with their little girl when she's older. elissa harrington, abc7 news. despite heavy use during the commute hours, b.a.r.t.'s overall ridership is down and now the agency says it's facing a 15 to $25 million deficit. after six straight years of growth, b.a.r.t. says it's losing revenue. the agency says the number of people riding b.a.r.t. has slumped. ridership is down 4% during the weekdays and down 9% on the weekends. b.a.r.t. officials say they don't exactly know why. >> it might be because we're doing more track work on the weekend and there's delays. maybe uber and lyft have something to do with it. >> it's already fairly expensive, i think enough people ride it to where they could run it even earlier. so i don't understand. >> b.a.r.t. says it's already putting a hiring freeze in place. now there's talk of raising fares and cutting service.

governor brown says $430 million is needed to fix dams and levees up and down california. in a rare news conference, the governor pointed at the recent issues with the oroville dam as one example. heavy rains caused a hole to form in the main swillway of the dam and the auxiliary spillway began to fail. >> affordable housing, child care, many, many issues, so it's just that in a government as big as this, not everything will be taken care of always and lucky for you because you wouldn't have a thing to do if we didn't have these kind of problems. >> reporter: most of the $430 million will come from a $7.5 billion water bond approved by voters in 2014. well, there's so much snow around lake tahoe, some communities have nowhere to put it. nik nikki posted this picture on instagram. the snow is towering above her. the road supervisor said he's never seen anything like this

before. crews are working 16-hour shift for days on end to clear it from main roads and ship it out of the area. work on the side streets starts next week. looks like skiers and snow boarders will be able to hit the slopes during the summer. squaw valley alpine meadows says its plans to stay open until july 4. more than 47 feet of snow has fall engine that area. kirkwood, northstar and heavenly ski resorts plan to extend their ski seasons thanks to impressive snowfall this winter. with the winter weather advisory starting tomorrow in the sierra nevada, adding maybe a half a foot to some of those resorts. here's live doppler 7. where we have some quick showers moving through and dissipating along the san mateo coast around santa cruz and this is going to be the nature of the day today. there's not many of them, most of them will be offshore, and we'll see a mix of some clouds, some showers, even some sunshine. this is the first system. there's a second one that will be dropping down from the pacific northwest, a little more

moisture associated with it and it visits us late tomorrow into monday and that's the one that will allow for more snow in the mountains so from 10:00 tomorrow through 4:00 on monday, travel difficulties with gusty winds from the west slope right on through the sierra nevada so mt. tam this morning, you can see above the cloud layer, it's pretty nice but chilly. temperatures ranging from freezing in gilroy, 38 in mountain view with 40s, oakland, so in san francisco, looks pretty nice but you know we're not going to rule out the showers today. and right on through sunday into monday. 37 in novato, it is cold up in the north bay, 35 santa rosa, but these numbers are warmer than what we have seen. we had a lot of clear sky earlier in the week, and hopefully you enjoyed that because it's going to be probably until tuesday until we start to feel and look more like march, which arrives on wednesday as we look from our roof camera, partly cloudy skies, a few cold showers this weekend, snow level down to

we're starting this half hour with a look at the weather. here's meteorologist lisa argen. good morning to you. we've had a few showers here and there, dotting the landscape, and they're going to stay with us right on through the weekend. they will be just isolated and as we go in closer along the san mateo coast, you can see between i'll say north of pescadero around half moon bay and santa cruz but a live look outside and we do have this, some sunshine and cold conditions with numbers around freezing and gilroy, 38 mountain view, 41 mnl, and from our sutro tower camera, you can see the sunshine. we won't warm up that much today. 35 santa rosa, 40 in concord, and there's a couple wet weather systems we're going to call them storms, it's going to visit us

next to nothing is all carlos has left, he's starting a new life as age 32. in san jose, wayne freedman, abc7 news. more than $500,000 have been donated to a relief fund for flood victims. san jose sharks have chipped in $20,000. san jose earthquakes will match all donations made through the end of today's match. if you'd like to donate, you can find a link to the fund's web page at abc7news.com. happening today, friends and family of a vallejo teen who went missing nine months ago will walk to call attention to the case. 15-year-old parole disappeared near her home in may of last year. she was last seen on the overpass in vallejo. her suspected kidnapper died in a shootout with police in santa barbara county just one day after she went missing. police are offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide a tip leading to an arrest. today's walk starts at 3:00 on that overpass. the white house is admitting it tried to get the fbi to denounce reports leaking the trump campaign to russian

intelligence. yesterday, the president called out the reports and its sources at the republican convention, cpac. chief white house correspondent jonathan carl has more. >> reporter: president trump basked in the glow of a friendly crowd. >> i love this place. i love you people. >> reporter: then he slammed his own top law enforcement agency for failing to stop what he called illegal leaks. they can't even find the leakers within the fbi itself, the president tweeted. classified information is being given to media that could have a devastating effect on u.s. find now. president is especially outraged at a "new york times" story quoting unnamed u.s. officials alleging repeated contacts between the trump campaign and russian intelligence. over the week, chief of staff reince priebus said the story was nonsense. >> i know what they were told by the fbi because i've talked to the fbi. i know what they're saying.

>> reporter: now the president is furious about new reports priebus pressured the fbi to knock the story down. such pressure could violate long-standing policy prohibiting white house interference in ongoing investigations. >> i'm against the people that make up stories and make up sources. they shouldn't be allowed to use sources unless they use somebody's name. >> reporter: but ironically, the white house itself organized a briefing for reporters on the story and insisted that officials be quoted anonymously. one top white house official at the briefing who insisted his name not be used said there was no pressure on the fbi. in fact, the official said fbi director james comey dismissed "the new york times" report into the russian connection as, quote, total garbage. director comey was at the white house just just last month, praised by the president. >> he's become more famous than me.

>> reporter: but when chief of staff priebus asked comey if the fbi would publicly dispute "the new york times" story, the fbi director said he could not do that. none of this seemed to matter to the crowd at cpac, the largest annual gathering of conservative activists in the country. trump skipped it last year. this year, a triumphant return. how is this cpac different from previous cpacs? >> just the buzz and excitement and we're winning. we're in the white house. i mean, it's just exciting. >> reporter: the core conviction of our movement is that we are a nation that put and will put its own citizens first. >> reporter: jonathan carl, abc news washington. some of the largest news organizations in the country were blocked from attending a news briefing at the white house yesterday. the new york sometimes, the "los

angeles times" and cnn were all excluded. the white house said it wanted to give a smaller briefing because the president was giving a major speech at the time. a new homeland security security report says people seeking asylum from the seven countries listed under president trump's travel ban do not pose a significant terrorism threat. the report was prepared in response to a white house request for intelligence on terrorist threats. the white house dismissed the report as politically motivated and poorly researched. mr. trump is expected to issue a new executive order next week. federal courts blocked his first attempt to temporarily halt immigration and prohibit refugees from entering the u.s. tomorrow's hollywood's biggest night and comedian jimmy kimmel is hosting the oscars for the first time. abc7 news reporter linda lopez talked with him about what to expect tomorrow. >> reporter: is jimmy kimmel nervous about following in the footsteps of some of comedy's greats to host the 89th academy awards? >> starting with like bob hope

oregon state sweeps stanford and the cal women beat oregon. that's a wrap on morning sports. hve a great weekend everybody. i'm larry beil. hi there, everyone. starting out with a few very light scattered showers from the san mateo coast down through big sur, santa cruz, they're very, very light, but we're going to see really these come more to life later on today. we have about three weak weather systems that's going to move -- that will move through the bay area through monday and with that a cold pool of air, the chance of showers, snow levelled down to about 2500 feet here locally and also a winter weather advisory for the west slope and lake thoe in the sierra nevada there right on through monday morning. so, 4 to 6 inches over the passes. this gets going tomorrow morning, so if you have any travel plans, you will need the chains, and back home, mt. diablo, mt. hamilton, even lake down looking at a rain/snow mix

at times. freezing in gilroy. on the peninsula, it is chilly, up 30s, low 40s at the coast and i is 33 degrees around santa cruz right now so very, very cool out there and you'll notice some of the cloud cover has dissipated for now, but it will be back, 37 novato, 38 by the delta, 40 in concord and really not a lot of sun out there to warm us up any time soon. we're going to have to wait until about tuesday, even though this morning's starting out milder due to the cloud cover and from our east bay hills camera, looking back at emeryville. few cold showers this weekend, snow level down to 2500 feet, sunny and milder tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday and beyond. so today, looks like the shower activity coming in around dinnertime but in the meantime, we'll reach these high temperatures, 3:00 or 4:00 into the mid 50s, a few peaks of sun but the showers look like they're going to be confined to saturday night, sunday night into monday morning. so they're all 1 on our storm
