here's a look at our commute. hi, the only red we're seeing on our traffic flows here this morning is of course out of tracy here, so westbound 205 to 580, and we just got reports of a new collision that's involving a semi and a smaller sedan. sounds really minor, though, it's off on the right-hand shoulder and that's before you get to grand line road so i will keep an eye on that, plus we'll take a look at drive times comi coming up. the ntsb investigating a plane crash with a south bay family on board. it left three people dead and two in critical condition. the plane was on its way to san jose when it crashed into several homes shortly after taking off from riverside. you see this home surveillance video and there, the big explosion. officials say the survivors are two women in their late 30s or early 40s and it's amazing, isn't it, when you see this skroo, that two people were able to get away from this crash. the pilot's neighbor in san jose tells us he and his wife left for anaheim friday to attend

their granddaughter's cheerleading competition happening at disneyland. the neighbor says the pilot is in his 70s and is very experienced. >> it's horrible. you know, especially when you couple together that they were going to a cheer competition and this is supposedly a happy time and then just to have a tragic incident like this. >> just so sad. and officials are expected to give another update at a news conference at 11:00 this morning. of course we'll bring that to you live on our midday news and streemg it for you on our abc7 news app. also looking at a terrible set of circumstances in pittsburg that end a woman who was trying to respond to a car crash. >> so police were telling us she was walking to the scene of an accident when she herself got hit by a car. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield live near willow pass and loftus roads this morning. amy? >> reporter: hi, reggie. yes, she was 77 years old. she came here to this intersection to check on a loved one when she was hit by a car.

relatives had started arrive hearing to this intersection in pittsburg. we are at willow pass road and loftus road when they heard their loved one had been involved in a crash. as the 77-year-old woman was crossing the street to check on her relative, she was hit and killed. police say the driver who hit her cooperated with their esn't look like drugs or y it alcohol was involved. this happened just after 7:00 last night. police then found themselves with two investigations working here, with two crashes back to back. but they have cleared and reopened the intersection. reporting live in pittsburg, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. terrible. thank you, amy. there are investigations this morning across the country after bomb threats forced evacuations at jewish centers and offices. this is video from the evacuations near saelt. three of those bomb threats happened here in the bay area, specifically in san rafael, palo alto, and the san francisco office of the anti-defamation

league. abc7 news reporter katie utehs has the story. >> people are fearful. they're angry. they're upset. >> reporter: people evacuated the anti-defamation league's san francisco office, following a threatening phone call around 4:20. >> they said they had a bomb, they had plant add bomb and they planned to kill us. >> reporter: police shut down market between grand avenue and kernny street. >> that's really scary to hear there was a bomb threat. >> reporter: within a har off, the jewish community center in palo alto got a call too. classes canceled, children evacuated. >> and to have them have to be evacuated because of a threat that they may be blown up is terrorizing and fear inducing. >> reporter: more than 20 jewish facilities across the country received threats, including the community center in san rafael. >> one of 20? that's very saddening to hear that. >> we'd like to see a

action put in place and this demanded leadership and it demands leadership from the top. >> reporter: police evacuated hundreds of people before a bomb sniffing dog gave the all clear. >> we had people evacuated and that were sheltering in >> reporter: the adl reports more than 90 threats or incidents of anti-semitism within the last two months. happening today, the white house is promising an optimistic vision from president trump tonight when he speaks in front of a joint session of congress. >> he is set to call for a budget that includes $54 billion in increases in defense spending and that same amount cut to other federal agencies. those cuts are said to target the environmental protection agency and foreign aid. president trump also expected to talk about repealing and replacing the affordable care act. a growing number of democrats are bringing young undocumented immigrants to see the president's address tonight. a half dozen house and senate democrats are hosting immigrants who came to the u.s. as children. former kentucky governor steve

beshear will be delivering the democratic response. keep it right here on abc7 to watch president trump's first address to congress tonight. new details on the white house's stance against recreational marijuana. attorney general joegs says he believes violence surrounding sales of the drug in the u.s. sessions says he does not think america will be a better place with more people smoking pot. sean spicer said the justice department is going to increase enforcement of federal laws against recreational marijuana. we have some breaking news just coming in from new jersey. >> jessica tracking this at the live desk. >> a huge sinkhole there has opened up. it's causing huge problems in hoboken, new jersey, take a look at this photo we got into our live desk. this is from the new jersey transit department. i also want to show you some stuff from our abc news reporter out there in hoboken. you can see the streets are flooded in this neighborhood. i also want to show you another video that he just sent out of this car being taken out of that

sinkhole. it is causing massive problems right in the heart of rush hour this morning as people start heading into work and so i'll be keeping an eye on this for you as the situation progresses there on the east coast. that video is stunning. new drone video from the state department of our resources shows us the first unobstructed view of the oroville dam's damaged emergency spillway. engineers have shut off the water for seven days so crews can clean out debris. it will also give geologists the chance to check on that erosion problem a. potential spillway failure early this morning force add mass evacuation near the dam. the oroville dam has helped put one question front and center, certainly. how are we going to pay to fix the state's infrastructure problems. governor brown says the state needs $200 billion to fix water and transportation infrastructure. democratic lawmakers are proposing to raise gas taxes. governor brown says funding will need to come out of residents'

private capital but republicans and taxpayer advocates say this is not an excuse to raise taxes. >> the politicians need to suck it up and start prioritizing our tax dollars to pay for things like dam repair and dam construction, water storage, and highways. they need to do that without raising taxes. >> they say existing funds like truck weight fees can be used to offsetosts instead of being used to pay off bonds. and the award for biggest potential culprit behind an oscar, oops, goes to brian. he is the price water house coopers accountant who handed out the wrong envelope sunday night. the academy is now looking into whether a tweet that he posted minutes before may have played a part in the mix-up. he posted a picture of best actress winner emma stone with her oscar statue. meantime, jimmy kimmel is giving his account of the snafu. the host says his initial plan

here's alexis. good morning, mike and so far, so good for the tuesday morning commute. here's a live look outside at golden gate bridge. the zipper trucks have already been through and we did have overnight road work. southbound 101 as you approach golden gate is wrapped up. live doppler 7 totally quiet this morning and even the visibility layer we're not seeing any of that fog that we had yesterday morning. westbound 580, tracy to dublin, minor crash right around grant line road on the shoulder, no injuries. but you are up to 45 minutes as you head from in the central valley. westbound 4, just 14 minutes and southbound 101, san rafael to san francisco, looking okay there too at 18 minutes. we'll talk about some weather-related closures coming up at 5:20. this is one of the most memorable videos from the storms that hit california. now we're hearing from the firefighters who drove to the scene in that truck. look at this. an east bay wildlife center says they're rehabbing and releasing beavers for the first time in 20 years. what is causing this new wildlife movement.

5:14. new this morning, at least one person was seriously burned in a fire. firefighters responded to a call at 9:15 last night to an apartment on san pablo avenue. the battalion chief says the apartment is an assisted living facility for people with special needs. a man suffered second and third degree burns to the upper part of his body. the cause is under

investigation. you might remember this video. we're going to show you again. do you see that? the fire truck just falls right into that washed out freeway in so cal. that happened 11 days ago and for the first time, we're hearing from the firefighters involved in all this. the truck was on interstate 15. the firefighters were all outside the truck, thank goodness, when it went off the edge. now we're learning what they heard and saw just before that happened. >> my first instinct, i thought our back tire blew and we were fish tailing off the road. >> it was just violent scraping, grinding, and then when we hit the other end, it was pretty violent jolt. >> that's when i looked out the window and i saw the rushing water, you know, probably a good 30 feet below us and i think i yelled, you know, there's no road. it's gone. >> that is crazy. the firefighters say the truck was stopped on the freeway when they realized that road was giving away. they all managed to get out of there before it tumbled off the side. >> that video. all right, if you are

transportation projects. the tax passed in 2004, it's a 20-year half krent sales tax increase. the tax will continue to 2024 but officials want to ask voters if they are willing to extend that tax as soon as the november 2018 ballot. tesla ceo elon musk is sweetening the deal for fremont factory workers as he continues to try to persuade them not to unionize. musk told workers that the united autoworkers alliance is with car companies and it's only interested in taking money from workers. he disputed allegations about the company's long hours at the fremont factory and to win over his workers, musk told them that he would throw a party once the model 3 reaches volume production. that would come complete with a tesla electric pod car roller coaster and fro yo. >> what?

electric pod car roller coaster? >> i'm focused on the fro yo. he has a different plan that's out of this world. >> reporter: in this morning's "gma" first look, he's launched rockets, landing the reusable first stage on land, and on an ocean barge, so when asked by two people, can we fly to the moon, elon musk said, yes. despite the fact that last year and the year before, his company spacex spectacularly lost two rockets, would you ride to the moon? >> i think they are entering this with their eyes open, knowing there is some risk here. they're not naive. >> reporter: the plan is two launch people in 18 months on a slingshot journey past the moon and back to earth, the first deep space travel in nearly 50 years. the two citizen astronauts getting the view the apollo astronauts a round trip ticket is more than $200,000.

bay so get ready for a very bright day, even brighter than yesterday and a little bit of a warming trend today that will last the next couple of days. still going to be clear tonight with one last chance of frs and then it's trending wet for saturday, sunday, monday, and tuesday. let's jump into that for a second. we're going to have moderate showers, little breezy, i think damage is going to be minimal. minimal flooding, minimal wind damage at most right now. now the wettest model is starting to show rain come in about 11:00 saturday night. steadier rain. we'll have some isolated showers out ahead of it. the heaviest rain during the morning hours sunday and then it clears up for sunday afternoon but another storm could be on its heels for monday and tuesday so you see by saturday afternoon a couple of hundredths of an inch, by the evening, and then you can see the heavier rain come in. again, this is the wettest model showing 3/4 inch of rain but the grid on this model is so wide as we get past the couple of days you have to widen them so it's not as finely tuned as something that will be two or three days out so we'll keep an eye out. today, tomorrow, thursday and

friday a lot of sunshine and 60s. that's all we need to know right now, mike. thank you. talking a look at traffic this morning, real looking pretty good. i want to head down to highway 17. no issues right now, but we do have some overnight road work, each night this week so northbound 17 actually closed between sugar loaf and glenwood from the hours of 6:00 p.m. until about 5:00 a.m. the following morning so it's all wrapped up for today but during that time, while crews are working on the northbound side, all traffic shifted to the southbound side and that means one lane getting by in each direction so just a few early morning delays. also state route 113 in solano county closed and that is due storm damage and going to last until saturday, march 3. live look outside at the bay bridge commute coming into san francisco, that is looking just fine. we'll see if those metering lights are flipped on come upg next. for the second time this year, lindsey wildlife in the east bay has released rehabilitated beavers back into the wild. >> take a look at this video of

the beaver being released near pittsburg there, just moving out slowly. that's where she was found a week ago in a carport, cold and lethargic, she had to be put on antibiotics and transferred to sonoma county wildlife rescue, which has special pools for healing the animals and she makes it back to the water there. lindsey says both of the beavers they helped probably got swept away in the storms and couldn't find their home streams. next, the seven things you need to know as you start your day. if you struggle with math, we may have found a tutor for you. this high school student accomplished something only 11 students in the world have done. there's a new bill being there's a new bill being considered in

couple issues now as you leave the tracy area so westbound 205 to 580, one crash just before you get to grant line road and the other one just after grant line road. the first crash, i should say, those vehicles are off on the shoulder. the second one, that's not clear yet so we're working on getting in touch with chp. in the meantime, definitely slowing down approaching that. down to 8 miles an hour. update on this, this really is our only slow spot this morning, that's coming up at 5:40. we expect to get more information from authorities this morning about a plane crash involving a south bay family. >> the plane had just taken off from riverside when it crashes into homes. three people are dead. two women survived. abc7 news reporter lonni rivera is live in san jose. >> reporter: natasha, southern california fire officials are now saying two of the survivors are women believed to be in their 30s and 40s. both are in critical condition this morning. that's new information because they first said they thought

they were teenagers. the victims are a pilot and two others who died in that crash. now, here's a look at some home surveillance video which captured the plane going down after taking off from riverside airport. it shows a plume of smoke and then cell phone video captured the fire. investigators say the deceased victims were ejected from the plane into a house. two homes were destroyed in the fiery crash. >> right now, we have helped five families. we don't know how many have been displaced. >> reporter: the ntsb will continue to search that riverside neighborhood, but they believe everyone has been accounted for and no residents were killed. meantime, the pilot and two others were attending a cheerleading competition at disneyland. they were expected to be back yesterday afternoon. now this community is grieving their loss. we're live in san jose, lonni rivera, abc7 news. and we are hearing officials are going to hold a news

conference this morning at 11:00 in riverside. we'll bring that to you live as it happens on our midday news and stream it for you on our news app and abc7news.com and you can download our app and enable push alerts to be looped in as the story develops. developing news in pittsburg now. police investigating a terrible accident that left a woman dead. it happened just after 7:00 last night near willow pass and loftus roads. two cars collided. a women inside a nearby home recognized one of the cars in the accident and then she was hit by a third car as she crossed the street. the two drivers who collided are expected to be okay. the third driver who hit the woman is cooperating with the investigation. jewish centers across the country are on high alert following a new wave of bomb tletsz. there were more than 20 of these just yesterday including three right here in the bay area. you likely heard about the one in san francisco. it forced police to temporarily shut down market. someone called and threatened the anti-defamation league there and within a half hour, jewis

centers in palo alto received threats. no devices were found at any of these locations. the anti-defamation league have been more than 90 saint semitic incidents in the last month. one week since deaf stating flooding slammed san jose leaving behind $73 million in damage and that number is considered conservative and is expected to climb as more investigations are done and damage is uncovered. abc7 news was in the rock springs neighborhood last night where city crews were giving notice that stranded cars will be towed but fees will be waived. city leaders said they need to clear the streets so they can keep cleaning up piles of debris. today, the city council is expected to approve an emergency ordinance waiving city permit and inspection fees fsh clean-up and repair. >> our initial estimate today is that approximately $50 million worth of private property damage was done and about $23 million

of public sector damage was done. >> the initial estimates will help the city begin the process of applying for state and federal aid. police in pleasanton investigating a shooting on westbound 580 around 7:00 last night. officers got a report of a shooting on the interstate between hacienda drive and hop yard road. the victim says it was an incident of road rage and a passenger in a silver toyota coralla fired at him. the city will discuss the ongoing battle between homeland security and its police department. leaders are meeting tonight to discuss current guidelines it faces as a sanctuary city. it also expects to get an update from the police chief when the council meets at 7:00 p.m. the chief says he was duped into targeting undocumented immigrants during a raid on gang members two weeks ago. homeland security says that police knew in advance that it would detain any foreign nationals encountered in the

raid. ten suspected gang members were arrested. another 11 detained for immigration violations. state lawmakers are considering a bill that would limit communication between local law enforcement officers and immigration agents. supporters say its aim is to protect students and children covered by president obama's d.r.e.a.m.ers program. opponents say the measure would prevent i.c.e. agents from going into california jails and prisons and deporting the thousands of undocumented felons inside. the bill will face a vote on the senate and assembly floors and will need two-thirds support to pass. oakland fire chief teresa deloech reed is on leave for the second time this year. the department will not say if this is performance related. reed was on leave since late january to help care for a sick relative. she came back last week and then left again friday. in the wake of the deadly ghost ship fire, she's been heavily criticized for her department's lack of inspections. no word yet on when reed is expected back at work. the fallout from sexual harassment allegations at uber

has cost one of its top engineers his job. sengal is the man seen on the right here. he was forced to resign because he did not disclose a sexual harassment investigation involving him when he worked at google. sengal denies those allegations. his resignation comes a week after a former worker said uber ignored her complants that a manager had pressured her into having sex. the search is on for a man who sexual assaulted a santa clara university student. the attack took place sunday morning near campus at lafayette and poplar streets. police say the woman was not physically hurt and she did not know the attacker. there isn't a good description of the suspect. police are still looking for wbss. happening today, a federal judge will hear arguments on whether to stop the final bit o dakota access pipeline. the oil pipeline has been the scene of huge protests and arrests since last spring. president obama suspended the work but president trump ordered construction to resume.

two native american tribes say the work will desecrate land that they consider sacred and destroy their water supply. the pipeline is intended to carry oil from north dakota to illinois. happening today, president trump will address a join session of congress and the country. white house advisors say the theme of tonight's address will be optimism. the president expected to lay out his vision for the nation, including health care and the military. among people who will will sitting next to first lady melania trump tonight will be three family members of people killed by undocumented workers. president trump is also expected to talk about repealing and replacing the affordable care act. >> the government should not stand in your way in delivering needed reforms and services, and it won't. it's an unbelievably complex subject. nobody knew that health care could be so complicated. >> there are reports there will be multiple protests right outside the capital. and you can watch president trump's first address to congress tonight right here on abc7.

several weeks because clear lake is not getting any lower. not any time soon. the flood warning's been extended to thursday now. we're about a foot above flood stage at lake port. here's a look at the east bay hills camera. let's talk about something a little calmer and quieter and that's today through friday, brighter, dry, and each day's going to get a little bit warmer. chilly tonight. milder mornings are are ahead. in an unsettled pattern, we're looking at a storm or two for saturday, sunday, monday, and tuesday. right now they look like a 1 for saturday and mund. some moderate showers, a little breezy but not damaging breezes and not flooding rains the way it looks right now. saturday at noon, looking pretty quiet, most of the day pretty quiet, there may be a shower here or there, stray, but the steady rain comes in at 11:00 through about 10:00 sunday morning and then it starts to clear out. initial estimates and i think this may be overdone just a little bit because you don't even see the rain shadow in the south bay. in fact, it's showing the south bay is some of the wettest area so i think this is a little
