slammed. this is south san francisco. mike, you're saying some of us could get hit again today. >> the chance is diminishing rapidly but it is possible. i think more likely, we're going to be wet or going to get mountain snow. right now, you can see the eastern parts of alameda, up highway 80, 24, 680, all the way over to san francisco is where we're seeing some of the puddles develop. we have a little bit of rain around san mateo and more down in the south bay. look at the snow on either side. if you're traveling through the santa cruz mountains, watch out for snow down to 2,500 feet. the rain on 101 and 880. showers through 7:00. the showers become isolated at noon. low to mid 50s. mainly across the north bay at 4:00. only mid 50s. by 7:00, the showers mainly across the north bay while the rest of us, hopefully, will have a drier commute. we will have a drier commute this afternoon. look at this morning's with alexis. we have a crash north of where you showed the traffic camera, mike. northbound 101 near san totomas.

just getting reports into chp. we don't have too many details. at least a couple lanes blocked, sounds like the middle of the roadway. the backup is forming, too. i'll have an update in less than ten. bay bridge toll plaza, really heavy. this has been the main slow spot. we've got the wind, the rain and we had an earlier crash on the bay bridge that's slowing you down. next traffic update at 6:10. >> alexis, thank you. many of us heard this across the bay area this weekend. >> this is crazy, right? so much hail, rain in some parts, even snow. and it is not over yet. let's get right to abc 7 news reporter kate larson. she is live in moraga. kate? >> natasha and reggie, good morning. it is sprinkles out here in moraga. it was raining until 4:45 a.m. my whole commute from san francisco out here to the east bay was really rainy. driving out there can be tricky as this storm moves around our

area. but, yeah, as you mentioned, a lot of hail this week. take a look, we have a fair amount of video of the ice coming down. this is in south san francisco last night around 10:00. enough hail that you were able to grab a handful off a windshield. in woodside yesterday afternoon, a lot of hail. so much so, it actually covered the ground. almost looked like it was snowing. that was along kings mountain along skyline boulevard. yes, snow in berkeley if you can believe it. at a little bit of a higher elevation, granted. this is tilden park at grizzly peak near the steamed train. there was a lot of snow. of course, it wasn't cold enough to stick on the ground. still, quite a sight, that there was snow right above u.c. berkeley. here in moraga, i've spoken to early birds this morning who said, yeah, they've been dealing with a lot of rain and hail. >> a lot of rain, some hail. didn't see any knsnow but the hl was pretty good. we need the water, so that is

along with updates on weather where you live. when you download the app, make sure you enable the push alerts. happening today, we are expecting a new travel ban executive order from the trump administration. it will replace the controversial order that president trump signed in january. the white house tells abc news iraq will be removed from the list of the original seven, meaning six countries will be on the travel ban. that decision came after urging by the pentagon and the state department. sources also say president trump wanted to continue fighting the original ban but his legal team convinced him to reluctantly move forward with the one expected today. also today, attorney general jeff sessions expected to give an amended testimony about his meetings with the russian ambassador during the presidential election. last week, sessions recused himself from any probe that looks into kmcommunications between president trump's aides and those from russia. the u.s. state department is strongly condemning north korea after they fired several banned

ballistic missiles yesterday. they were launched into the sea of japan. this is the latest in a series of test launches carried out by pyongyang in recent months. it comes as seoul and washington are staging joint military drills in the event of an invasion. north korea's leader is pushing for a nuclear and missile program to deter what he describes as their hostility to the north. the u.s. marine corps is responding this morning to allegations that salacious photos of female service members were being shared on a website. this photo of then lance corporal catherine, whose last name is now campbell, was taken in afghanistan in 2010. she later discovered it on a private facebook page with vulgar comments. some suggesting rape. however, campbell did not report the incident. >> the command that i was in was a great one, ask ind i'm sure i had come to them with this issue, they would have been really receptive to it. but the fact that it didn't even occur to me, it makes you sad to

think that now. >> the site is marines united. a private facebook group and closed website. the marine corps is investigating the allegations of online derogatory comments. adding it will not tolerate online or offline harassment. state and federal officials are visiting the affected flood areas in san jose this week, part of the city's application process to receive emergency funding. abc news was in san jose yesterday as the community was raising money for flood victims. the farmers union downtown is one of 25 restaurants that gave 25% of takings sunday to help in recovery efforts. >> can't say enough, how happy we are to be a part of the disaster relief fund. as i mentioned, it is unprecedented. this sort of a thing. so it is kind of nice, to be able to participate. >> and hundreds of volunteers endured the wet weather to help clean up previously flooded neighborhoods. meantime, the anderson reservoir is below capacity. meaning that no extra water has been released into coyote creek.

san francisco supervisors can use their stipended to pay for parking in front of city hall. supervisors got a $3,000 boost to their nearly payment. they're allowed to use it for parking. before, they had to pay the $250 monthly fee out of their own pockets. historically, the stipend went for stationary, work-related travel and membership fees. first self-driving cars. now, autonomous semis. the test on california roads this week. also, our storms this winter causing trees to fall in the woods. why it could be a good thing. the wet, sometimes tricky commute out this on this monday morning. morning. seven minutes past 6:00

forecast for today. about 55, 54 to 47 degrees. definitely a winter chill. trending milder tomorrow. spring returns wednesday with 60 to 72 degrees. a look at 101 and 880 where it is raining. tree pollen will be high. ash, cedar, juniper and pine. tonight, not as wet or cool. 40 to 47 for the rest of us. alexis keep agoen eing an eye o south bay. we had a crash on the north side of 101 before san tomas there. you can see a little red on our traffic maps. that should clear out now that we have all lanes back open and the backup is not quite down to 101 and 880 there. you can see, we have wet pavement. you want to drive for conditions. also, quite soggy through the maze. this is a look at the westbound traffic heading toward the bay bridge toll plaza. we had a crash reported that sounded minor. maybe partially blocking one of the right lanes. haven't found it on camera. we also have a crash reported on

the eastbound side of 80, just pasttollbooths en th thanks to the rain we' been getting, a dozen trees have fallen in muir woods and six were redwoods. if a tree falls into redwood creek, it helps the salmon spawning there. the salmon are endangered and the shade can be important. park officials are working on a project to put wood from the fallen trees straight into the creek to help the salmon out. this doesn't sound like a natural combination. wine and coffee. however, a napa valley winery is offering a jolt in your morning brew. michael ♪ good is in every blue diamond almond. and once good gets going, there's no stopping it. blue diamond almonds. get your good going.

volvo testing this technology called platooning. trucks communicate with one another to control distance, speed and braking. starting on wednesday, caltrans will test a three-truck platoon in so cal. the trial will focus on how safe the trucks can be with other cars on the road. drivers will sit behind the wheel and steer. those in the second and third trucks will not be stepping on the gas or the brakes. now an abc 7 news exclusive interview with one of the most famous children in the world. michael jackson's son, prince michael, is stepping in the spotlight. it's been nearly eight years since the 20-year-old and his siblings lost their dad. hard to believe he is 20 already. prince is now opening up about his own music venture and the charity work that he does in his father's memory. prince is a student in l.a. where he co-founded the charitable student organization, heal los angeles. >> it is inspired from heal the world. we primarily focus on child abuse, homelessness and hunger in los angeles area.

there aren't but it is wet there right now. we're going to keep an eye on this. notice, the clouds are breaking up a little bit. that's why we're calling these showers. once the sun is up, we'll see a little sunshine. the showers are going to move to the north as we head into the afternoon and evening hours. some spring warmth is possible between another storm that could bring us a chance of wet weather this weekend. here's a look at the storm impact scale. a 1 because the scattered showers are light. likeliness of hail is about over. the breezes won't cause any damage either. as we move from 7:00 to 9:00, the rest of the morning commute, you see scattered, light showers. even by noon, we're starting to see a transition up to the north bay. for the better part of the day up there, sunshine as you head down to the south before the sunsets at 7:00. during the overnight hours, through tomorrow morning, and all day tomorrow, the north bay starts to clear out also as the showers move to clear lake. we'll call tomorrow a 1 because there will be a chance up north.

70s wednesday and thursday. lose an hour of sleep this weekend. we'll culminate that with a chance for showers on sunday. insult to injury there. oh, man. this morning is not easy. i'll show you traffic cameras here. heavy flows there southbound 680 as you get through the walnut creek area. not great conditions. the wipers definitely going to be on. we have a report of a rollover crash vehicle on its side on eastbound 24. that is right around the orinda area. tough conditions. a look at westbound 80 heading toward the maze. we did have a report in the far right lane before you make it into the tollbooth area. i have not been able to find it on camera. obviously, it is heavy through the stretch this morning. we'll take a look at the drive time while we're at it. westbound 80 highway 4 to the maze, down to 46 minutes. maybe improving a little bit. westbound 80 across the bay bridge, 20. southbound 101, san francisco to sfo, driving there, okay, ten minutes. once you make it there, your

6:24 in the morning. live look outside from mt. tam. definitely some clouds. we're seeing light rain near the coast toward san francisco in marin right now and scattered throughout the bay area. new this morning, a new study may be a heads up for anyone who uses social media. researchers at the university of pittsburgh find the more time young adults spend online, the more likely they are to feel isolated. their sense of isolation went up as the time spent using social media increased. one unanswered question is whether social media causes isolation or if people who feel

isolated turn to social media to cope. finally, you may be able to dislike something on facebook. the menlo park based social media giant is reportedly testing a thumbs down emoji. not where you'd expect exactly. according to tech crun, facebook is testing the dislike button on its messenger app only. for now, it is only available to some users. if people like it, facebook may roll it out to all messenger users. time to ask finney. today, carol from daly city has a question about contractors. >> she spoke to us about our ask finney event in daly city. 7 on your side's michael finney has your answer. >> what can you do when you have a problem with contractors? >> carol, you are not alone. this is a very common complaint. here's what i want you to do. contact the contractor state license board. this is an agency that acts as an enforcer of state law. they'll also help broker a deal between you and your contractor. if necessary, they might even interview both of you to figure

amy hollyfield reporting for us. there we go, coming into port here as we speak. pretty cool day for you guys. we'll take a look at the roads. much better commute than hopping in your vehicle and getting on the wet pavement here. we've been congesting through the bay bridge toll plaza all morning because of an early morning crash on the bay bridge. it's been clear over an hour. ripple effect throughout the maze today. we'll talk about a new problem just in for the central valley drive in less than ten. crowds flocked to mt. diablo for fun in the snow. >> it was only a few inches, but certainly enough to attract plenty of visitors. took time to get to the top. you see the long line of cars waiting to get past the pay gate. once they passed it, the summit parking lot was closed because of the slick roads leading up to it. so visitors had to park below and walk a mile and a half to reach the snow. in the end, they say it was well worth it. >> reminds me of snow boarding and sledding. wintertime, though it is almost spring. it is pretty cool. >> we were like, oh, we have to

go see it since the kids have never seen snow. it is much shorter than going all the way to tahoe. >> the snow is keeping park rangers pretty busy. the park opens at 8:00 this morning and closes at sunset. mt. hamilton in santa clara county also got a blast of snow. pretty, right? received two inches of snow yesterday. the observatory's visitor center was closed yesterday. caltrans closed mt. hamilton road at joseph d. grant county park. it is expected to be closed again today. hail is the story for many parts of the bay area. you can see the scene in woodside near king's mountain yesterday. that looks like snow on a back porch of a home near skyline boulevard. the video posted by a viewer. if you take photos or video of the weather, post it with the hashtag abc 7 now so we can find it and share it on tv. you'll be talking about this interview when you get to work. white house spokesperson sarah h huckabee sanders got into a heated debate with "good morning

america"'s george stephanopoulos. she doesn't think president trump supports the fbi's supported denial of alleged wiretapping last year. >> what is the president's evidence? >> it does back up the fact that the administration was wiretapping american citizens. there was wide reporting suggesting his administration, whether it was directly ordered by this president specifically, his administration could have done this. >> sarah, i have got to stop you again because that is simply not true. all the articles you just mentioned, not one of them says that president trump ordered a wiretap. one of them -- >> president obama, actually. >> president obama. one of them based on anonymous sources says there might have been a court-ordered fisa pyre ta -- wiretap. that's been denied by james clapper. >> i love how now anonymous sources don't matter anymore. we've been dealing with anonymous sources and having to fight back against that for the last six months. it is funny how the media now starts to -- >> hold on a second.

>> abc chief legal analyst dan abrams is responding to the allegations. his focus, fbi director james comey. >> it is the same fbi director who is there now, who was there before. the obama administration fbi guy is the trump administration fbi guy right now. and that's the same guy who did the hillary clinton investigation, who many people believe sent out a letter that harmed hillary clinton's campaign. so if that is the obama administration doing that, that seeps perret s -- seems pretty >> i can't wait to see the rest of the interview with george stephanopoulos. coming up, we'll hear the future fbi's thoughts. happening today, president trump expected to unveil a revised travel ban. the new executive order will replace the controversial one he signed in january. that one was blocked by the federal appeals court in san francisco.

the white house tells abc news the new order will limit travel from six majority muslim countries instead of seven. iraq has been removed from the list at the urging of the pentagon and the state department, given iraq's key role in fighting isis. the new order puts a temporary halt on all refugees entering the u.s. not just syrian refugees. it is not clear how long the temporary ban will be in place. happening now, a change starts this morning for ferry commuters heading to or from tiburon. >> blue and gold fleet says it was getting too expensive. golden gate ferry is taking over. amy hollyfield is live for us in tiburon.natasha, the second one the morning is here. they're boarding it right now. this service is not a moneymaker, so it has been a hot potato for more than a year. golden gate ferry has agreed to take it over. the first ride left at 5:30 this morning. blue and gold fleet decided it was too expensive to operate and was threatening to reduce

service. commuters are relieved to still have a ferry. there will be a few changes. the schedule is a bit different. so is the method of payment. >> it is also going to now use clipper cards, which is a first for folks who are traveling between tiburon and san francisco. we'll accept blue and gold fleet tickets for the first few weeks of the transition but we're encouraging the passengers to move over to clipper. >> the golden gate bridge district decided to take the service over because it is in line with their mission, to reduce traffic on the 101 corridor right there on the golden gate bridge. officials say their busses and ferries reduce traffic by 20%. commuters here this morning say they are happy to help cut back on traffic out there on the roads. happy to do their part and take this smooth, beautiful ride across the bay. live in tiburon, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. ferry service between mare island and san francisco starts today. passengers can stay on board and

continue to the city. the first ferry headed into head francisco left at 5:10 and should have arrived at the ferry building. pittsburgh police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead and another injured. yesterday afternoon at 3:00 on c carpino avenue, a 48-year-old man was dead in the driveway of a home. another man, 43-year-old, was taken to kaiser hospital in antioch. he is expected to survive. police have not released details about a possible suspect yet. hayward police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that injured a man. abc 7 news was on mandarin avenue as investigators collected evidence yesterday. the shooting happened overnight saturday. police confronted a man after they say he shot a 17-year-old girl and another man late saturday night. three officers opened fire after they say the man pointed a weapon at them. the suspect survived. he and the man he is accused of shooting are still in the hospital. the teenager is now out of the hospital. a new poll conducted by the

san francisco chamber of commerce shows a large majority of respondents want police to carry stun guns. in fact, 78% of the 500 registered voters questioned approved the use of stun guns. the poll also found 60% have a favorable view of the police. opponents say the question was framed to give the chamber the answer it wanted. the chamber supports the use of stun guns. opponents also point to studies that show the weapons do not reduce police violence. >> announcer: now, a live desk update from abc 7 mornings. >> i want to jump in from the live desk. we got this new information. stockton's former mayor will be in court today to face embezzlement and other charges. we just checked the san joaquin county inmate locater. it shows anthony silva is scheduled to appear in a stockton courtroom at 1:30 this afternoon. silva was arrested by fbi agents at sfo yesterday after returning from vacation in colombia. the charges are connected to search warrants on his home and

at the stockton kids club he used to oversee. silva is being held right now on a $1 million bail. reggie and natasha, back to you. >> thank you. we are learning more about a weekend electrical fire at the walnut creek bart station. saturday's fire brought trains to a stop and trapped hundreds of passengers. sky 7 was over the station shortly after it broke out inside an electrical vault beneath the tracks. roughly 300 passengers had only gone about 30 feet before it happened. they ended up stranded for an hour and a half. fire officials say there were some small explosions and pops, but they say passengers were never in any real danger. one woman tells abc 7 news there was a strong smell of vomit and no ventilation. >> announcer: now, your accuweather forecast with mike nicco. >> good morning. let's start with temperatures and start in the south bay, where los gatos is 38. everybody else, 40 to 43 degrees, like in san jose. not too chilly there. 40 in danville. 41 in lafayette.

alameda, 47. san francisco, 44. novato, 38. 41 right now in redwood city. temperatures going to stay well below average. look at this, about 54 to 57 degrees today. notice the best chance of seeing green, which is a signal of some showers. mainly across the north bay. maybe some of the higher elevations on either side of the santa cruz -- or the santa clara valley. the richmond side of the richmond-san rafael bridge, we had a little shower roll through. wet at times for mass transit on the road or the water. this is mainly a morning event. toward the evening is and overnight hours, you can see that we're going to be 39 in livermore. the rest of us, 37 degrees. i have 70s in the forecast and another chance of rain this weekend. i'll have that in the accuweather seven-day forecast. here's alexis. i want to take you to the central valley. unfortunately, we have a new crash and it is sounding like it could be a serious situation.
