six in his family. >> demarcus was my best friend. i lost my best friend. i really lost my best friend. >> reporter: thursday, someone shote drove on eastbound interstate 80 in richmond. >> it doesn't make any sense. it doesn't make any sense at all. >> i don't think nobody has slept yet, been up since thursday. any time i close my eyes i see him. >> reporter: demarcus' sisters say even though he was the baby, he was their protector, a role he played thursday as well for his passenger and close friend. >> that's the last thing he did. he covered her and took all the bullets for her. and he would have lived. just that one to the head killed him. >> reporter: law enforcement officials said the shooting wasn't random but demarcus' family said no one would want to hurt him. >> college student, good kid. all he did was work out, play with the family. >> reporter: richmond police located a vehicle matching witness descriptions and took

arrival was unlike what we've seen the last eight years on a much lower profile. this is the first visit to the silicon valley since he left the white house. he didn't come out to answer any questions. we just saw his motorcade drive out of the airport. this weekend is also one of his first public sightings since current president donald trump lodged still uncorroborated claims that obama's administration ordered wiretaps of trump tower during the election. those charges by trump were posted last weekend. he wrote in part, how low has the president gone to tap my phones during the very sacred election process? the sitting president has refused to answer questions about his charge. but the house intelligence committee has asked the u.s. justice department to hand over any evidence of this claim by tomorrow. the democratic ranking member of that committee is skeptical. >> i don't expect we're going to see any evidence of this. >> reporter: members of the president's own political party also have their doubts. >> have you seen any evidence

that president obama ordered a wiretap on president trump during the campaign? >> george, i have not seen that evidence. >> the president has one of two choices. either retract or to provide the information that the american people deserve. >> reporter: obama flew into san jose after spending the day with warren buffett in omaha. that was also a low-key affair. they shared sunday lunch at a country club. there was no comment to local media. a pregnant woman is safe after disappearing for several hours in san francisco. lauren soriano called her mother this evening. soriano is nine months pregnant. family notified police after she went missing for several hours. they told police they last saw soriano at her home in coal valley around 11:00. officers searched golden gate park where she often visits. people affected by the coyote creek flooding got help from the community today. abc 7 news was at

vote until they can truly make a determination, one, if there is a viable plan in oakland. >> they shouldn't go anywhere, stay here. they went to l.a., they still came back to oakland. >> any move by the raiders to leave can be blocked if nine nfl owners vote against it. radio shack is closing nearly 200 additional stores tomorrow after filing for its second bankruptcy in two years. more than 1,800 employees are expected to be affected. the electronics chain previously filed for bankruptcy in 2015 and closed 2,400 stores, including several in the bay area. radio shack has not released which stores will close tomorrow. abc 7 news talked to employees of radio shack on san francisco's market street and another on 24s street. both say they don't know if their stores are closing. an iconic group in san francisco sings the praises of a famous comedian. ♪

the flames from there until it was deemed too dangerous. firefighters said items in the store and a large amount of chili peppers added fuel to the fire as well as created an irritant. it's unclear at this point what started the fire. we're now hearing from the grandfather of a little girl in pennsylvania who was killed in a fire linked to a hover board. 3-year-old ashanti hughes died yesterday. the fire happened friday night when a hoverboard that was plugged in and charging exploded and sparked the flames in her home. two other girls are in critical condition. a man and a teenage boy were also hurt but have been released from the hospital. we can't replace her. the pain is so deep. hurt. my soul is hurt. >> a firefighter was killed responding to the fire. police say a drunk driver hit a stop sign and hit the lieutenant's far. the milpitas man accused of

sneaking onto white house property will be in federal court tomorrow. a secret service officer stopped jonathan tran yards from a white house entrance. tran told the officer he was a friend of the president and had an invitation. they say they found two cans of mace on him. tran's been charged with entering restricted grounds while carrying a dangerous weapon, faces up to ten years of prison if convicted. his brother says tran was troubled after being laid off from his engineering job and was living in his car. a missing woman found in woodside after nearly two days is now out of the hospital. bethany hari disappeared thursday afternoon after going on a hike. rescuers found her yesterday at the bottom of a ravine. hari spoke to abc 7 news on the phone today. she's physically exhausted with bumps and bruises. her brain scan showed nothing abnormal. hari thanked the crews that helped find her. one of san francisco's most famous performing groups saluted one of comedy's biggest stars for her support of gay rights.

a hem owner heard a noise and discovered a frightening sight. take a look at what happened. an suv skidded off the road near his house, landing right on top of his roof. this happened in china's shangzu. the driver accidentally stepped on the accelerator, skidded off the road, then landed on the roof. no one was hurt. a moose frightened skiers and snowboarders in colorado.

2013, st. mary's is going to the ncaa tournament. this was the scene at mckee onas the gales watched the selection show this afternoon. st. mary's seeded seventh in the west regional and play virginia commonwealth thursday at 4:20 in salt lake city. the gales went 28-4. seven players on the roster are from australia. they hope to have more than just a good day, but a few good weeks. cal will be a number one seed in the n.i.t. hosting cal state bakers field tuesday night at haas. at one time cal appeared to an shoo-in for the tournament but finished its pac-12 schedule 1-5. there's a chance the 49ers will make a deal for washington's kirk cousins but for now brian hoyer is san francisco's starting quarterback. hoyer has a relationship with niners head coach kyle shanahan. when he played for cleveland in 2014, shanahan was the browns offensive coordinator. that season he threw for a
