>> the showers we talked about yesterday materialized. hayward, san mateo southward, and they are light showers but they are enough as alexis pointed out, i wanted to show you 101 and 50 to 54 with the lightest breezes right now. they will ramp up and chase away the clouds and the rain easily by noon. 56 to 62. and 62 to 65, cooler than yesterday and still breezy at 7:00, 55 to 60. let's see if it's having an affect on the morning commute. so far so good this morning, mike. this is the san mateo bridge, soggy just 30 minutes ago, and we have a high wind advisory for san mateo bridge, and maybe the breeze drying things off a bit, and then the other wind warning on the bay bridge. we have soggy spots and over all it's a nice start to the commute. we will look at drive times coming up next.

and speaking of the drive, we already pay what is often the highest gas prices in the country, and the governor will be in the bay area pushing his plan to make us pay more. >> if it's approved the gas tax would be the first in more than 20 years. and amy hollyfield is live for us in concord. amy? >> reporter: it would add 12 cents a gallon to the price of gas and the governor has decided to come here to concord to try and convince people that this is a good idea. this gas tax would pay for $52 billion worth of road repairs. the governor says this would cost drivers less than $10 a month, and he says, hey, it's cheaper than paying for damage done to your car from bad roads. owners of electric cars would not escape the fee, they would pay a $100 annual fee because they use the roads but don't pay gas taxes. >> well, we are using the roads

so i can understand why there would be some sort of tax associated with that, but at the same time it's not fair because we -- i got the car so that i don't have to pay for gas. >> yes, it cost money and if the roof in your house is leaking, you better fix it because it gets worse all the time. >> reporter: republicans are against the governor's plan saying californians already pay some of the highest gas taxes in the country. sum democr some democrats are nervous too that it could cost them on election day. opponents can fight there but they will only delay it, that this has to and will happen. live in concord, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. happening today, the senate intelligence committee will hold its first public hear into russia's meddling in last year's election. >> this comes as the investigation in the house committee meeting came to a halt

they plan to interview, and that list includes sally yates, former acting attorney general. trump's travel ban could be heading back to the ninth circuit court of appeals in san francisco. a federal judge in hawaii extended his order that blocks the travel ban from taking affect last night, and u.s. district judge watson's decision is another legal blow to the trump's administration's attempt to ban muslim majority countries. secretary of state, rex tillerson tillerson, is meeting with turkey's prime minister. tillerson's motorcade arrived there overnight, and they are discussing ways to enhance security and extphaupl kwreubgz.

tensions between the u.s. and syria have been strained because a turkish cleric blamed for a coup last july has been here in the united states and turkey wants him extradited. and then the controversial bathroom bill that makes it illegal for transgenders to use bathrooms that do not match their gender at birth. that state could lose money because of the law. the state was not going to be able to host events like the nba all-star game and the ncaa basketball championship because of a protest of the law, and a vote on repealing it will happen this morning. and then killed in a hit-and-run and the family asking you to help find the

temperatures this morning. we have got 52 in the north bay to napa at about 58 degrees. and mid to upper 50s just about everywhere, except for city. san jose, cupertino, light rain is moving in, 56 to 63 degrees. look at the winds now. they are starting to pick up. the cold front is going through, and it's going to be a bumpy ride getting in and out of all of our airports today, especially sfo. yard work, look for all the pollen in the wind. cooler if you are going to be exercising. on the water, almost too windy for most activities. here's a look here, and rains made it to 280 and 17, and tree pollen, weed pollen, and sycamore once again.

good morning. it's thursday march 30th. thank you for joining us. we are all here, but natasha has the day off, though. >> she escaped to different weather than what we are having, so we will go down a bit on the temperature gauge, right? >> we have a little bit of rain this morning and that's what i will focus on, and i will show you how that's going to affect the rest of the day. here's a look at the south bay. the rain pushing through rather quickly, you have another hour to 45 minutes if you are lucky, and look how quickly it developed right around 3:30 and it's just sliding southward with a vengeance, being chased by a cold front. 50 to 55 this morning, and look at our temperatures at noon, 56 to 62, and only breezy all day.

we have the high wind advisories for the bridges, and now the metering lights is on for the golden gate bridge toll plaza, and that happened at 5:22 and that's a few minutes earlier than we have seen seeing on average, and then the south bay, the ones that are soggy right now, and overall we have nice and light volumes and no major blocking issues right now. we will look at drive times coming up next. developing news in the south bay, the santa clara county. >> matt keller has more. hi, matt. >> reporter: good morning, jessica. early election -- early voting has started for a special election in the city of campbell, and it's supposed to be on april 25th, and if you want to drop off your vote you can do that, and this comes after the registrar admitted there was a mistake in the

a meeting of the minds between san jose officials and the south bay's water agency over last month's flooding has eased tensions kind of. both sides met for three hours yesterday agreeing they share the same constituents and care about them, but the mayor remains adamant about evacuation that was ordered. >> if we do not acknowledge that the information was are going to repeat the debacle.
