street was covered in water, and now check it out. it's covered eng many people are doing repairs to get people back inside their homes. as the cleanup continues, so does the finger-pointing. this is after the santa clara water district demanded to know why the city did not evacuate neighborhoods ahead of the flooding. they had the data and warnings they needed. >> what was the city waiting for to decide whether or not to call for mandatory evacuations? >> we recognize going forward we have to have lower trigger points for making decisions based on what we know the creek cannot handle. >> reporter: in the report being

presented today, some of the lessons today from the flooding was the technical data was misunderstood or discounted by others, and they need to be better partners on today's meeting starts at 2:00. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc7 news. now a live desk update. >> new this morning at the live desk we just got this video of a fire at the half moon bay nursery, and that's the one on san mateo road, and it took more than an hour to fight. when firefighters got there they found storage containers and greenhouses up in flames, and firefighters had no water supply there so they had to get water from a nearby street. no word on the extent of the damage. nobody was injured. it's also unclear at this point how it started. firefighters are still investigating right now. >> thanks.

after shave and boxers. palo alto's four battalion chiefs are getting raises, and some say they are excessive. currently the salary range is from 110,000 to $160,000 they could get a max salary of more than $182,000. three council members voted against the raise saying they are excessive since costs are going up. and they want to make sure the city has enough money to pay pensions. this is a regular guy who police in southern california are trying to track down. this happened on saturday morning on interstate 15, and the woman filming it saying it was nerve-racking knowing he could have fallen and caused

accidents. the driver and passengers could face several charges if caught, and that truck is easily identifiable because it's lifted with red rims. and then starting in our east bay temperatures. livermore, 48. concord, 51. 60 in pittsburgh. even up towards novato, napa, and 54 in santa rosa. and it's a little hazy this morning. maybe it has to do with the pollen. i was driving in this morning, and i swear i smelled a lot of pollen and maybe it was my brain playing games on me. it smelled like that cover that smells like pollen.

today is the warmest day so far this week. 65 at half moon bay. and cooling breezes home drop us to 61 in san francisco, and a few 70s around napa and also concord. see the rebound back in the low to mid-70s by the time we get to friday. tonight we have a few showers out there, and we will talk more about that in the next weather segment. if you are traveling around the state, 80s and 90s in palm springs. a slight chance of snow coming tomorrow. alexis? the only blocking issue is in the east bay. it's police activity partially blocking a ramp between eastbound 580 and eastbound 24, and that's a counter commute this time of day. the far right lane is blocked and they have a waiting for a tow truck, and then police activity around 30th and mlk. they are investigating a fatality in the area, but we

and saturday and sunday, some of the warmth will blow out towards the beaches. and everybody is calm to about 8 miles per hour. our bridges will be breezy this afternoon, and the ocean is going to be breezy, but not as much as yesterday. if you are doing some yard work today, watch out for the pollen. exercising, going to be warmer this afternoon. the dangerous waves will continue at the coast until 8:00 this evening. 12:00 tonight you can see a few sprinkles out there. and then by 2:00 you could see it run into the east bay hills and the coast. by 7:00, a drying trend, and by 9:00, the end of the morning commute we are out, and by noon we are seeing a whole lot of sunshine. it will be breezy tomorrow, though, faster than today, and a cooler breeze as we drop six to ten degrees. we will rebound quickly, and then another cold front will

come in monday and drop the temperatures down and promises no chance of rain. and then a construction slowdown here, northbound 101, you are seeing the red as you approach the foster city area. we had overnight roadwork scheduled at northbound 101 around holly street and state route 92, as many as three lanes blocked now, so you can stake to elcamino real. we had earlier police activity and the vehicle there is towed out of the way. this is going to look very bad, but i need to tell you, the motorcyclist is okay. >> you saw him go over the cliff around noon on sunday and the

and chalked full of sunshine. high clouds will roll in this afternoon with a gorgeous sunset, shaping up around 7:29. and then 60 at the coast, and mid to upper 60s for the rest of us during lunch. 69 to 73. that's nice. how about traffic, alexis? >> doing okay. our biggest issue is overnight roadwork that looks like it went a little late, northbound 101 at the peninsula between holly and state route 92, we had pavement repairs scheduled, but looks like it's going past the 5:00 a.m. cutoff, and you are right around two miles for that backup. keeping an eye on that and hopefully they will get that wrapped up soon. we will take a look at your commute around the bay bridge next. a shelter in place in alameda lifted.

>> amy hollyfield live. >> reporter: crews are here working on the situation. you need to turn right or left, but for some reason this driver went straight and plowed through the fence here at this pen plant and crashed into a gas line. with gas leaking the police were not sure if it was safe for the driver to get out of his car, and this happened at 1:00 this morning. they were concerned for residents who ended up getting a rude awakening. >> they used the 911 code-red system to make automated calls for everybody to shelter in place, and to turn off all the gas-supplied appliances and stay in their

>> reporter: pg&e had out, and the driver was said to be okay, and the workers think they will be here for another hour half or two hours to get everything patched up. abc7 news. >> amy, thank you. we want to bring you the latest on the devastating fire that happened in oakland, and we know four people died and the survivors trying to cope with their new reality. the building was home to a non-profit transitional housing program. one woman told us she knew several of the victims. >> two, and possibly three. i did know them. we have not had a chance to mourn yet, and that's why we are stressed. you know, it's just hard. >> the building is now unstable

and will soon be demolished and investigators are trying to figure out what started the fire and the building was inspected several days before had and that turned up several code violations, such as alarms that did not work. and two cars left with broken windows but the vandals did not steal much. did not steal much. the burglar targeted the condos here. the strange part is, there was not much taken. >> they just made a big mess. they took everything out. they trashed everything out and just made a big mess. >> did they take anything from your car? >> no, not even my winning lotto ticket on the seat. >> they left it? >> they left it. >> police say the vandals got away and don't have any suspect descriptions. a judge in hawaii will hear

arguments whether or not to extend the order to block president trump's travel ban. and some say he should narrow the ban that affect hawaii. judges in five other states are also blocking the ban. this morning central valley congressman nunez is refusing to step aside from the russian probe, and the pressure to do so is politically driven. his office confirmed he was on white house grounds when an unnamed source showed him secret intelligence reports and that's one day before nunez claimed he one day before nunez claimed he had members that

>> for the independence and credibility for this investigation, he should recuse himself and that's a bipartisan call, and a republican is calling for that also. >> nunez is denying a report he tried to block former acting attorney general sally yates before testifying before the house intelligence committee. yates was the first official to inform the white house that michael flynn had lied about his kefrizations with the russian ambassador. and then two that made undercover planned parenthood videos that were edited and misleading. california attorney general filed the charges against two. he says the videos were made without the consent of the people in them and that violates state law.

a deal to settle corruption charges against pg&e could mean a very small drop in your gas bill. there were improper communications linked to the san bruno pipeline explosion. that sounds like a lot of money but to figure out how many people that applies to, and it ends up being 22 cents a month that you will see a drop. happening today, residents at the sinking millennium tower hope a high-powered attorney can help them and he is expected to announce a lawsuit against the millenniu millennium. the hoa largely blames the developers and the poor design

of the building for the problems, and details of the filing will be released at noon. the ntsb is blaming caltrans lack of highway markings for a deadly greyhound bus crash. the bus slammed head on into a barrier on 101 in san jose on january 19th. the bus driver believed he was in an exit lane but he was instead traveling at freeway speeds in the breakdown lane. the ntsb found the impact barrels used to cushion a vehicle from driving into a divider lacked the markings. of the 21 passengers on that bus, only two were wearing seat belts. take a look. pretty incredible video coming out of central texas right now. there were 13 tornadoes yesterday, and now threatening several other states today. we will bring you a live look at

the devastation this caused in rockwell, texas. and in texas, oklahoma, louisiana, arkansas, all bracing for the worst now. tornadoes, heavy rain and large hail all in the forecast for them. 130,000 people are without power in the dallas, ft. worth area. and some in the northern part of the state reported softba softball-sized hail. central missouri, awful arkansas, and all the way down to alexander, louisiana, that's going to have the threat of severe weather today. here's a look at what is going on with us. temperatures for all of us, just about one to five degrees warmer than yesterday morning. that's going to springboard us pretty warm temperatures. 51 followed by lake march set,

police received phone calls about a bus containing livestock. the owner was trying to operate an educational mobile petting zoo, however the city doesn't allow livestock within city limi limits. the animals are said to be in good health. i can see why people were giving that a second look. we have got an 8-year-old female terrier, the sun is going to be strong even with high clouds coming in this afternoon. and you will see radar returning to our north but more likely it's not going to reach the ground until the sun sets tonight. can you see how clear it is outside. high clouds return and building warmth today and a chance for overnight showers tonight, and all the neighbors, even to the coast, your warmest day is saturday, even warmer than today. midnight, a sprinkle or two along the coast. they will move into the heart of the bay by 2:00, and then into the south bay, and will linger around 4:00. and by 7:00, you can see them

and golden gate giants ferry will be back this season, and that will take you right to park. take a look at the video playing in the center here. sometimes you have to improvise. that's a baby being pushed through a small hole in the wall in a pucketbucket. this happened in peru, rescuers saving her from a flooded home. the baby and the family of five were trapped in the home, and family members wanted to save her first and put her inside the bucket and pushed her through a small hole in the wall. we can tell you everybody got out okay. >> mama looked very relieved. new at 6:00, tesla's ramp for the model could be a boom for the job market.

this just coming in. three tsa workers are being treated after come into a contact with a mysterious substance at laguardia airport. the bag was going through security. the tsa agents are being treated after complaining of eye issues and traffic at the terminal is

getting back to normal after being closed for 40 minutes. right now all officials are saying it was some sort of white powder and appears to be a food substance. a woman that climbed 150 feet up a construction crane in downtown l.a. and locked herself in the cab is under arrest this morning. she wrapped a black cord around her neck while she was walking around outside. she was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. now to a break through in the fight against multiple sclerosis. it makes it the first drug ever approved for the most aggressive form of the disease. the drug was developed at bay area-based jaw tphepb tech. they plan to charge $65,000 a
