because i'm her downhill neighbor, my view is not impacted in anyway. >> the arguments drift left and right. >> all these new residents, all saw the tree before they bought their house. >> and zig and zag just beyond tourists on the crookedest street in the world. wayne freedman, abc 7 news. we are back on storm watch right now. looks a bit cloudy on this view. in just hours, we're going to get a storm that will make tomorrow a washout. abc 7 news anchor, spencer christian is tracking the timing of it all. >> washout is a good choice of words. you can see the beginningings of this storm as you pointed out earlier, up to our northwest. it's not raining here in the bay area yet. the storm ranks two on the storm impact scale. rainfall totals ranging from a third of an inch to an inch in most areas. we'll see one to two inches of rain or more from this storm with powerful gusty winds. let's get to the forecast

animation starting at 7:00 this evening. notice by 10:00 or so, maybe a little after 10:00 tonight, we'll see rain pushing down into mendocino county. by 1:00 a.m., it will begin making a wider push across the north bay, between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., we'll see widespread rain across the north bay. later in the morning hours, before the morning commute, it has ended, rain will be spreading to virtually all parts of the bay area, it's going to be a wet and windy day. >> dan? >> spencer, thanks very much. >> a dangerous police chase ends with a crash into a creek. the sonoma county sheriff's office posted pictures of the suv in clover dale this afternoon, the driver refused to pull over and sped off at about 100 miles an hour, they arrested mary shaffer for evading police and driving with a suspended license, she's in the hospital with a broke ing pelvis. her passenger is in critical condition with a broken neck, back and torn aorta.

the killings of four people in sacramento, led to the capture of a possible suspect in san francisco this morning. two of the victims are children. sacramento officers uncovered the quadruple homicide after getting a call from a concerned relati relative. police broke into the home when no one answered the door. >> they were concerned there was something suspicious here at the residence. and they thought it required the police department's attention to check and make sure the occupants were okay. >> they were not okay, obviously. >> police were there with sacramento police this morning when they arrested a man in the western addition at an apartment building on pierce street and golden gate avenue. detectives have not said what his connection to the victim is. they have not revealed anything about how the four people died or when. san francisco police just sent us this mugshot of the man trying to kidnap a young girl

yesterday afternoon. he's 26 years old. he pushed a 13-year-old girl into his car around 5:00 last night. the girl screamed and police say people nearby pulled her out of the car as the would-be driver took off. police came to the door early this morning, asking for her son. >> of course i love him dearly, and i hope they're wrong. >> every person i talked to his brother, his best friend was like what? >> police don't believe he knew the victim, the special victims unit is looking to see if there could be other related cases. a former uc berkeley student is suing a long time professor claiming he groped and harassed her. searle abruptly stopped teaching at the university this summer, the former student was his assistant the last summer. the 84-year-old also watched porn at work.

when she complained her salary was cut and she was eventually fired. a uc berkeley spokesperson said the school hasn't seen the complaint and is unable to comment. in san jose, flood victims are gathering right now to get the latest detail on recovery efforts. abc 7 news reporter david louie is live at the library where that meeting is underway. david zm. >> reporter: dan an estimated 500 families are homeless as a result of the coyote creek flood. they're going to learn here tonight at the meeting, that the city of san jose has launched a major campaign to try to find vac an the units for temporary housing. >> we had an affordable housing crisis before these floods. we have a more acute affordable housing crisis today. >> sam licardo is making an appeal to find short term rental units for 500 families.

repairs are underway, or soon will be after property owners apply fore loans. >> it could be one month, two months, six months to help families stabilize. >> the appeal is also aimed at any homeowner with a spare room. >> we're certainly grateful for those apartment owners who are willing to waive security deposits to help families get up and running quickly. we simply need the inventory. >> air flood victim named miriam joined the appeal speaking in spanish. but in reality, she says, what we need is a stable place, not a temporary fix. district 7 councilmember tamm wynn expects housing to be the big topic at a town hall meeting for flood victims underway at the tully branch library.

>> the only concern is to understand what the progress of repairing the damaged home of the mold, of the contamination. >> the city has been working on a new warning system to alert residents of flooding and evacuati evacuations. home sales in the bay area have slowed. according to core logic, more than 4700 new and resale houses and condos sold in the bay area's nine counties last month. that's down from january and down more than 3% from february of last year. tenants of the salt lake warehouse in oakland are looking for a new place to live tonight. our media partners report that residents of the artists collective were evicted today, it's the latest fallout after last year's deadly fire at the ghost ship warehouse, which was an artist's studio and performance space where people were living illegally. 36 people were killed in that

horrible blaze. after the fire, the mayor signed an executive order calling for inspections of 18 other properties to make sure they're safe. next week, the nfl owners could approve the raiders move from oak land to las vegas. fans aren't letting go of their team without a fight. eric thomas explains how they're making sure the nfl sees that this is raider nation. >> raiders! >> at least three rallies are planned in oakland this saturday. >> as a demonstration to the nfl owners of how passionate we are here in oakland. >> owners are expected to vote monday on a proposal clearing the way for the raiders to move to las vegas. many observers believe the owner will get the 24 votes he needs. the group save oakland sports is urging fans to take to twitter to urge owners to vote no. >> we could communicate with people like jerry jones through twitter, let them know how upset you are about this.

a fresno mother battling cancer left a gift, she was able to deliver twins before she died, and we're hearing about this heart wrenching story from hire family, who spoke of abc 7 news reporter janine della vega. >> strong, selfless and smiling. she was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year, and was able to beat it. when she found out her cancer ce

was back. >> jamie had intensive treatment, including chemo therapy, in her last facebook post, she was hopeful. tomorrow will be a great day, god has been by my side the whole time, all the prayers and love have kept me going as well. wish me luck, i'm having a c-section at 7:00 and a radial hysterectomy right after. thank you for keeping me positive through all the hard times. >> she got to lay with them and hug them and spend some time with them. and passed away the next morning. >> reporter: jamie's brother chris is still numb, he was with her in the delivery room and thought she would pull through. >> she stayed so positive until the i bitter end. i'm holding her hand during the c-section, and she's still just holding together and staying strong. >> reporter: the girls are out

francisco fire crews are on the scene trying to fix the problem. fewer than 200 customers are still in the dark. this morning in san jose, another vault fire knocked out power. sky 7 flu over the scene after the fire broke out. firefighters had to let it burn out. because sprague water on to the fire could have made it worse. pg&e is fulfilling the terms of its sentence more than six years after the deadly san bruno pipeline explosion. pg&e was convicted on six felony charges in connection with the explosion that killed eight people. the sentence included the advertising campaign. a $3 million fine, five years probati probation, independent safety monitoring, and 10,000 hours of community service. a lot of speculation ended today. bob iger received a one-year contract extension. his new deal will keep him at

disney through 2019 about his pay will remain the same. disney will also pay iger a $5 million signing bonus. many observers had wondered whether the 65-year-old would step down. disney is the parent company of abc 7 along with lucas film, pixar and marvel. >> there is moisture in the air, it may not be hitting the ground yet, it will be soon. you can see the massive moisture moving over the north bay right now. it's getting close, and clouds are getting thicker over much of the bay area right now. here's the view from our mount tamm camera, looking down over the bay and out over ocean beach. right now it is 56 degrees here in san francisco. we have upper 50s in oakland, mountain view. 54 at half moon bay. this is the view from the east bay hills camera. i think you're seeing the clouds beginning do move more swiftly,

being guided by the wind. 54 degrees in santa rosa. here's a live view from our abc 7 exploratorium camera, looking southward a bit. these are our forecast features, it will be wet and windy tomorrow, we'll get a brief break on saturday. expect light rain and showers again sunday into monday. a wind advisory is in effect from 9:00 a.m. tomorrow until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow. winds will be out of the south with stronger gusts, there is the possibility of downed trees and power lines. the approaching storm that's coming in tonight ranks two on the storm impact scale, a storm of moderate intensity, most places around the bay area will see rainfall totals ranging from a third of an inch to an inch. in will be higher totals in the north bay, and along the coast and the santa cruz mountains, winds will be gusting up to 45, 50 miles an hour. 10:00 tonight, notice how quickly the rain surges down

through the north bay by 5:00 tomorrow morning. it will be wet all across the north bay. edging over to the east bay as well. during the morning hours, midmorning hours, we'll see rain reaching all parts of the area. it will be moderate to heavy in some spots, indicating the heaviest downpours, the north bay is going to get a soaking out of this, earlier in the day, the remainder of the bay area will get the soaking earlier in the day. by late tomorrow night, we'll see the rain winding down, and rainfall totals by 11:00 tomorrow night will range from half an inch in the south bay, up to an inch in san francisco. over an inch in most north bay locations, and along the coast and down into the santa cruz mountains, the morning and afternoon commutes will be wet and treacherous, drive carefully, light to moderate rain is expected throughout the day. winds gusting at 45 miles per hour. at times, ponding on roadways is

in san francisco leann melendez, abc 7 news. new at 6:00, police just announced they have arrested a woman in connection with a violent parking lot confrontation at a union city walmart. tips from the public helped them track down jessica malicoat. the confrontation was caught on surveillance camera sunday. it shows the suspect backing her car into a family, walking through the parking lot. the incident started when the store refused to give malicoat a refund for a purchase. tonight a show of solidarity in london as hundreds mourn the loss of four lives after yesterday's attack on the westminster bridge. the attacker has been identified as a 52-year-old born in britain with a lengthy criminal history, nothing related to terrorism. police believe he was a lone wolf, known to domestic intelligence, not on their radar at the time of the attack. londoners urged a peaceful unified response to the attack. >> we say that they don't have

help employers collect genetic data as part of company wellness programs. workers who do not participate could wind up paying thousands of dollars more in insurance premiums than their colleagues who get discounts from the programs. >> it's a huge amount of money for the average worker. >> that penalty flies in the face of major privacy laws that require most employee medical examinations to be voluntary. >> what this law says is that voluntary means you have to pay. >> supporters of the bill say the intent is to help bring insurance costs down by supporting wellness programs, it's also raising major concerns about genetic privacy. >> in the early 2000s, the federal government sued burlington northern railroad for seeking genetic tests from employees who complained of carpal tunnel syndrome. congress later passed the genetic information nondiscrimination act known as gina to prevent abuses. >> it's potentially something
