avenue. we are on the phone with new information. lee ann? >> reporter: we are on southbound low avenue where we are inching slowly. it is not as bad as that section of i-80 where cars are just stopped, unable to move. this is what we know. two people have been injured, a man and a woman. the man, according to a chp spokesperson was shot several times. he is in critical condition. we are going to show you a picture of the chopper, an emergency ambulance, if you will, landing on the freeway that was used to transport him to the hospital. he, we are told, is in critical condition. now, the woman was shot in the hand. she has minor injuries and taken to the hospital. now, you can see there are two cars in that video. a red suv and the silver minivan

on the freeway. we don't know who those cars belong to. if the man and the woman were together, we don't know. or if one of the cars belong to the man and the other to the woman. we just don't know. chp officers are all over those two vehicles and clearly, they have some of the windows blown out. now, shortly after that, police officers, we are told, surrounded a house in richmond, specifically in the iron triangle area, again, in richmond where law enforcement have told us, these are sources, they say they have three people in custody. now, as you can imagine and can see there, the traffic is very, very bad on i-80 and will remain that way for some time because this is considered an active investigation. live on the phone from san pablo

avenue in richmond. abc 7 news. >> lee ann, thanks very much. >> we are looking at the live traffic with sky 7 panning across the car that is are not moving. we can see all four lanes, all lanes are currently blocked. at cutting boulevard, eastbound 80, all lanes are blocked. the cars are not able to go anywhere fast. >> here is a look from the emeryville camera. a major back up on i-80 because of this. it's a real mess on this thursday night. a live look from the computer to give you an idea where it is backed up. you can see the red where it is moving along on that area of i-80 and 123, state highway 123, at 2 miles an hour. the purple area, that section of roadway on 80, closed at the moment. in the meantime, chp is investigating ten other freeway shootings throughout the east bay this year. the latest targeted, an off-duty

jcc attending the day school were evacuated along with anyone else. this large building, beyond the trees is the jcc. the children were moved next door to legacy community church. they were safe and okay, picked up by parents or guardians there. the staff at jcc, people exercising inside were left here to wait around, their cars trapped insides. i spoke with the police department moments ago. they let us know that nothing suspicious, no device, no package was found inside. listen to what they had to say. the dogs and handlers said the surrounding area was cleared. it is deemed safe at this time. >> reporter: the jcc tells us the bomb threat was called in a little bit before noon. at that time, the building was evacuated and the road out here, this is oca road, it was closed. the sheriff's department bombed detection dogs.

they did the sweep of the building. it took hours. meantime, i talked with a woman who lived next door. he was worried about living next door to jcc after hearing in the news the bomb threats called in to community centers across the nation, then it did happen to the one next door. she was on her way to pick up her kids and take them to her mom's house. she didn't want to come back to this area. during the evacuation, everyone was safe and accounted for and allowed back into the jcc around 4:00 this afternoon. currently, we understand operations are back to normal inside. i asked the police about the investigation, what they know as far as where the phone call originated? do they know where it came from. they can't answer that question right now. that is part of the ongoing investigation. katie marzullo, abc 7 news. >> thank you. this is one of more than 100

threats reported against jewish centers since january. several centers have been targeted. authorities arrested a man that made at least eight of the arrests. >> they don't believe he is responsible for all of them. they asked the trump administration to do more in response to the threats. a search is under way for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman. here is a sketch of the suspect. the man approached the victim at a bus stop last wednesday night and sexually assaulted her. she was able to fight him off and he ran away. anyone with information, call the sheriff's office. take a good look at that picture. one person in the hospital following a one-car crash. from sky 7, you can see where the car ran off the connector ramp to 280 and slid into a light pole knocking it over. we don't know how badly that

driver was hurt. highway patrol officers closed one lane to allow emergency crew access and be sure the pole doesn't fall on anyone on the freeway. what a difference since february 21st. what was once power unleashed is today a calm water way. a family of ducks cruising along without a care in the world. those are the ducks but people care an awful lot about how that flooding emergency was handled by san jose emergency officials. today, they are getting a chance to vent about it. david is live in san jose with what those folks are saying right now and david, an awful lot. >> reporter: indeed a lot, dan. here in city hall, a special hearing under way for two hours and expected to run at least untim 9:00. they have a preliminary report in what they can do better next time there's a flood.

residents got hurt badly. they were here to share their frustration. close to 150 people packed inside the council chambers right now. some brought their children with them. they listened to a long set of presentations over shortcomings and the plans to make changes they failed to advance warnings to residents until it was too late. they spread alerts initially in spanish or vietnamese. the rock springs area has a limited number of nonenglish speaking residents. >> i have a lot of personal things, too many to list right now, that were gone because of the flood and i'm low income and i haven't really actually received any type of help,

whatsoever. >> reporter: a preliminary damagest pate of $73 million. some have gotten checks from a public donation fund. 200 people are still living in city-run shelters. moving forward, a lot of discussion as to who is in charge of flood control in san jose. the city attorney says the city is not responsible and is pointing the finger at the water district. the water district says they do not have enough funds to do the swop of the work. we are live in san jose, david louie, abc 7 numbers. >> thank you. the city of oakland may be running out of time to keep the raiders in time. bank of america will help finance the stadium in las vegas. today, officials there met to hammer out a 30-year lease agreement with the team. laura anthony is live at city hall. officials are not thrilled with

dramatic video out of new jersey where a man rushes to push an elderly, sabled woman out of the way of a train. a man watching the bars coming down, knew she would not make it. he jumped out of the car, rushed to help. the woman did not speak english and thought he was trying to harm her. a second man rushed to help. you can see how close they were when the train barrelled through there. the police chief is calling this thing a miracle. >> wow, it is. way to jump into action.

became a firefighter 12 years ago. friend who is attended the prayer service remembered him as someone who helped out the immigrant community. >> a good muslim. i know he has a lot of family. and he always go to different mosques and try to help the people in the mosque. >> the fire department started a gofundme page to raise money for his family. he leaves behind a wife and two young children. 63% of firefighters will battle cancer sometime in their life. millions of people suffer from hearing loss, yet relatively few seek treatment for it. >> there are hearing aids you can get over the counter. we teamed up with consumer reports to tell us more. >> prescription hearing aids can cost thousands upon thousands of dollars and rarely covered by

and this did a little better but it's complicated. when testing in a lab by a professional hearing aid researcher, they showed promise for people with mild to moderate hearing loss and protecting against over amplification of lound sounds. they said they were comfortable and easy to use. in real-life situations, reactions were mixed. >> they seem to help with tv watching. they weren't so great at deciphering conversations in a noisy environment. >> reporter: if you decide to try one, check the return policy before you buy. when it comes to the over-the-counter solutions, consumer reports says some may be worth a try as a less extensive alternative. the best thing to do is go to a hearing specialist to see if they are right for your needs. this weekend, i'll anchor live coverage of the st. patrick's

it was undergoing maintenance work when it suddenly gave way. a temporary structure supporting the overpass fell. two workers were hurt but they are expected to be okay. one driver said one minute everything was fine, then the next, a huge cloud of dust. this is the second time something like this happened in italy. last october, a man was killed when his car was crushed by a collapsing bridge near milan. it showed new photos over the bridge that is collapsing because of the recent storms and landslide. it was closed february 15th after they found movement. caltrans is warning people to stay at least 100 feet away from the bridge because it is unstable. a 15-mile stretch of highway 1
