second half of your weekend. this morning clouds and fog. 50s for everyone. by noontime we will see gray skies with 50s and 60s, and partly to mostly cloudy skies today but notice the absence of any consistent rainfall. as we look at the next seven days, yes, we are getting interest a 1 on our storm imp t imscale, monday and tuesday wet, and we will track it for you in a few minutes. a dozen rooms in a san jose health care facilities are closed after an explosion rattled the building leaving two people injured. detectives are look into whether a lit cigarette ignited an oxygen tank at the kansas springs po springs post acute center. >> we heard, i think it was glass, shattering, and then the fire alarm where the alarm

started beeping. >> there was a fire at canyon springs post acute facility, and jasmine wong was inside entertaining the residents. police believe somebody was spoking a cigarette in a room with a oxygen tank nearby, andnr it caused an explosion and fire. delores harris rushed over to check on her mom being treated here. >> i jumped in my car and broke a couple laws to get over here and to see about her. >> fire crews say employees had to evacuated 125 patients. harris was concerned about her mom who had dimension. >> i know she is pretty

disturbed about it, 100 years old, i am sure she is worried about it. >> san jose police investigate the cause, and patients from the rooms are being treated in another part of the building. in san jose, lonnie reveiverriva news. abc7 news was at east ridge little league fields in san jose where family and friends paid their respect to frank navarro. he was fatally stabbed while working security at a bar last month. people at last night's memorial remembered navarro as a caring mentor and friend. >> a sincere guy, and really affected many people. >> somebody that put his heart out for the kids, and he loved it. he breathed baseball, eat baseball, sleep baseball. >> navarro's funeral will be this morning at 9:00 at the

santa clara county fair grounds. it has been 3 1/2 months since the deadly ghostship fire, and no additional charges filed. the district attorney's office is still wait tporg a report from the city of oakland, and that report could be available to the da's office as early as today. >> reporter: the ghost ship is in the district. >> i am surprised we are here today to dispute publicly. >> he says the city and county long had a contentious relationship and now there seems to be friction between o'malley's office, and parker's office. in e-mails obtained by the east bay timeses, one of o'malley's deputies sent a letter demanding

a draft report under review, and if the oakland fire department submitted a report for you, a copy of the unredacted and unedited report needs to be submitted to the office for review. >> they don't want a prepackaged version of the facts and the district attorney is the main investigative criminal arm of the county and they want to know what happened, when it happened, what did you see? >> criminal defense attorney, daniel hoar witnesses, reviewed this for us. he said fire investigators have an obligation to turn over all evidence to the prosecutor's office. if charges are filed it could affect the case. >> this game playing by the city of oakland will be used by the defense attorneys for their culpable people to say to the jury there's a conspiracy to shift blame to my client. tpheufplt a written statement to abc7 news, alex cat says they are fully cooperating. there is no dispute. the city is not withholding any

abc7 news was in berkeley as faith leaders rallied against president trump's immigration policies yesterday afternoon. they called on elected leaders to defend sanctuary cities and protect those who are vulnerable to deportation. >> we have been a sanctuary city for decades, and our policies, they will not kcollaborate i.c.e. >> the mayor says berkeley will continue to provide legal, medical and social services for undocumented residents. if you are traveling to travel abroad be prepared for a long wait to apply for it. people sat on the floor waiting for their number to be called. one woman says she waited for more than 3 1/2 hours and it was her second time there. >> we came last week and we came

a little bit later, like at 9:30, and it was, like, packed. so we left and decided to come earlier today. >> all overt country more people are applying for passports. ten years ago the law changed requiring american citizens to have passports to go to canada and mexico. the state department saw a surge in applications then and now it says it is seeing a spike in renewals. a record number of people are getting their tattoos removed because of fears they may be targeted by immigration agents. the people who run the removing barriers program in san pablo say they have seen more people coming to their weekly tattoo removal clinic since last november's election. >> it's a fear. nobody wants to be a target and with the political climate that has been surfacing, it's difficult for them. >> the corporation started the program to help people find

pattern for the first week of spring. we should be in the mid-60s today but around fremont and san jose and con kacord by 3:00 in afternoon, you will reach the 60s and 70s. looking back on march, only five rainy days if you can believe it. we had a stretch of dry and warmer weather. as we get into the second last week here, we will paint more green on the screen here, and in particular, friday looking to be rainy with gusty winds and very heavy downpours. let's take you through the next two days, where today will continue to see the cloud cover, a few spotty showers, and this is 9:00 tonight, and tomorrow morning your morning commute could feature a little more pavement, and we will see more showers from 2:00, and can you see in the north bay, san francisco, the santa cruz mountains, and they become more scattered late in the day, and cold air moves in behind this system and we are looking at thunderstorms possibly with more downpours on tuesday, so we are

adding up your three-day totals from monday to wednesday, and half an inch to an inch along the coast and more in the north bay. check out friday, this is where i want to highlight, moderate to heavy rain. we are looking at an additional one inch. by midnight, we are checking out the rain continuing to spread all over the bay, and right on through the day, your friday commute and into saturday. it's a 2 on our storm impact scale, and that means gusty winds and heavy downpours, and then scattered showers and possible thunderstorm on tuesday, and then wednesday and thursday, light, we will see sun and a chance of showers, and by friday we are getting over it and that will bring our totals up to where we should be for march, and we are below for right now, and we have been above for the earlier year, so why not march.

welcome back, everyone. we are starting this half hour with a look at the weather with our meteorologist, lisa argen. >> good morning to you, and hi, everyone. if you are an early riser you may have noticed the fog or light rain out there if you are far to the north or the coast

because that's where we have very light returns. here's live doppler 7, and you can see the green that is representing a little bit of light precip from lake port to cloverdale, and more likely down around bough tkaeuga bay. today cloudier and cooler than what we had yesterday. 50s to start out. by midday we will see upper 50s and mid-60s and by 4:00 in the afternoon, mostly cloudy skies. you will see more sun and slightly warmer in the east bay, and we will have spring-like showers to begin, and then rain gets heavy by the end of the week and we will detail that for you in a few minutes. developing news out of louisiana this morning. a sheriff's deputy was shot and killed in the line of duty while conducting an investigation. it happened around 9:00 our time

in baton rouge. the sheriff was responding to a domestic situation when he was shot, and the suspect was also shot and is being treated at the hospital. this morning the airport near paris is open again following an attack on a female soldier there. a man held a pistol to the soldier's head using her as a shield. investigators say he wrestled away her assault rifle and intended to shoot people. he was previously flagged for possible radicalism. abc news reporter has the story from paris. >> reporter: sirens outside the airport in paris where investigators say soldiers shot and killed a man after he tried to grab one of their assault rifles. >> it was really quite a quick response by the security officials. >> law enforcement shut down that evacuated part of the

airport. many other travelers were stuck on planes. witnesses describe a scene of panic and gunshots and the man was taken down inside the terminal but outside the security barrier. according to the french prosecutor, he told soldiers he wanted to die for allah. he was born in france and lived in paris, and his name was known to authorities for robbery and drug use and not terrorism. police are now at his home and officials say he was involved in a carjacking earlier in the day, and shot at a police officer at a traffic stop. >> since the earlier attacks in 2015 you have special officers deployed at the airport in france who are highly trained and prepared for incidents like this and we see how the training paid off.

>> for now france remains under a state of emergency. abc news, paris. secretary of state, rex tillerson, met with chinese president, xi jinping, during his last stop during a tour of asia. tillerson says the u.s. is looking forward to the first meeting between president trump and his chinese counterpart, and tillerson says mr. trump places a high value on communications between the two presidents. reports say the leaders do plan to meet in florida next month. those reports have not yet confirmed. this morning the secret service is investigating another attempted security breach at the white house. a driver was taken into custody after he drove up to a checkpoint and told the security guard he had a bomb. the car was declared suspicious and searched at one point, a

robot was used to examine the vehicle, and later a bomb squad technician in full gear sifted through the materials found in the car. earlier yesterday another man was detained after hopping over a bike barrier, and sources tell abc news he wanted to deliver a letter to somebody in the trump administration. i am sure you know about this. nine days ago a man from milpitas scaled a fence and was on the white house grounds for 16 minutes. abc news learned jonathan tran first went to the white house on march 10th and made sixth attempts to make it through the complex through visitor gates, and he was able able to jiggle a handle before agents arrested him. and happening today,

the annual white pony express mobile boutique. it's to help end hunger and poverty throughout costa county. today's giveaway starts at noon at the elementary school in richmond. richmond. fight city hall over what they believe is a broken promise, just as the famous neighborhood is preparing to celebrate a milestone. >> reporter: this is known all over the world because of a defining moment in the 1960s, the summer of love that attracted an estimated 100,000 to san francisco. this year is the 50th anniversary and the landmark neighborhood is gearing up to celebrate, but businesses worry

this will be a buzz kill. >> we just want this over. >> he says he is losing customers, and merchants insist city officials promised a moratorium during the anniversary. >> that they wouldn't do any roadwork during the summer of love. >> we don't believe we ever said this work was not going to be done. >> rachel gordon says the promise delay was for a different project and this one involving water and sewer lines must proceed. >> we are hopeful we will get it done before april, but we have to keep going with the construction. >> i do have a lot of customers complaining, and most of them saying it's impossible to find parking. >> and marta stocked her shop with t-shirts and hopes the excavation on the street won't crush her business. this tourist believes nothing

and then a live look outside from the east bay hills camera, and the fog over san francisco, and san jose and half moon bay at 54. and the golden gate bridge. and fairfield is concord, the blanket of high mid level clouds and low clouds allowing for the uniform temperatures. can you just see a sliver of light from mount tam. and we have spotty showers in the north bay, and unsettled weather on monday and tuesday, and a 1 on the storm impact scale, and then a 2 on friday. we will get heavy rain, upwards of three quarters of an inch for some of you, and highs today, low 60s in the city, and so that is still above average, a few peeks of sun. the balance of march has been

dry with only five rainy days, but as we bring back more rain, the balance shifts and we are going to see several rainy days here, and bringing march to average totals. it has been below average for rainfall, and so we need to moisten it up a bit and we will do that as we go through monday. this is sunday, dry and a few sprinkles, and then we have showers from the north bay over spreading san francisco, santa cruz, and a few afternoon showers as well, and by tuesday, cold air moves in and we will get unstable air and thunderstorms, and that will allow from anywhere from a quarter to an inch to three quarters of an inch for three days. the north bay, one to two inches in the coast, and half an inch to an inch. and a 2 for friday, this is the day that looks to be a total washout for gusty winds, and so this is going to be the way friday looks with heavy downpours, gusty winds and a rainy day. it looks like it will last until

early saturday, and then we have a drier pattern setting up. the accuweather 7-day forecast featuring the 1 on the storm impact scale for the first day of spring, and scattered showers and possible thunderstorms on tuesday, and then thursday looks to be the drier day, and then late at night the stronger system moves in, and that will bring heavier rain and looking at the drier shift by next weekend. so you thought it was over, not quite. >> here we go. thank you, lisa. mountain view-based google collected imagery from all overt world, from the glaciers of greenland to the hills of africa, and now they have brought the images of an active volcano, and jonathan mann has the details. >> google this. what's it like to go inside a

volcano. and the web giant recently sent a crew to find out more than 1,000 miles off of australia, and the tiny island nation is home to nine active volcanos. google partnered with explorers to go inside one of them to get a view of the volcano like you have probably never seen before. the team travelled to the island of a island home of two volcanos, unpredictable and dangerous the chief of the local village calls the volcano devils, but their natural beauty is undeniable. >> it's so vast and incredible landscape, and it's a heartwarming feeling when you see the lava itself. an incredible feeling. >> strapping on a high-tech backpack, they repelled down 400
