that historic flooding. the time of reckoning is hours away for employees of san jose amid questions about how they handled the flooding in three neighborhoods. good evening, i'm dan ashley. >> i'm kristen sze. a public hearing will public the city's response and lack of warning under a magnifying glass. we're learning when the order was issued. david louie has details. >> reporter: it's incompeteevit that victims will complain. it was first responders who took the lead to get them out safely. it took the city hours to finally issue an evacuation order but by that time, flood victims already were in shelters and their cars already submerged in floodwater. >> shouldn't be on the first responders to bear the burden of evacuating somebody when they could be evacuating themselves. >> that's what happened.

firefighters seeing residents wading in contaminated water asked people to leave and help to rescue them by boat. as fast as the water was rising an evacuation order came hours later at 1:44 p.m. more than four hours after rock springs was flooded. the time verified by office of emergency services which sends out alerts to san jose and other services. which takes action by training and instinct. >> it was unsafe for everyone to be in that environment. >> was an evacuation order issued at that point. >> we weren't told to issue a mandatory evacuation. >> as firefighters if you find an environment not fit for habitation, we we're told to do that. >> it's expect today draw large numbers of victims. better communications among agencies, the staffing and

operations of the city of office of emergency services, maintenance of creeks and input into releases of anderson dam. >> it's important to get the information out to the public, let the council and the agencies work together and fix this as quickly as we can. we have two more months of rain left in the season and we're running out of time. >> liccardo doesn't want to point fingers. >> the driver of an suv is in the hospital right now following a terrible crash on the richmond san rafael bridge. abc 7 news viewer sent this photo of the suv that flipped over and ran into two other cars westbound this afternoon. terrible crash as i said. the driver has suffered moderate injuries. sky 7 flew over the scene after crews put the suv on to a tow truck. all lanes reopened about 30 minutes ago. people living in marin county have to wait a while before a mudslide is cleared from a major thoroughfare.

it happened -- abc 7 news reporter wayne friedman is in marin with the story. wayne? >> reporter: good evening, dan. i'll tell you how big that mudslide is. see that rail. it didn't move that far out in the road. but the mud pushed it about four feet in the road. we're told by public works here in marin county that this is going to remain closed probably until at least tomorrow. we have to wait for pg ande to turn off a power line up above. they have said they're not going to do that until midnight. work continues here. it will go on tonight and tomorrow morning and hopefully they'll get this problem resolved soon. sometimes gravity works for you and sometimes against you. seeping water and gravity brought down this section of white hill on to sir francis boulevard.

now it's tree and brush clearance. crews hope to pull that perilously hanging soil down before reopening the road and eventually building a retaining wall. >> i think this is the fourth time we've been working on this one. >> and the fourth time this main artery between west marin and the rest of civilization has closed this winter forcing a long detour for anyone traveling toward the koegs. delivery man bringing supplies to the wood acre country market and deli. >> add about another hour, hour and a half at least. >> inside, because of the slide, store owner has been dealing with captive customers and an uptick in customers. >> i don't know the percentage but we're not complaining. >> the san geronimo golf course, it was wide open on this sunny day. at last counts only eight players showed up. he took app alternate route. >> each our high school match was canceled today. >> even on a sunny day between

storms. as winter woes from gravity continue. in west marin, wayne friedman, abc 7 news. san francisco city attorney dennis herrera today asked a federal judge to halt enforcement of president trump's order on sanctuary cities. herrera says the executive order the president signed in january violates the constitution by ignoring the separation of powers. the action threatens to withhold federal funds to jurisdictions that try to shield undocumented immigrants accused of a crime from deportation. the city of hawaii is asking to ban -- he signed a new order on monday. it bans travelers from six majority muslim countries from entering the u.s. for 90 days. the new order excludes iraq. president trump discussed immigration policy today with lore even powell jobs. the widow of steve jobs. it comes after the president

issued a second executive order temporarily barring from six predominantly muslim countries. so far no details of a -- jobs is a critic of the ban and she points to the fact that her husband's biological father emigrated from syria. immigration concerns part of the march to mark a day without a woman. in san francisco hundreds of women walked to the immigration office about a half mile away. the demonstrators then held a rally in front of the i.c.e. building. the immigration building. they called for an end to deportations which they say break up families. >> women are often separated from their families amid deportations or kids separated from them. it harms their families. >> many women took the day off from work to participate in the march. the demonstration lasted nearly four hours and it was peaceful all day long.

other events marked national women's day. sky 7 is over a rally happening in oakland right now. take a look. people are asked to support women and minority-owned businesses today. now in san francisco, people stuck to that promise. abc 7 news reporter lyanne melendez is live with that part of the story. a small rally just ended there, right? >> reporter: that's right. there were several of these rallies across the city today. some small like the one that just ended. of course, a much larger one outside of san francisco city hall. there was a call to action and of course, praise for women. many more pink hats, the kind used to show solidarity with the january woman's march. part of the mandate was to envision a day without woman. >> a day without woman would be an unproductive and unsatisfying day. >> did you buy that? >> this lady made it for me. >> the dominant color today was red. elizabeth helped organize the

rally outside san francisco's city hall. >> this is how we make changes. we organize them. if we don't show up, we can't make change. >> women were asked to stay home and highlight their role in the workplace. >> they encourage us to be here today at google and youtube and be a part of this protest and show up and be present. >> another suggestion was to shop only at minority owned businesses. >> if you're going to go out and spend money on women's businesses, that's what i'm going to do. >> we found a good number of supporters at nearby taco calla. the chef and owner -- >> it only shows that we still need it. we still need to bring attention to these inequality issues unfortunately. >> nancy has attended many mrs. >> you know what i find encouraging is the number of young men and women coming out. that's why i say it's incumbent on people like me with the silver hair to get them involved and get them organized. >> she and others have begun to

mentor some of the newcomers willing to take the lead. in san francisco, lyanne melendez, abc 7 news. san francisco shoeshine business is back open nearly eight months after a taxi crashed into the stand and two women who work there. here we go. this is what happened last august at market streets and sutter after a taxi jumped the curb. the two shoeshiners and the cab driver were hurt thanks to local architecture firm. the stand was rebuilt. abc 7 news was there for its grand opening. >> they think it's one of the best shoeshine stands on market street. we're hoping it leads to increased business for them and just restoration of their lively lood. >> volunteers helped to assemble the stand. the materials were purchased with a crowd funding program set up to help the victims. that's nice. six suspects but one killer. the stabbing death of a beloved

more suspects appeared in court for a little league coach. six people have been arrested for the death of frank navarro. reporter vic lee with new details from a court complaint just unsealed. >> a rained today. santos trevino both charged with the murder of frank navarro. the two men who was arraigned yesterday were arrested late last week. andrew servants turned himself

in today. she spoke for the family and friends today. >> justice needs to be served in this case. this was a senseless tragedy. >> case documents say there's family ties. they say santos trevino stabbed the coach. navarro was security manager at the -- in downtown san jose. he was stabbed to death in the early morning hours of february 26th during an altercation shortly after one of his guards coat he is kwi develop using his driver's license. the reason because people with facial tattoos aren't allowed in the club. >> because he has a tattoo on his wie covered up with makeup and asked his brother for his i.d. to get in. >> security realized it was not

his i.d. and confiscated it. >> actually both of them threatened the security guard that they would be sorry if they didn't return the i.d. >> the d.a.'s complaint says the two began making phone calls. minutes later a car pulled up. the documents say the other four suspects got up and attacked the guards. the complaint says navarro suffered fatal stab wounds when he wept to help his guards. security cameras captured trevino with a knife but not the actual stabbing. vic lee, abc 7 news. a berkeley private school student who stabbed and administrator last month did so because he was upset over a lost job. angel wajaurez was in a meetingo talk about how he had lost his job due to absences. berkeley cites that he said he was going to kill them all.

then he grabbed a knife and stabbed a female staffer four times. he's charged with attempted murder and could be sent to pris prison. fremont police are looking for -- police say he robbed liquor stores and 7-elevens in fremont and other cities between october and november of last year. he would often wear a construction vest as you see in this photo. if you recognize this man, you're asked to please call the fremont police. tonight, california's newest senator may have higher aspirations. camilla harris is among the planned speakers in may. politico reports this is the first real cattle call of democrats thinking about a presidential run. she'll be joined by other possible hopefuls, including elizabeth warren, cory booker and los angeles mayor eric garcetti. all are encouraged to come up

with substantive proposals, not just political attacks. if you work around the house, using an electric table saw can be risky enough. >> craftsman is recalling table saws. michael finney is here with that. >> that would be a concern, wouldn't it? amazing. if you have a craftsman table saw. you should check this out. they're recalling 46,000 of them. the table might sudden i collapse. it's happened 11 times resulting in nine injuries. they include cut fingers, broken bones, a shoulder strain. they were sold between april 2014 and october of last year. stop using them and contact the manufacturer for a replacement. to make that easier, i posted all the information you need, including exact model numbers on my facebook page. the federal trade commission ordered a national debt service company to pay a fine and stop

deceiving customers. united debt counselors exaggerated the a of money customers could save using its services. it also says the company illegally collected fees up front. you're noft allowed to do that. the company sent direct mail ads to 100,000 potential clients every single week. the ftc say the ads looked like official documents from a bank or attorney. neither the company or -- returned our calls for comment. soon walmart will let you shop in store and online at the exact same time. retail giant is putting them in the toy aisles of some stores. if an item is out of stock, a customer can order it on the screen and have it delivered to their home. walmart is notorious for empty shelves and says this gives shoppers an endless aisle. walmart is only testing the system. no word on when it might roll out near you.

and deputies ushered the bird to safety. >> when the chicken crossed the bridge and got stuck on the bridge, what we did was took the chicken to the garden. the kids were excited about the chicken being in the garden and it was about teaching them about the cycle of life. >> i thought there was a joke coming the chicken crossing the road. but that's useful information. tonight the bird has an honorary seat on the beautification council. if you suffer from allergies, word of warning. our wet weather combined with clear skies sent plants into overdrive. it's going to get more intense. the hot, dry conditions headed our wave are going to send pollen counts soaring. be warned. some of us are already feeling the tree pollen out there. it is really a tough day for some of you. look at how beautiful it was today. santa cruz, san rafael.

golden gate bridge. mild pattern into next week. there's no rain in sight in the next seven days. one model is hipting at the possibility of a few showers in the north bay at the end of the accuweather search-day. tomorrow morning, the fog, visibility will be low in parts of the delta. mid-40s to the low 50s to start off your morning. you'll see mild air as we are going to notice that there is no rain in the bay area. warm, south winds will mean the temperatures in the bay and inland in the 60s and 70s. pretty widespread. each along the coast. but the coastal highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. if you're headed to the beach, 58 at bodega bay. look at santa cruz. you're going to enjoy 73-degree weather. low clouds linger well into the afternoon. it's not a clear day but a nice one. tomorrow afternoon, the south bay, low to mid-70s. 73 san jose. a mild one on the peninsula.
