♪ live where you live, this is "abc 7 news." ♪ impeaching president trump? right now there's a packed house in the east bay as one city council meets late into the night to decide whether to call on congress to launch an investigation that could shake up the nation's capitol. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm am ah daetz. richmond became the first city to call for an investigation. >>al immediate ah is having its say. katie utis is live outside. >> reporter: within the last half hour city council picked up the issue with more than 20 people wanting to talk, and supporters realize it is largely a symbolic effort, but it is a message city council's can send. it is a message that appears to be spreading across the country as supporters listed a handful of other cities considering

similar resolutions. >>al immediate ah for impeachment members rallied on the steps of alameda city hall, then waited for hours to tell city council members why they think the president should face impeachment hearings. >> i think he is a threat to our constitution. i think he is a threat to our country. i think he's a threat to the peace of the world. >> reporter: they're also concerned about the president's potential conflict of interests from his business dealings and possible ties to russia. vice mayor malia vella, essentially the city would be sending a message to congressional leaders. tonight's effort follows a similar effort passed in the city of richmond two weeks ago. spoerlters realize it is symbolic but hope to create a movement. >> understandably it is a local measure, but with a republican congress, republican senate, i think we need to get this

movement from the ground up. >> reporter: at least one city council member expressed concern ahead of tonight's meeting, saying that the city does have more pressing issues to focus on like affordable housing. now, during the time that we were inside we did not hear from any folks who are opposed to the resolution. they may be speaking right now however. we just heard from people in support of it. please stay with abc 7. as we hear the final vote we will update you. live in alameda. katie utes, "abc 7 news." >> right now, from critics of president trump to his supporters. to night an east bay couple want to know why no one has been charged after protesters for and against the president clash at a berkley park over the weekend. >> yeah, the couple was beaten. "abc 7 news" reporter lisa joins us live from the newsroom. >> reporter: police say it is an open investigation and no new arrests have been mailed, which is frustrating for those injured on saturday.

>> i got punch in the neck. i got punch in the side of the help. >> reporter: this 63-year-old retired engineer and his wife thought they were sim plip attending a rally to support the president on saturday. >> somebody smashed her in the back of the held. >> reporter: but this is what unfolded at civic center park. berkley police had to rescue mike cox and his wife, seen here in red after they were knocked to the ground and kicked over and over again. >> i didn't realize it was as violent as it was until i looked at the videos. >> reporter: the couple still has a hard time watching what happened that day when age, race, gender and political views collided. >> she's been traumatized, and that's what i was more concerned about. >> reporter: but what is even more troubling for this richmond couple is that no one has been arrested for their beating. >> and this is one of the guys that was involved. >> reporter: mike handed over a photo of one of the people he thinks attacked him, and police insist the investigation is far from over.

the district attorney didn't charge anyone today, saying, quote, we need to have all of the evidence from bpd, and once we do we will review everything before making a charging decision. >> i don't think they have -- they have no inkling to even pursue it at this point. >> reporter: regardless, these two still plan to attend trump rallies whenever possible. lisa amingalesion, "abc 7 news." >> here in the bay area there are about a half dozen rallies. organizers hope to continue the momentum gained by the women's march in january that gained momentum nationwide. >> show up and reinforce the energy we found as we continue to move forward. >> tomorrow there will be rallies in san francisco, san jose, oak land, palo alto, pacifica, union city and on cal's campus. there will be substitute

immediately called the police. they say when they responded the driver took off, ditched the car on dwight way and ran off. police sur spended the search after three hours. this started after 1:00 this morning. police say the suspect drove straight for an officer with his headlights off. officers fired at the car. it is not clear if the suspect was hit by shots. >> tonight we have learned a sixth arrest has been made in the death of a san jose bar security manager and little league coast. 35-year-old frank navarro was stabbed on february 26th out site tres gringos club. he worked as a security manager there. witnesses say there was an altercation after a bouncer didn't let one man in. tonight it was confirmed that 27-year-old andrew servacervant. the six people were arrested last week. >> an expulsion hearing began for the nap autopsy high school student accused of hazing.

he was the focus of an i-team exclusive last night. he was number 11 in uniform, one of 11 football players officials accuse of hazing. he has been suspended for the last two months. he says he is wrongfully accused. a panel is hearing the case. today the district's attorney present their evidence. the hearing continues monday when torres will testify. the state department of water resources released this new video of the oroville damage. it's damaged infrastructure like this that led governor brown to declare a state of emergency this afternoon. the governor is asking president trump to make a major disaster declaration for parts of california like oroville that suffered major storm damage. >> rain brought land slides, closing and mud flows in the santa cruz mountains. now this. the rush to save the horse stuck in the mud. >> check this out. a hi speed pursuit and a pit maneuver, but it didn't end there. the dramatic outcome in one california city. >> and lady liberty goes dark.

the national park service said it wasn't a protest. instead, it was because of work on an emergency backup generator. >> a recent rain saturated the santa cruz mountains as you know. land slides have been common and people needed help. >> but it wasn't a person that needed rescuing today. katie marzullo has the news. >> reporter: a horse laid out on her side, stuck in what can best be described as quick sanld. >> she is lying in water. they were holding her head up with the briedle i guess. the horse is exhausted from battling for about an hour, hour and 20 pints to get out. >> reporter: chief got the call around 2:30 in the afternoon. he knew he was looking at dangerous situation. >> you don't know what anigbogu malis thinking when you are trying to help them. you're looking for a way out and you could get a hoof in the stomach or take a blow to the face. >> reporter: he quickly came up with a plan. >> we noticed the water was

draining toward the horse from the creek. we diverted the water flow from draining to the horse, away from the horse. >> reporter: when the water reseeded the soil firmed up and the six-year-old horse was able to get footing and stand. the horse and rider were able to walk out on their own, with strict instructions from the ba talan chief to get home and warm. he feared hypothermia, but other than that the horse appeared unharmed. >> nonet, the horse's name, put a smile on my face. >> reporter: be careful on saturated trails. katie marzullo "abc 7 news." >> check out this foet ee tweeted which cal fire. it shows the aftermath of a crash in san carlo. first responders didn't say how the struck ended up on top of the classic cadillac convertible. good news no one was hurt. >> the suspect was trying to outrun deputies in lancaster, driving as much as 75 miles an

hour. officers tried to slow him down. what this, with spike strips now. deputies eventually hit the suspect's suv causing him to spin out. he then tried to run, several deputies chasing him and tack manying him. he was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon, now under arrest. today president trump gave his support to the republican plan to replace obamacare, but not all republicans are on board with this. some republicans have called it obamacare lite. they want to repeal the entire affordable care act, not replace it. republicans and conservatives don't like that it offers tax credits and maintains some obamacare mandates. they claim it fails to embrace the free market. >> the bill as it stands really is dead on arrival. i don't think it is ever going to arrive in the senate. i think it is dead on arrival in the house. >> a new s&p global ratings estimate suggests six to ten million people will lose their insurance under the proposed law.

>> the ceo of uber will soon have help running the rideshare company. he announced today that uber is actively looking for a chief operating officer. sources say the board would prefer to hire a woman. this comes amid several recent scandals including a former employee making public allegations of sexism and harassment. on to the weather and it is looking nice. >> meteorologist is here with changes. >> yeah, we will be seeing warmer changes ahead to time to get out the short sleeves and the shorts the next coupleful days. take a look at the temperature trend. liver more going from the 60s of today to the 70s of the next couple of days. you will go well above the average high of 64 degrees, a good almost 10 degrees by thursday there. you do see a dip as we head into the weekend but the numbers will recover again. here is a look at what you're going to have to deal with though. with the warmth comes high tree pollen so the air quality will

so there's no signs of rain. the only thing you can count on is milder air moving in from the south as we start to see a shift in our weather pattern. highs for your wednesday will look like this starting in south bay. 70 in san jose. santa clara, looking at mostly upper 60s to low 70. downtown san francisco, sunshine, 63. you will need the sunshine and shades. look alt the temperatures, in the low 70s, well above normal, napa, santa rosa, into the east bay. 67 oak land. head inland, 70 in con korld, liver more. spring like in the bay area. for your thursday you will notice signs of spring in the air. it will phi good friday, above average, but you know the temperatures willing dip heading into saturday. the seven day forecast, it will be a warming trend that started
