holding a news conference this morning at 11:00 in riverside. we will bring it to you live on our midday news and also stream it on the abc7 news app. make sure to enable push alerts on that app and we will loop you in as the story develops. developing news in pittsburg, police investigating a tragic accident that left a woman dead just after 7:00 last night near willow pass. police say two cars collided. a woman inside a nearby home recognized one of the cars in the accident and then was hit by a third car as she crossed the street. the two drivers who collided are expected to be okay. police say the driver who hit the woman is cooperating with the investigation. jewish centers across the country on high alert following a new wave of bomb threats, more than 20 just yesterday, including three right here in the bay area. san francisco police temporarily shut down very busy market between kearny and grant after someone called and threatened the anti-defamation league. within a half hour, jewish centers in palo alto and san

rafael also received threats. no devices were found in any of those locations. the saint def there have been more than 90 incidents nationwide within the last two months. it's now calling on the trump administration to take action. today marks one week since the devastating flooding slammed san jose, leaving behind $73 million in damage. that's a number that's considered conservative and expected to climb as more investigations are done and damage is uncovered. abc7 news was in the rock springs neighborhood last night where city crews were giving notice that stranded vehicles will be towed. all fees will be weight of the evidence. they need to clear streets so they can keep cleaning up piles of debris. the city council is expected to waive fees for repair. >> our initial estimate is that approximately $56 billion worth of private property damage was done and about $23 million worth

of public sector damage was done. >> the initial estimates will help the city begin the process of applying for state and federal aid. happening today, the santa cruz city council will discuss the ongoing battle between homeland security and its police department. leaders are meeting to discuss current guidelines it faces as a sanctuary city. the council is supposed to meet tonight. the chief says he was duped into targeting undocumented immigrants during a raid on gang members two weeks ago. homeland security says police were told in advance it would detain any foreign nalgsz enkournlted in the raid. in the end, ten suspected gang members were arrested, another 11 were violations. supporters of this bill say its aim is to protect students and children covered by president obama's

program. the bill will face a vote on the senate and assembly floors and will need two-thirds support to pass. oakland fire chief teresa reed is on leave for the second time this year. the department will not say if this is performance related. reed was on leave since late january to help care for a sick relative. she came back last week and then left again friday. in the wake of the deadly ghost ship fire, she has been heavily criticized for her department's lack of inspections. no word on when reed is expected back at work. the fallout from sexual harassment allegations at uber has cost one of its top engineers his job. the man seen here was forced to resign because he did not disclose a sexual harassment investigation involving hichl when he worked at google. he denies the google allegations. his resignation comes a week after a former worker said uber ignored her complaints that a manager had tried pressuring her

into having sex. the search is on for a student who sexual assaulted a santa clara university student. that attack took place sunday morning near campus at lafayette and popular streets. police say the woman was not physically hurt and she did not know her attacker. there isn't a good description of the suspect. a sketch could be released later this week. happening today, a federal judge will hear arguments on whether to stop the final bit of construction on the disputed dakota access pipeline. the oil pipeline has been the scene of huge protests and arrests since last spring. president obama sundayed the work, but president trump ordered construction to resume. two native american tribes say the work will desecrate land and destroy their water supply. the pipeline is intended to carry water from oklahoma to illinois. president trump is getting are ready to address congress and the nation tonight. the president is expected to use the speech to cover everything from border security to infrastructure and obamacae.

apple sauces can bring them back to trader joe's and get a full refund. it is amazing what forgiving late fees can do for a library. nearly 700,000 books were returned during a six-week am messty period. most books very reshelved but abc7 caught a glimpse of the staff. one book was returned 100 years past due. another was 80 years overdue. several more 30 to 40 years late. overall san francisco forgave $300,000 in fines. and here's the best story of the day. serena williams can beat you at tennis, even when she's wearing boots. we know this because sunday night, two men in san francisco's dolores park found out out of nowhere that sometimes serena just walks around and looks at people playing tennis and asks if she can join. williams' fiance took this video
