good morning bay area. let's get up and get going. this is "abc 7 mornings." it's saturday, march 11th. i'm cornell bernard. lots of sunshine today. here's meteorologist lisa argen. hey, lisa. >> hey, cornell, good morning to you. looking at the clear conditions, but we're going to go down a little lower where we have the low clouds and fog in half moon bay. a mile in napa. it's improved in concord. but a live look from mount tam. you can feel it filling in here with 57 in oakland. 56 in san jose where the sun is shining. santa cruz, low to mid-70s return here. 47 santa rosa. 55 in concord. 52 in livermore. that foggy golden gate. the sun will even clear at the coast. looking at 40s and 50s for the next couple of hours.

60s at noontime. a gorgeous day today. how long will this warmer weather pattern last? >> lisa, we'll see you soon. today is the 166th annual st. patrick's day parade in san francisco. the oldest and biggest west of the mississippi river. you can watch it live right here on abc 7. we have a preview. hey, great day for a parade. >> reporter: it's very quiet here right now. that's the nice thing about the st. patrick's day parade, you can sleep in a little bit on a saturday and you can still make it. it doesn't start until 11:30. here's a look at last year's parade. they expect 5,000 participants from all over the country. there will be floats, dancing and marching bands all making their way down market street. organizers say even visitors from ireland are impressed. >> a couple of years ago they came to visit us, and they were

in the parade. the thing that most impressed him about the parade, that everybody was out there at the parade. you didn't have to be irish. there were people of all ethnic groups. that's a great tradition we have, too. >> reporter: this year's parade theme is focusing on traditions. organizers are stressing the importance of handing down the irish traditions to the next generation. it starts at 11:30 at 2nd and market street. then there's going to be a festival all day long in front of civic center plaza. the weather is going to be perfect. talk about luck of the irish. it will be a great, fun day. if you don't have plans today, come on out here to market street and check it out. abc 7 news. >> you've got a great vantage point for it. amy, thanks so much. a woman with dementia lost in the woods expected to resume this morning. sky 7 shows the area in san mateo county that the rescue crews will comb through. 56-year-old bethany haury hasn't been seen since she took a walk along skyline boulevard. >> reporter: the first full day of certaining came to an end without success. 56-year-old bethany haury was last seen thursday a little after 4:00 p.m. she was hiking with her dog in woodside. this woman lives on skyline. she says hikers get lost here all the time. >> a lot of people come knocking on my door looking for, you know, their car. they just get turned around. >> reporter: more than 70 search and rescue personnel, some on horseback and 13 dogs have been looking for bethany in rough terrain. >> this is a very wooded area. it's very challenging for anybody from the air to see anything, as well as the ground

units. she has early onset of dementia. we're worried about where it is that she might be located at this point, or if she even knows where she is. >> reporter: she was staying at a bed and breakfast with her husband and 15-year-old son. her son reported her missing thursday night around 7:00. she's 5'5", 140 pounds and wearing yoga pants and a pink shirt. her dog is a large australian shepherd. they said it's good the weather's been mild and there's plenty of water to be found in the woods right now. the search resumes at first light. a 60-year-old woman is undergoing a physical and psychological evaluation after san francisco police say she was armed and forced part of the mission district into lockdown. police say the suspect surrendered after a seven-hour standoff. it all happened at valencia and 6th street yesterday and well into the night. sergio has details. >> reporter: a busy section of the neighborhood remained in

limbo for hours. the police even brought in muni buses for residents to wait in and began working with the red cross in case it went into the night and people had to sleep somewhere else. but at 9:00, it ended. >> the subject walked out into the hallway, and the hostage negotiators there took the subject into custody. >> reporter: this all started about 2:00 p.m. a pest control man was going room to room inside the crown hotel offering his services. when he knocked on the suspect's door, the person opened it holding a gun. that's what prompted a response. three busy blocks had to be cleared of residents, customers and employees of businesses here. >> the police officer just told us, you should run, you should run. because we were walking, he was gesturing to us, you better run. >> they told us we were in the line of fire and run out into the streets. we weren't under any kind of cover, so it was a little chaotic and scary. >> reporter: we did see officers

with ballistic shields. seven hours into the standoff, it finally ended. the suspect has been taken into custody. the gun has been found. abc 7 news. we've been sending out push alerts about the story since it first started. download the abc 7 news app and stay on top of breaking news where you live. be sure to enable the push alerts. this morning, a man is in jail arrested for a shooting that shut down eastbound interstate 80 in richmond this week. chp investigators arrested johnson. the 24-year-old from richmond, along with two 17-year-olds are accused of opening fire on a blue van near the san pablo exit thursday. the driver of the van is in grave condition. his passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was also injured. the chp credits witnesses for helping them arrest the suspects within hours of the shooting. santa clara county sheriff's office arrested a second person in the beating of an 88-year-old woman in san jose.

flo douglas died in october after fightig for her life for several weeks. prosecutors charge zachary cohen with her murder, saying he broke into her home and beat her. this morning, jennifer jimenez is also in custody, being held without bail. detectives thinks she helped conceal the crime. a man stalking underage girls is in jail on $1 million bail. the judge made that decision at the first hearing for sony. his father had nothing to say to us. the 35-year-old is accused of following a 14-year-old girl home, offering her money and gifts, and keeping photo collages of young girls at his home. >> you have a defendant who has targeted young women and young girls, and has annoyed and harassed them repeatedly over the course of the last few years. >> investigators say sony has applied for jobs at churches and schools.

more possible victims have come forward. the wife of the orlando nightclub shooter will remain in jail, even though a judge in oakland granted her bail last week. she's accused of aiding and abetting her husband who killed 49 people last summer in orlando. a judge in florida decided she should not be released because the two talked about a club attack less than a week before it happened. she claims she did not know the extent of his plans. mark your calendars, b.a.r.t. announced the newest station will finally open for passengers on march 25th. the warm springs station extends b.a.r.t. service to southern fremont near the tesla factory. >> reporter: fremont is no longer the end of the line. b.a.r.t.'s warm springs station will open in two weeks. >> i checked the alerts. i'm very excited. it will really cut my driving commute a lot. >> reporter: it's shiny, new,

and so lar powered. >> it is the first for b.a.r.t. in terms of being entirely solar powered. we have 42 electric vehicles charging stations. those are solar powered as well. >> it's great for the people who live in san jose. >> reporter: approved in 2007, the project has seen its share of hang-ups from funding to power and software issues. >> there have been three major delays. and so we're very excited to get past those and ready to begin service. >> reporter: some 7,000 people a day are expected to use the station. for riders who board in fremont, you may lose the perk of being the first stop, a shot at a seat. >> at times i get to this station. >> reporter: later this year, the line will expand again to san jose. >> that could be useful because then we can go south using b.a.r.t. >> reporter: new b.a.r.t. stops, same old battle for a seat, but it's better than i-880.

france's health department released an urgent warning about a toxic herbal tea. it contains a deadly poison. it was purchased by two people at the sun wing would trading company on grant avenue in chinatown. both a man and a woman became severely ill and had to be hospitalized with life-threatening heart problems. the health department is now asking anyone who has this tea to throw it out immediately. san francisco police are helping out a single mother and former army veteran who was robbed at gun point with her 1-year-old daughter. it happened last weekend inside a parking garage in the mission.

police are still looking for these two men. the mother had just taken out money for her baby's first birthday party. police raised the money to help the mother have that birthday party. there's also a go fund me page set up to help them out financially. self-driving cars are coming to a freeway near you. there are proposed regulations for self-driving vehicles. they address public safety concerns while recognizing the potential of autonomous technology. it will require certification to meet federal safety standards set up by the federal highway traffic safety administration. it will identify requirements to sell such vehicles and address licensing, registration and advertising. the tony award-winning musical "hamilton" is now open in san francisco. yes, you can still get tickets. you just need a little luck on your side. "hamilton" now playing at the

orpheum theater. one man told us he can't wait to see the modern take on a founding father. >> he's always been sort of in the background. i guess what they do in this, they're bringing out more of the uniqueness that he contributed to the founding of this country. >> producers are still selling 44 tickets to each performance. they're only $10. and available through an online lottery. to sign up for the next lottery, go to abc 7 news.com or our abc 7 news app. you have to sign up two days before each performance. good luck. happening today, residents in contra costa county were invited to a community meeting about the status of the plan to repair morgan territory road. the danger of an ongoing mudslide has closed the road for the last two weeks. people can only walk over the slide or drive a treacherous one-lane road to livermore. the meeting starts at 1:30 this

morning at 4255 morgan territory road in clayton. a new warning at the oroville dam this morning. this is video shared by the state department of water resources. as you can see, they're still repairing damage from last month when the emergency spillway was at risk of collapse. the main spillway was also badly eroded by rushing water. a $3 billion bond measure is making its way through the state legislature after the near disaster at oroville. governor brown and the senate agreed $5 million should be spent on flood protection this year. the governor wants to use general funds while the senate leader favors a bond measure. with spring around the corner, have your allergies kicked in yet. a lot of people are sniffling and suffering. it's likely to get worse.

firefighters say there is no direct impact to patient care at the hospital. no word yet on any injuries, or what could have been the cause there. now, your accuweather forecast with lisa argen. >> good saturday morning to you. waking up to some fog. also a lot of sunshine out there and some mild temperatures. the visibility now has been improving in santa rosa, petaluma, four miles in napa. but less than a quarter of a mile down around half moon bay. certainly from the golden gate bridge along the san mateo coast, issues there. take it easy. and looking at mount tam, boy, a pretty shot for you. low clouds and high clouds in the north bay today. but otherwise, full sunshine. 53 in the city. 57 oakland. mountain view 57. gilroy in the low 50s. half moon bay, 50 with the fog. from our east bay hills camera, sunshine with the low cloud deck. 47 in santa rosa. 54 for you in napa and novato. as well as fairfield, concord at 55. and livermore 52 degrees.

gorgeous here with 54 degrees in santa cruz. temperatures in the lower 70s. once again, spring-like conditions this weekend with high temperatures well above average. not really typical of march. but we'll take it. should feel a little bit more like may out there with all these 70s. the mild pattern continues even with some cooler weather headed our way the middle of the week. that cooler day happens to be wednesday. but we will see perhaps a slight chance of a shower. we might even take it out. download our app and check the changes. 71 in fremont. mid-70s returning for santa rosa, and antioch. if you're headed to the mountains, serious sunshine with gorgeous conditions. but snow melt all throughout the week with temperatures near 60 degrees today and tomorrow. overnight lows in the 20s. if you are tracking our warm-up

into sunday, very similar to today. the numbers will be above average. upper 60s in the city, with low 70s for san jose. 70 in oakland. we should see about 64 this time of year. but let's check out the week ahead in san jose. you like it nice and sunny, we have several of these days ahead. monday and tuesday we'll be in the mid-70s. wednesday when the numbers dip, it will still be above average there. if you're headed into the city for the st. patrick's day parade, it will be a beautiful day with temperatures in the low 60s at 11:00. mid-60s 2:00. and still at 60s at 6:00. don't forget to set your clock ahead. we'll have that extra day of daylight. the sunset sets after 7:00 tomorrow. looking at that, we have that to look forward to. and numbers will be in the upper 70s right on through tuesday. and then here comes our dip on wednesday.

green. it's a chicago tradition that dates back to 1962. each year, the river dyeing kicks off st. patrick's day parade in chicago. the parade will feature irish step dancers, floats and marching bands. it starts at 9:00 this morning our 250i78. one of the best-known breweries has suddenly shut down. speak easy ales and lagers spokesperson said it tried more than a year to secure the capital it needs to keep going. two years ago, the brewery borrowed $7.5 million to expand. leftover inventory has now been shipped to distributors. a well-known muralist is leaving his mark in san francisco. yesterday abc 7 news was at shotwell and 16th streets as douglas miles completed this huge mural on the side of a building. miles used spray paint to depict the faces of two native americans. he wants indigenous people to see the mural and feel proud of their heritage and stand up for

the way. michael finney will anchor our live coverage of the parade. our coverage begins at noon on air and on the abc 7 news app and at abc 7 news.com. join us for that. developing news in the south bay. a man is in custody after leading the police and chp on a chase through three cities. it started around 2:30 this morning in mountain view, and ended in santa clara. police tried to stop the speeding car, but the suspect refused to pull over. the suspect slammed into a stopped car and tried to get away but police were able to stop him. an officer was hurt while trying to take the suspect into custody. he's expected to recover. the suspect faces hit-and-run, and dui charges. it's been a week since the president claimed former president obama wired trump tower before the election. there are major developments about michael flynn who resigned as national security adviser. here's abc news chief white

house correspondent jonathan karl. >> reporter: the justice department was given an ultimatum. turn over all evidence, if any exists, that president obama had trump tower wiretapped. the deadline? monday. president trump made the extraordinary allegation without providing any proof. we asked him for some. >> reporter: fbi director james comey briefed congressional leaders behind closed doors, to say the wiretapping didn't happen. it comes as the department is investigating russia's meddling in the election, and any ties to the president's aides. national security adviser michael flynn was fired last month for misrepresenting the nature of his conversations with the russian ambassador. and now another controversy. we've learned that at the height

of the presidential campaign, a company with ties to turkey hired flynn to promote the interests of the turkish government. this came shortly after flynn's fiery speech at the republican convention. >> yes, that's right, lock her up. >> reporter: three weeks later, flynn's firm was hired by the turkey connected company, and ultimately paid $530,000. he was simultaneously serving as a top adviser to the trump campaign. sitting in on classified intelligence briefings. on election day, flynn published an article declaring, we need to adjust our foreign policy to recognize turkey as a priority. we need to see the world from turkey's perspective. this week, flynn officially filed as a foreign agent for the work he did during the campaign. and that's how the white house says the president learned of his work on turkey's behalf. >> are you saying the president was not aware that lieutenant

general michael flynn was acting as a foreign agent when he appointed him to be national security adviser? >> correct. just remember, you wouldn't know that until he filed. he didn't file until two days ago. therefore, nobody would have known that because he hadn't filed as a foreign agent until two days ago. >> reporter: the white house acknowledges that he might need to register as a foreign agent. but they insist flynn never told trump himself. jonathan karl, abc news, washington. happening today, a group in san francisco plans to demonstrate and march against president trump. get up, stand up san francisco is asking for an investigation for any connection between the russian interference during the election and the trump administration. the group is also demanding the president release his tax returns. the demonstration starts at 11:00 this morning at the consulate on green street. another san francisco eatery has declared itself a sanctuary

restaurant. don ramon's restaurant posted this sign at the entrance. the restaurant hopes it calms the fears of the staff, which has pressed concerns about rumored immigration raids. the designation does not have any legal standing, but the owner said it's taught her how to protect her and her employ s employees' legal rights. >> how do you know that for a fact? >> the golden gate restaurant association is encouraging more san francisco restaurants to declare themselves sanctuaries. the group is hosting a workshop on the topic at don ramon's on march 20th. happening tonight on peninsula, cal trans will reroute traffic on the northbound lanes of highway 101 onto the newly built portion of the san francisco creek bridge. traffic between the embarcadero road and off-ramp will be diverted onto the structure.

tonight we spring forward for daylight savings time. but lawmakers are trying to get rid of this event altogether. it would give the lawmakers to vote to get rid of daylight saving time and keep the state in the pacific time zone year round. supporters say daylight savings is harmful to sleep while opponents say getting rid of it can interfear with summer and fall harvest. not me, i love the sunshine during the summer. >> yeah. all weekend long, it was a little cloudy yesterday. now we're dealing with patchy fog. a view from mount tam, where you can see how low-lying it is. it's below about 600 feet here. elsewhere, it fluctuaes. we're at 60 degrees already in antioch. 47 up in santa rosa. so more sunny days with above-average temperatures. but also the possibility maybe of some spring showers. we'll talk about it next in my

really carving out a niche over most of california. so a few high clouds throughout the north bay. we'll see some of those throughout the sky today. but really more sunshine than we enjoyed yesterday. here's a look at the san bruno mountains here. northern san mateo county, you can see a little bit of fog there. 53 in san francisco. 57 in mountain view. good morning to you in san jose. 50 in half moon bay. from this vantage point, high clouds. temperatures this time of year average low to mid-60s. we're already at 61 in los gatos. it's 52 in novato. still chilly in santa rosa at 47. mid-50s to low 50s in our inland evaluation. a little bit of fog for a short time in concord. this is the shot from the east bay hills camera. it's been very mild, in the 70s. more of that spring-like weather to come. not only today, this weekend, into next week, but even into the middle of the week when the temperatures take a hit. and we could see a slight chance of showers. but mainly at this point it

looks like north of i-80. highs today underneath all that sun, a few high clouds, mid-60s for san francisco. how about 70. oakland, san rafael, richmond, 72 in palo alto. ocean beach and half moon bay, more sunshine and those northwesterly winds allowing for that fog to be pushed offshore. we'll see a little bit more of it tonight. and the winds will kick up a little bit right around point rey, northwest winds. livermore today, once again, mid-70s. ten degrees above average. no changes tomorrow. even milder monday and tuesday. then that big dome of high pressure gives way and we could see a slight chance of showers mainly in the north bay. below average, you would think, but still above average for the coolest day of the week, in the 60s for most of you on wednesday. today in the city, look for all that sun with low 60s. at 11:00 the fog should burn
