and a senior official told abc news the director of the fbi himself, james comey, asked the justice department to reject the president's twitter statements as false. the former head of intelligence, james clapper, is pushing back as well. >> for the part i oversaw as dni, there was no such wiretap activity mounted against the president-elect at the time or as a candidate or against his campaign. >> reporter: senator collins, a member of the senate intelligence committee, told "face the nation" they would investigate the claims. >> a former spokesperson for -- or a spokesperson for the former president said neither president obama nor any white house official ever ordered surveillance on any u.s. citizen. going on to say, any suggestion that otherwise happened is simply false. reporting live from washington, abc 7 news. >> thank you. this morning, americans are weighing in whether they think a

special prosecutor should investigate the russia/trump connection. >> jessica is at the live desk with that part of the story. >> a new cnn/orc poll this morning. showing 2/3 of all americans say a special prosecutor should investigate contracts between the russians and the trump campaign. it says that 55% of americans are worried about reports that the trump campaign had contact with suspected russian operatives. the poll also looked into trump's approval rating. it found that after all the talk of russia, it had not affected the president. his approval rating went up since the inauguration by one point at 45% this morning. reggie and natasha, back to you. >> thank you. happening today, president trump is expected to unveil a revised travel ban. the new executive order will replace the controversial order the president signed in january. that one was blocked by the federal appeals court here in san francisco.

white house sources tell abc news the new order will limit travel from six majority muslim countries, not the original seven. iraq has been removed at the urging of the pentagon and state department, given iraq's key role in fighting isis. the new order puts a temporary halt on all refugees entering the u.s. not just syrian refugees. it is not clear how long the temporary ban will be in place. a change starts this morning for ferry commuters heading to or from tiburon. >> they were saying it was getting too expensive. golden gate ferry is taking over. amy hollyfield is live for us this morning. >> we are expecting to hear a lot of relief from commuters. the ferry service will continue. it is going to look different. they are used to seeing the blue and gold fleet show up to take them across the bay every day. it is going to be now the golden gate ferry. that will be the new carrier for this route. they are saving the route. blue and gold was looking at

reducing service because it is getting so expensive. golden gate will be taking over. they will keep giving commuters the ride that they are used to, and they're going to be starting at 5:30 this morning. reporting live in tiburon, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. ferry service between mahr island and san francisco starts today. passengers on mare can continue. the first leaves at 5:10 this morning and should arrive at the ferry building by 6:30. pittsburgh police are investigating a shooting that left a man head and another hurt. it happened at 3:00 yesterday on c carpino. a 48-year-old man was dead in the driveway. another man, 43-year-old, was taken to kaiser hospital in antioch and is expected to survive. police haven't released a possible suspect yet. a new poll conducted by the san francisco chamber of commerce shows

approved the use of stun guns. the poll also found 60% have a favorable view of police. opponents say the question was framed to get the chamber the answer it wanted. the chamber supports the use of stun guns. opponents point to studs addy show it doesn't reduce police violence. a massive fire ripped through the motel many were living in. firefighters helped 40 people escape from the travel inn on lincoln road east yet. everyone got out, including a man in a wheelchair. some tenants are claiming their units had no working smoke detector s. >> we were they ever woke up from a smoke detector. we don't have extinguishers. >> there was black smoke everywhere. i was banging on everybody's doors. i don't know if they had gotten out or not. >> again, thank goodness they all got out. the motel owner said the

building had working smoke detectors and was in compliance with the fire code. the cause of the fire is unknown. officials believe it started on the first floor and spread upstairs. we were learning about an electrical fire at the walnut creek bart station. hundreds of passengers were trapped. sky 7 was over the station after it broke out. 300 passengers had only gone about 30 feet before it happened. they ended up stranded there for an hour and a half. fire officials say there was some small explosions and pops. passengers were never in danger though. one woman says there was a strong smell of vomit and no ventilation. >> announcer: now your accuweather forecast with mike nicco. >> ew. >> sorry. >> wow. you just had to tell us. i blame it on you. that's nasty. good morning, everybody. it is definitely colder this morning, up to about five, six degrees colder. dress warmly.

the cold front lived up to its billing. 29 in mt diablo. the rest of us, 40 to 42. 43 in concord. a lot of low to mid 40s. oakla oakland, 47. san francisco, 44. cooler around santa rosa, 39. n napa, 45. temperatures today. mid to upper 50s. 55 to 57 degrees. winter is still here. notice, there are green spots on there. scattered showers are going to continue, especially across the north bay this afternoon and evening. the rest of us, you can see in walnut creek, it is wet as we look south on 680. mass transit on the road and the water, use caution. overnight, looking at temperatures that are going to run a little milder than this morning. a lot of low to mid 40s. possibly upper 40s around oakland. we'll take a look at how much longer the showers are going to

be around the rest of the week. there's still flooding in clear lake. stick around. i had to flip the wipers on high c for my drive this morning. we have a new problem on the bay bridge. a live look at the emeryville camera. we have a crash on the curve toward treasure island. it is reportedly blocking the two middle lanes. chp is on the way to the scene. obviously, we've got the backup growing as you leave the toll plaza and heading toward the incline there into the treasure island tunnel. keeping a close eye on that one. everyone else fairly quiet. we have had a handful of crashes overnight into the early morning. we've got a slow down building westbound 205 to 580 out of the central valley. 25 to 36 miles per hour there. plan on the typical delays. we'll have another look at the bay bridge crash at 4:50. former oakland mayor is turning her talents from politics to pot. the business she and her husband

>> all news. >> all morning. dangerous, high winds are being blamed for the death of a woman at yosemite national park. she died after a tree fell on her tent yesterday morning. the accident happened near half dome village. these photos are from a man staying a few tents over from the 21-year-old victim's tent. two other areas of the park are closed until noon today because of high winds. questions remain this morning about how berkeley police handled protests over the weekend for and against the president. >> somebody smashed her in the back of the head. >> officers arrested ten people and con ffiscated more than a dozen weapons. some complains police were taking a passive approach to the protest. a spokesperson for the department insists making ten arrests is proof of the contrary. charges range from battery to assault with a deadly weapon. the former mayor of stockton is in custody on embezzlement and other charges. silva was returning from a

vacation in colombia when he was taken into custody yesterday. he is accused of embezzlement, misappropriation of funds and grand theft. a search warrant was served at his home and the claeys place hd to work. a couple is trying to open a marijuana dispensary. it is worried that the dispensary would bring crime to the neighborhood. the former mayor has been a long-time advocate of medical marijuana. her husband, who is a doctor, has been prescribing the drug since 1996. firefighters in florida say they've mostly contained a fast-moving brush fire that closed an interstate for several hours yesterday. you see the video from a drone showing the wind whipped, smoke

and flames. it was shout down more than six hours. no homes were threatened. a warning before you go to the airport. pat downs from the tsa are about to become more invasive. the transportation security administration is now using a single approach to screen passengers. until now, they've had five different approaches they could take. this approach is more physical and more intimate. tsa officials have not detailed exactly what that means. they do say having one approach streamlines the screening process. the change is partly a result of a 2015 report that showed weapons and hazardous materials made it past security in 95% of tests. amazon chief jeff bezos is expected to give more details about his plan to take tourists on sub orbital flights. reusable rockets will eventually be used for space travel. it'll be added to the company's existing spacecraft. the first step to carrying humans into space is sub orbital

the arctic right into our neighborhoods. that's why temperatures today, 10 to 15 degrees cooler than average. showers overnight. san jose, 101, 880, sleet yesterday. sleet will be less likely and hail out of this scattered shower event that we have today. it'll start to move to the north during the afternoon hours. storm track is going to stay mainly to the north. we'll have milder temperatures. spring forward this weekend with a chance of showers on sunday. we have scattered showers, hail less likely, breezy on the peaks. 6:00 in the morning, as we head into the evening hours, most of the snow and lower elevation showers are in the north bay. that's where they're going to stay tomorrow. we'll put a 1 on it for you guys. the rest of us will be okay. probably need the sunglasses tomorrow. we'll get warmer through the midweek. a little cooler with the best chance of wet weather sunday. this weekend. >> thank you so much. san francisco, a celebration of asian cuisine and culture

and howard. officers put him in cuffs. this morning, facebook has a new way to help you fight fake news. when you see a story you think is false, you can have it labeled as the seattle tribune posted a story about the president's phone being the source of a leak. it is not true. facebook will use sources like the ap, abc news. there is an issue though. if there is an issue, the story will be marked disputed. one of the most popular fundraising events in the bay area is being called another big success. abc 7 news was in oakland as hundreds scouted out bargains at the white elephant sale. it was filled with racks of donated clothes, jewelry, books, art, music. this is the 58th year, which helps the oakland museum. >> all the money made here goes

to the museum. it helps for them to go back and serve the community. they purchase exhibitions, items needed by the museum. >> last year, this event raised more than $2 million for the oakland museum of california. taking a look at our issue on the bay bridge this morning. here's a live look at the crash. we have a problem on the incline before you get into the treasure island tunnel. you can see the flashing lights. we've got a few details. not many, honestly, to be totally honest. it looks like we've got one, maybe two right lanes getting by. it sounded like a pickup truck lost a tire. another vehicle is facing sideways and blocking there. they are sending a flat bed tow truck to the scene. i'll show you what this looks like on the traffic maps, as well. getting close to the bay bridge toll plaza. 15 miles an hour approaching. in the meantime, reports of a disabled vehicle in the same area, blocking lane four. i'm still trying to figure out exactly where that is. a few things to get around there
