saying good-bye to a sheriff's deputy accidentally killed by a co-worker. today law enforcement officers from all over the state salute deputy michael foley. thank you for joining us i'm kristen zse. >> and i'm reggie aqui. last week a bus driver at the jail hit and killed foley. this morning friends of the deputy made his four-decade long career honored the father of two. and the procession is weaving through the east bay for the past hour. amy hollyfield is live at concord pavilion where the service is about to get underway. amy. >> reporter: hi. the procession is just now pulling into the parking lot.

let me step out of the way so you could see. such a grave scene right here before us. we could see officers standing at attention and saluting all of the cars escorting mike foley's body here. they are expecting about a thousand people to attend today's ceremony, which is scheduled to get started at 11:00, so it is running behind. maybe more people, they say, it is just hard to know. here is a look inside the pavilion where mike foley will be remembered. he was killed last week when he was hit by an inmate bus at the santa reesa jail on a dark, rainy, foggy morning. and he is survived by adult son and wife. and he has memories of his full and vibrant life. a sergeant explained why they are holding the memorial here in concord. >> he was a concord police officer for 29 years and he worked at this pavilion countless times on special events to protect people here at

the pavilion. so i think it is fitting that we honor him here today, in a place where he worked and that he actually now is the person that is on stage, unfortunately. but we could honor him in this way. so it is fitting that we do it here at the concord pavilion. >> reporter: here is a look at the procession. taking a detour to pass by his high school, concord high school on its way, escorting his body from a funeral home in lafayette to the service here in concord. the sheriff's department spokesperson said officers are looking out for each other during this time of grief. everyone is holding up and supporting the officer that was driving the bus, that hit foley, a colleague and a friend. they do expect him to be at the funeral here today and they say it was a terrible accident and they are going to be there for him to help him as he copes with this tragedy. the foley family did put a statement here in the program for today's service thanking

everyone for their support and their love during this difficult time. reporting live in concord, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. some lanes on 101 in palo alto remain closed after a dump truck hit a freeway overpass at embarcadero road overnight. engineers are assessing the damage right now. matt keller is live at the scene. matt? >> reporter: hi, kristen, it appears that evaluation process is still taking place right now. they are hoping to have this all open by 1:00 this afternoon. but that is only if everything goes well. it is not too often you see cal tran workers taking concrete off of none overpass. this is southbound highway 101 at embarcadero in palo alto. they were taking a closer look at serious damage caused by this -- yes, this. it is exactly what it looks like. a dump struck with the bed still

up hit the overpass just before 11:00 last night. >> there is a 27 foot crack in the overcrossing from the collision. we just want to make sure that it is safe to -- for people to drive on and under. >> the driver went to the hospital with minor injuries. the dump truck was towed along with the bed that was torn off. but a mess and a big job was left behind. two southbound 101 lanes were closed. one lane on top of the overpass on embarcadero was also closed. caltrans sent a structural engineer from sacramento arriving around 10:00 a.m. to give a final look. now that some of the debris has been cleared, thein tegitiest -- the integrity is being evaluated and commuters are slow with what is next still up in the air. i asked why it took so long for the structural engineer from the caltrans headquarters in sacramento to arrive here in palo alto. he arrived here at about 10:00. and the crash took place at about 11:00 last night. a spokesperson told me that they did have resources out here all morning long but he didn't have an answer to my specific

question. reporting live in palo alto, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> matt, thank you. and that situation has traffic slowing southbound 101, let's take a look at drive time traffic right now. you could see the stretch from south of redwood city into the embarcadero road exit of palo alto. that is about a four-mile stretch and it's been that way all morning. the good news is no major impact northbound, no looky-loo stoppage there. new details in the robbery of a young boy at an east bay b.a.r.t. administration and his family is now suing the agency. he was robbed at the el cerrito del norte station and the robber came from behind and put a gun to the boy's back and demanded he walk to an area that doesn't have surveillance cameras. the suspect took the boy -- wallet. the boy's family claims the robber took advantage of gaps in the station's security. the suspect still hasn't been

found. authorities are warning residents about a string of robberies in lafayette and moraga. three houses were hit last week. the thieves got in through an unlocked door or window and in some cases the owners were home at the time. they are recommending people get alarms and security cameras and keep doors and windows locked all of the time and officers are seeing a spike of car break-ins in the area. angry parents are demanding answers from a school board in napa valley. many parents are napa high school students left without answers. they are waiting to a conclusion to an ongoing hazing investigation which players were inappropriately grab teammates in the locker room and left 11 members of the j.v. team disciplined and some suspended from school. many parents say the investigation has gone on too long and has left most of the team and coaches under a cloud of suspicion. >> please give us a definition of what hazing is.

let us know what is an assault and what is not. >> i know for a fact that some of my teammates did not do what they are accused of doing. you are ruining these lives. >> we're talking about the j.v. football team there. school board members offer no details last night. the board president said the incident is still being investigated by police. >> a top administrator at a south bay center for homeless teens faces charges of possessing child pornography. he was arrested at his home yesterday. lang was with the sunnyvale appoint scout troop and the chief financial officer at the bill wilson center which works with runaways and homeless youth. the center said he did not work with children. he has been suspended pending further investigations. police are trying to determine if lang victimized any children. the bay area is home to one of the top five deadliest national parks in the country. according to a study from outdoor magazine, outside 85

people died in the golden gate national recreation area between january of 2006 and last september. the park covers part of san francisco and marin and san mateo county. the study found the top cause of death was drowning followed by car crashes. two people are in custody suspected of shooting at an off duty oakland police officer on interstate 880. it happened on wednesday night near the 16th avenue exit. the officer's car was hit but he was not hurt n. recent months dozens of drivers have reported similar scares. they have acted three new freeway cams to help. and pittsburg police put up cameras to catch crime in progress. >> we had two shootings on the freeway and there was a lack of witnesses and a lack of witnesses that were able to recall accurately what had happened. >> the contra costa d.a. office hopes to address wireless cameras along i-80 and highway 4 and that is where officials say

there is a lot of gang violence. a traffic experiment is coming to haze valley. the northbound lanes of octavia street are about to close. they plan to block off between lind ebb and haze for about a week on march 31st. as reported by hoodline. it is part of a test to see if the area could be closed off permanently. this section near patricia's green already sees a lot of closure because of street festivals and other events. during the closure they plan to hold two public meetings about this. it is a celebration of all things irish today in san francisco. mayor ed lee just finished raising the irish flag at city hall, just like he did last year in this video. the ceremony serves -- services will kick off a week of irish activities in the city by the bay. we'll provide live coverage of the 166 st. patricks day parade starting next saturday at 10:00

take a look at this wild chase in houston, texas. these are helicopter images of police chasing a suspected bank robber there. and it reached upwards of 100 miles per hour and damaged five cars. this all happened about two hours ago. you could see the car exiting the freeway and running into a traffic jam, so what does he do. just pushed that truck. that smoke is likely the rims scraping on the asphalt. the chase ended, the driver got out of the car and a spectator, watch this, tackled him before police get there and arrest him. and also a second robbery suspect chased down in this as well. a romance gone wrong. maybe behind some of the threats at the jewish community centers

nationwide. authorities arrested a man named juan thompson in missouri. a former journalist is accused of making threats against eight jewish community centers across the country and the anti-defamation league headquarters in new york city. according to a complaint, the threats were made to harass a former girlfriend. the caller used the victim's name while making some of the threats. and the fallout continues this morning over attorney general jeff sessions and his contacts with the russian ambassador as the demands for answers is stepping up on capitol hill. and now there is new attention on the fbi and agency sessions oversees. we report from new york. >> reporter: the trump campaign, the alleged russian connection and the man responsible for the federal investigation front and center again. >> we're going to need the fbi to fully cooperate. >> reporter: fbi director james comey still dealing with his scandal over the hillary clinton e-mail investigation. giving details and delivering an october surprise democrats

we'll start off on a serious note. weekend rain is not a lot but it will slow the outlet of water from clear lake so we still have the flood warning at lake port until monday. flood stage is at 9 and currently we're at 9.63 so it is going down slowly. and from emeryville, it is hazy out there. clouds on the increase and highs are decreasing today. chance of weekend rain and thunderstorms and even some snow and first signs of spring warmth, 70s next week. and here is a look at what we're looking at our temperatures for today. 58 in half moon bay and san francisco. and then about 60 to 65 for the rest of us. here is the way it looks. this is from mt. tam, by 4:00 mainly inland and then low to mid-50s and milder than last evening and it will be dry as will most of the overnight hours. but notice the clouds keep us up during the overnight. mid-40s to low 50s. here is a look at cold front.

look at that cold arctic air coming down behind it. so it is a fast-moving system with limited moisture and arctic air behind it and about 475 miles away from us. so our storm impact scale is a one, it is light. light to moderate rain possible tomorrow with showers and even thunderstorms possible sunday and a snow level down to 2500 feet. we could see hail and graupel. tomorrow scattered light showers and best chance of anything up in mendocino and then down in through the north bay and the yellow is pockets of moderate that will develop. and then as we head into the afternoon hours, you could see starting to slide through the rest of our neighborhoods. so there could be light to moderate showers but it is moving so quickly. it is out of here by 11:00. and then i don't think we'll see flooding and probably no wind damage here. so rainfall amounts by saturday evening, about a quarter to half inch. and then about a half inch to possibly three quarters of an inch by the time we get to sunday. now if you are heading to the

sierra, you have to watch out. a lot of heavy snow, down to the lake level, up to a foot and a half on pass levels up to a foot of snow and that is through most of the weekend. so you got to be careful getting up there. it is fine today and tomorrow morning. getting home is going to be gnarly. we have some scattered showers that will linger through at least monday. look at temperatures in the 50s on monday and sunday and then the 70s overspread us wednesday and thursday. >> thank you. >> what? >> it is not a wash-out but definitely wet from time to time. >> look at some selfies and you'll be okay. >> all right. >> the cost of a costco member is what you are going to talk about. >> it is not going up a lot. by about $5 for most of us, if you have a gold star and a business membership and that is june 1st. you are going to see a bigger increase if you have an executive membership. that is going to $120 and currently it is $110. this is as he reported second quarter earning falling short of
