truck. officers say the driver was taken to the hospital to be checked out for a possible broken nose. the hope now is to have these lanes opened up by about noon. of course, we'll keep you updated. reporting live in palo alto, matt keller, abc7 news. we have also been in contact with officials on this. they say caltrans structural engineers will work on what happens next. basically, they tell us that when they get to the scene, that's where matt is, they're going to be using scissor lifts to look at a closer look at the dang here and look at this video that we have. the engineer will probably knock off some of the loose concrete to check out the extent of the damage, like if any rebar is broken. best case scenario, the overpass is structurally sound. if there's major damage, though, they will need an emergency work order and get someone out there to replace the iron or steel girder holding up the bridge frame work. no word on how long that emergency process could take.
