an oakland police officer is in the hospital after a scary crash this morning involving another car. could you see the damage to the driver's side of the patrol car after it took out that light pole. thank you for joining us, i'm natasha zouves. >> and i'm kristen zse. this accident happened this morning before 5:30 before broadway and ridgeway. amy hollyfield is live at the scene. you just learned new information on what the officer was doing when the crash happened. >> reporter: a spokesperson for the police department told me that the officer was on his way to a priority call. they don't know if his lights and sirens were on or the

primary officer or the cover. that is also under investigation. his car was so badly damaged it did have to be towed out of here. the officer was southbound on broadway when he he knocked over a light pole and hit a tree in the median. and another car was involved. they don't know who hit who at this point. the other driver was okay. not hurt. just the officer. a witness told us he helped pull the officer out of his car and he said the officer was pretty shaken up. the crash was loud. a few people here were talking this morning about how it woke them up. >> boom, boom, bang, bang. and like -- because it's quiet up here. >> reporter: officers shut down this block of broadway at 42nd as they investigate and cleaned up. it was so early in the morning, it didn't cause a huge inconvenience, but take a look at the northbound traffic, one lane is blocked because city

crews working to repair the broken light pole. the officer is doing okay. a spokesperson tell me he went to see him this morning in the hospital and he is recovering nicely. they are looking for any witnesses, anyone who saw this happen. they are hoping that they will give the police department a call. live in oakland, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. and on to breaking news now in the north bay, a woman is believed to be badly burned after a fire in san rafael. they responded to a two-alarm fire on bayview near d. street n around 9. wayne freedman is on the scene and say one woman was very badly burned. one apartment was destroyed and several others were damaged. we're working to get more information on this breaking news. make sure to follow us on twitter@abc 7 news bay area. >> authorities are looking for a motive in a targeted freeway shooting that closed part of i-80 for hours during the

commute. the shattered window of a honda minivan that was hit by passing gunfire in richmond. around 3:00 yesterday afternoon, a man and woman inside of the honda were both hit and flown to the hospital with serious injuries. three juveniles are reportedly in custody. president trump is telling republican lawmakers that it is time to act on the gop health care proposal. mr. trump met with a group of lawmakers at the white house hoping to rally support for the legislation that is facing stiff opposition from democrats and conservatives. meantime there are lingering questions about mr. trump's explosive allegation that president obama ordered wire tapping at trump tower. here is jen a norman. >> reporter: james comey called to capitol hill to meet with congressional leaders, the so-called gang of eight. the series of top secret briefings concerning national security. on the list, russia's interference in the 2016 election and president trump's explosive allegations president

right. >> but we're not stopping here. this is just a beginning of our work. >> reporter: jenay norman, abc 7 news, washington. new job numbers are coming out, covering the president's full month in office. the u.s. economy adding 235,000 jobs in february. much stronger than expected. likely clearing the way for the federal reserve to raise interest rates next week. and it is the most important report when it comes to gaging the health of the economy. the first job report under president trump. some of the biggest growth came from construction and manufacturing. [ bell ] we are seeing mixed reaction in u.s. stocks this morning as an early rally fades. technology and industrial companies are rising, though, more than the rest of the market. well san jose residents still facing a huge task of recovering after being hit by a flood, they had no idea was

coming. >> and now the city is promising that the new system will make sure this doesn't happen again. >> matt keller live at san jose city hall for us. matt? >> reporter: good morning, help is still out there for flood victims. the assistance center moved here to city hall starting today. now san jose officials have learned something through all of this. that maybe some preparation and advanced warning could prevent a lot of heartache and damage. the rock springs neighborhood in san jose is like a ghost town. cars flooded on february 21st are stranded in the street, garage doors left open. the only activity -- people working on making the homes liveable again, including volunteers from christian aid ministries. >> it is really overwhelming. because every house had a little bit of water in and all of the sheetrock needs to come out up to two or four feet and all of the floor coverings need to come up. >> and this person manages an apartment complex on nordale and

has a graveyard of cars left in the back and a skeleton of a home. >> what is it like the last two weeks. >> like hell. >> reporter: advanced notice would have allowed them to get valuable property and mementos out of their home. but that didn't come in time. they want to work from the disaster so the public work's department is developing a flood threat matrix which would use information related to river flows to warn residents up to three days ahead of time. it is a three-tiered system. level one is yellow, level two is orange, meaning it is likely to flood and red alert is evacuate because of imminent flooding. >> we're hoping that with better triggers in place and how the creek system works and the conditions and warnings, that we could provide better notice to our residents when the time comes. >> the city still needs to work out the details on what would trigger those alerts. they are meeting with the water district next month. live in san jose, matt keller,

new details in a brutal road rage attack in san francisco caught on video. poice are on the hunt for the dirt bikers behind this terrifying assault on a driver in the middle of rush hour. the chronicle identifies the victim as an uber driver who lives in modesto but come news the city to work. a family member said he just had a baby boy. the brutal beat down happened on highway 101 on wednesday, the chp said the bikers were doing stunts on the freeway and when the victim tried to pass them, they surrounded him. witnesses tell abc 7 news they saw the victim being kicked and punched and left suffering with a broken leg. las vegas official is questioning the new financing deal for the raiders' proposed stadium in nevada. the clark county commissioner told the mercury news, the financing doesn't pencil out. he doesn't think the stadium will generate enough revenue to pay off the $46 million that he

estimates the raiders will be paying each year on the loan. the raiders have yet to release any details about the financing plan. nfl owners could vote on a move to las vegas later this month. b.a.r.t. won't be raising fares, at least for now. they decided against a hike at yesterday's meeting but the board will have to make changes to fill a budget gap projected to be at least $25 million. one possibility is adding a surcharge for paper tickets. you could avoid that charge with a clipper card. b.a.r.t. is considering reducing discounts and cutting service. just ahead this morning, this is a crazy scene. some little kids trying to steal the show from dad during a serious tv interview. it is one woman's reaction though that is priceless. >> and the live look outside right now from our exploratorium camera looking across the bay. some clouds out there but also very warm today. meteorologist mike nicco is coming up with yo

mateo 69 and everybody else 70 to 75 degrees. here is a look at the east bay hills camera. a spare the a day -- not a spare the air day. 63 at the coast and low 70s for the bay and inland neighborhoods. 61 at 4:00 with the clouds and look at nice at 6:00, 57 to 66 and still in the mid to upper 50s, most neighborhoods at 8:00. so comfortable evening. so tonight we'll be cooler than this morning. mid-40s to low 50s. and look for more in the way of fog development than this morning. now around the state, look at that, 90 in palm springs. 83 in l.a. you could see the clouds trying to clear out during the afternoon hours. low to mid-70s through the central valley. let's head up to tahoe. about 51 degrees. a little bit above average which is 48 degrees. temperatures with increasing sunshine this weekend will hit the upper 50s but it will be chilly at night. and in the 20s. 62 or warmest day. and then we start to see the

temperatures cool as some cooler and drier air moves in by thursday and a stray shower possible tuesday, wednesday and thursday but it won't add to the snow pack. tomorrow is the san francisco st. patrick's day parade and michael finney leading the festivities. 61 at 11:00 and 64 at 2:00 and 59 at 5:00. and now our accuweather seven-day forecast. it may be a degree or two cooler because we start off cooler. sunday temperatures like today. and tuesday in between and we'll push near 80 in the north bay around napa and possibly santa rosa. a slight chance of rain wednesday, we'll call it a one on our storm impact scale. and then thursday we're still looking warmer than average, 60 at the coast and low to mid-70s. enjoy the warm weekend. >> thank you. we'll do that. from food to st. patrick's day fun, if you are looking for something this weekend, we have you covered. >> reggie aqui from abc 7
