mcdonald's, speaking of heating things up, is looking to beef up their sales with mobile ordering and curbside pickup. take that! the burger giant says it will offer both, plus mobile payment, at all of its restaurants by the end of the year. mcdonald's will also start expanding its delivery services. you can get mcd's at your home. and the kiosks that are already appearing at their locations will be able to pull up customers' profiles and their favorite meal. it is a big day at the george w. bush's presidential library in dallas, where an exhibit of the former president's art is opening to the public. the exhibit is called "portraits of courage, a commander in chief's tribute to american warriors" featuring 66 full color portraits and the four-panel mural all painted by former president 43. look at that one. all of those in the paintings are members of the military who served the nation since the 9/11 attacks. >> this is a chance to honor and

good morning to you. good morning to you. i'm adrienne bankert in for diane macedo. >> and i'm kendis gibson. here are some of the top headlines this thursday morning. attorney general jeff sessions is under fire this morning after revelations that he met twice with the russian ambassador to the u.s. before the election. sessions says they never discussed the campaign but democrats are demanding his resignation. at least three people are dead, thousands are homeless after more than two dozen tornadoes ripped through eight states. the white house says president trump is monitoring the situation. we'll have more on the devastation ahead. the wife of the orlando nightclub gunman may soon be released from jail as she awaits her own trial. noor salman is charged with helping to plan last june's attack. a judge has ordered that she be set free because she's not considered a flight risk. for now, she remains in custody while prosecutors appeal. >> and seven baltimore police

hearings. >> if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the trump campaign communicated with the russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do? >> senator franken, i'm not aware of any of those activities. i have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and i did not have communications with the russians. and i'm unable to comment on it. >> reporter: this morning the justice department confirmed sessions did indeed have contact with russian officials not once but twice during the campaign, most recently as senator. sessions reportedly met privately with the russian ambassador in his capitol hill office last september. but overnight releasing a statement saying, "i never met with any russian officials to discuss issues of the campaign. i have no idea what this allegation is about. it is false." this, of course, follows other revelations of top trump officials with ties to the russians. national security adviser michael flynn resigning after lying about his communications with the russian ambassador, as

well. and now, top democrats are pouncing, including minority leader nancy pelosi and elijah cummings, calling for sessions to step down. >> i can tell you one thing. i know just based upon all the information that i have read and heard this evening, it sounds like he did not tell the truth. >> reporter: overnight, republican senators grilled, as well, about the russian contacts. >> i don't know. maybe an innocent contact. i don't know if he has to disclose anybody he's ever talked to as special prosecutor. >> i think we have to know more about it before we can make a judgment. >> reporter: this morning, white house officials are calling new reports part of a partisan attack. >> many people are asking for him to recuse himself from the investigation. of course, it's going to be all the talk of washington later on today. >> right. of course, the trump administration saying this is a complete diversion after trump's very successful congressional address. >> yes. and there was this other thing that the trump administration has been dealing with, as we get new details about his revised travel ban, which remains on hold.

>> sources say the new executive order on immigration will not include a blanket ban on iraqi citizens. they tell abc news that defense secretary james mattis and others expressed concerns that keeping iraq on the list could hinder the fight against isis. the rollout of the ban was delayed after the president's speech. sources also saying, once signed, it could take two weeks to go into effect. and former congressman ryan zinke is now secretary of the interior. that puts him in charge of 3,500 million acres. one-fifth of the country. he's pledged to tackle a massive backlog in maintenance at national parks. white house aide kellyanne conway has been cleared in a flap over promoting the fashion line of ivanka trump. in a tv interview, she said americans should go buy ivanka's stuff. now the top white house ethics lawyer found that conway acted inadvertently and without nefarious motive or intent.

justin, good morning. >> kendis, adrienne, thanks and good morning to you. that storm system responsible for all the severe weather and the tornadoes well off the coast at this point, but now we're talking about some gusty winds, and this could cause some travel delays of its own. along with that, we're also going to be talking about some much colder temperatures. and in fact, this is going to be the coldest air mass we have seen in quite some time. continuing into friday along with perhaps some snow showers in spots. kendis, adrienne? justin, now to the firestorm of controversy that is brewing overnight, where we're learning that attorney general jeff sessions met twice last year with russia's ambassador to the u.s., something he denied under oath. one of those meetings was a private conversation in september and the other was in a group setting. during his confirmation hearing, sessions said he did not have communications with the russians. sessions was a top adviser to the trump campaign. as he's now overseeing the fbi's investigation into possible

contacts between russia and trump campaign staffers, some congressional democrats, including nancy pelosi and elijah cummings, are calling for him to step down and resign. and republican senator lindsey graham says there may be a need for a special prosecutor. >> if there is something there, and it goes up the chain of investigation, it is clear to me that jeff sessions, who is my dear friend, cannot make this decision about trump. >> sessions released a statement overnight, saying, "i never met with any russian officials to discuss issues of the campaign. i have no idea what this allegation is about. it is false." the administration says the white house counsel's office has instructed president trump's aides to preserve all russia-related material. and new details this morning about president trump's revised travel ban, which remains on hold. sources say the new executive order on immigration will not include a blanket ban on iraqi citizens.

they tell abc news that defense secretary james mattis and others expressed concerns that keeping iraq on the list could hinder the fight against isis, and they also say the order may take two weeks before going into effect. the rollout was postponed after the president's speech. still not clear when he plans to sign it. all of wall street's major stock averages opened this morning at record-high levels. a powerful rally from investors sent the dow to its first close above the 21,000 mark. the dow climbed 303 points, the best performance so far this year. in fact, you heard president trump speak about how the markets have done better since his election to office. the more moderate tone of president trump's address to congress helped refuel that rally, we're told. overnight, most of the averages across asia posted gains as well. several baltimore officers are under arrest now, accused in a racketeering conspiracy that includes charges of robbery and extortion. federal prosecutors say the officers shook down citizens for

ambassador to the u.s., all of this, of course, prior to the election. >> the justice department says the conversations took place in july and september during the height of russia's alleged hacking campaign aimed at what they call influencing the presidential race, but sessions had flatly denied it during his confirmation hearing. abc's serena marshall has more. serena, good morning. >> kentis, adrienne, that's the big question, that flat denial during his hearing. the justice department is saying there was nothing misleading about jeff sessions' testimony. sessions met with russian ambassador sergei kislyak both privately and in a group setting. that's the same envoy who discussed sanctions with the former national security adviser, michael flynn, but the justice department says the meetings were in his capacity as a member of the senate armed services committee. sessions wa as a top adviser to president trump during the campaign and as attorney general, he's now overseeing the allegations that the trump campaign staffers were in contact with the russians, but this is what sessions had to say

20 of those 26 members of the senate armed forces committee and none of them met with anyone from russia. so then there becomes that question on why did he. >> in his defense, i can see them pointing out that he also met with dozens of ambassadors from different countries. >> he did. >> i saw the list, including hungary, many other countries. so you know, it is part of his role as a senator, as well. >> especially as a senior member of the armed services committee >> of course, definitely part of his role on that committee, but he also at that time was part of the campaign. he was out campaigning with trump. he was part of that entity that is being investigated and that his agency as attorney general would be responsible for conducting any further or bringing any charges that result from that fbi investigation. so the senators are saying, the democratic senators especially, are calling for him to step down, saying he can't oversee this investigation given he had those contacts. and their big thing is he lied under oath about contacts with russia, especially after that whole fallout with former

further northbound, though, there will be some travel delays towards seattle and portland. adrienne, kendis? >> thank you so much, justin. oklahoma's risk of earthquakes is now about the same as the san francisco bay area according to usgs. seismologists say oklahoma's risk is manmade, triggered by fracking. this has been a story for years. the underground injections of huge volumes of wastewater from oil and gas drilling. now, instead, they say san francisco bay area's problem stems from its proximity to the active san andreas fault. california facing a tab of about $50 billion for flood control, and officials are asking for federal assistance. after nearly six years of drought, the state has been swamped by torrential rain and near-record snowfall, much needed, but of course, it's caused widespread flooding. and than severely damaged oroville dam last month caused massive evacuations. the flooding has also decimated roadways, and those damages are estimated at nearly $600 million so far. federal officials say all the rain and snow has virtually
