security team to try to find information or intelligence to back up his assertion of wiretapping? >> um, i don't, i'm not aware of anything directly. would have to look into that. >> reporter: "the new york times" is reporting two white house officials gave nunes information president trump later said somewhat vindicated claims of illegal wiretapping. a claim widely disputed by intelligence officials. the white house did promise to share information with adam schiff ranking democrat on the intelligence committee. but. >> there its a cloud over the investigation. as a result of the way the materials were provided. >> reporter: two things remain unclear. are these documents that the white house is now providing the same documents that chairman nunes received. and who cleared him into the white house. lana zach, abc news, washington. lana, one concern for the president. and the trump administration has another one. its first serious test in the middle east. for the first time in decades,

israeli government approved a settlement in the west bank. last month president trump publicly asked israel to hold off on new settlements. the white house says israel will take the president's concerns into consideration in the future. southern california sheriff's deputy is under investigation after allegedly ignoring gunshots to make a stalking video for his now ex-girlfriend. youtube video shows l.a. county deputy, jeremy fettle speaking into the camera in his patrol car. at some point he gets a radio call regarding gunfire. fettle looks into the camera says, oh, well and just continues on. >> i know i got to go. i am not going to go. i'm not going to go. i'm being shy. >> deputy has a restraining order against him. accused of choking his ex-girlfriend in january. fennle on administrative leave since then. the deputy is the subject of two departmental investigations. the l.a. district attorney is also reviewing this case.

also out of california, some good news about the drought there. it comes with serious concerns. surveyors measured the sierra nevada snow pack near lake tahoe. nearly eight feet deep and higher elevations have more and that's good news because all the snow melts into water for drinking and irrigation. if it melts too fast. it could create flooding and areas saturated by winter storms. drought restrictions could be lifted in coming weeks. >> such a vast climate there in california that you see scenes like this. tumble weeds being blown around in southern california. it's still really dry there as you can see in some parts. one guy tried keeping the road open by beating the weeds with a shovel. high winds blowing through the area didn't do him any favors at all. but we appreciate the effort. >> a for effort. strong winds were a problem in las vegas area. at one point, 35,000 people were without power.

right now, about 1,500 feet off the ground. again, we can zoom in and see a car. a person. we can even read a license plate. even with all the technology, the job is far from easy. >> the most memorable rescue is flight instructor and student who had to ditch their aircraft in the hudson river in january. i remember it because it was, ice cold. the airplane had sunk. looking for head in the hudson river. think you would see that. you don't. we happened to see something orange. caught our eye. >> the lining of his jacket. >> yeah, yeah. >> very grateful he was wearing that jacket that day. >> he was. one of many missions eagin was part of. including being first on the scene when cory leitel crashed a small plane into a manhattan high rise. >> you see everything inside. the hole. it was gone. >> the incident most famous for, one where she saved lives and nearly lost her own. >> obama was coming in for u.n. general assembly. jamaica bay. just doing normal surveys and on

on russia. and the possible collusion with the trump administration. "the new york times" says, two white house officials, helped to give intelligence reports to congressman devin nunes. nunes briefed the president on the material that reportedly shows the trump team was incidentally caught up in surveillance. the white house refusing to say if it secretly fed the reports to nunes. but they're now inviting tom members of the house and senate intelligence committees to examine those documents. well, the u.s. is stepping up its fight against terror in africa. the white house deemed somalia active areas of hostility. that move allows the pentagon to go on the offensive. u.s. air strikes would assist the somali government and forces. the area of hostility lasts 180 days. interstate 85 one of the two main arteries through the heart of atlanta is closed after a

section collapsed during a massive fire last night. it happened just after evening rush hour. there is no word on what caused the fire, but terrorism is not suspected. and it is believed there were no deaths or injuries. police had already begun to turn motorists back, fearing there might be a collapse. and official say people should still stay away from that part of northeast atlanta. >> avoid the area if at all possible. we will be try to putting out alternative routes that people can take. but don't put anybody's life in jeopardy by getting in the way. >> well, the collapse caused gridlock on area highways and roads and more transportation problems as you can imagine are expected this morning. get this, it may be as much as two months we are told before the overpass is repaired. we are learning more about the deadly head-on crash between a church bus and a pickup truck outside san antonio, texas, all 13 people killed were between the ages of 61 and 87.

investigators say two separate law enforcement departments received calls about the pickup truck swerving on the road. the driver and passenger survived. survivors of this month's train/bus crash in biloxi, mississippi, filed lawsuits totaling $250 million. four people killed when a charter bus carrying senior citizens was hit by a freight train. the bus had become stuck at a crossing the scene of a number of wrecks. both the bus company and the freight company are named as defendants. the storm system plagued much of the country this week is moving to the east. heavy rain moving into the ohio valley. the mid-atlantic states. with snow in some parts of upstate new york and new england. severe thunderstorms are possible all the way down to florida. before leaving the south, the system created a waterspout on lake pontchartrain in louisiana. one of several spotted along the gulf coast. in the deep south today residents will be cleaning up from the strong storms that

knocked down trees and power lines and damaged buildings. as well as roadways. now, six people have died in this week's storms. and these aerial shots, show the scope of flooding in southeastern australia. that's the result of days of heavy rain after the cyclone there named debbie which came ashore this week. washed away parts of one bridge. 20,000 residents across the region have been ordered to evacuate. some cars were in undated by flash flooding. look at this scene. one was pulled out. this kid opening the door. letting the water flow out. the car then, rolled right back into the deep water. >> wow. >> you think it is totaled? >> yeah, safe bet to say you can't drive it now. thank gosh nobody was in there. >> exactly. >> water scares me in that way. here is the u.s. on a lighter note. national crayola crayon day. thank god for that. crayola, a big announcement

a weak tornado dam a weak tornado damaged a mobile home park in washington state. tipping over two trailers, one of them on to a car. thankfully no injuries. winds were estimated at 75 miles per minute while it was on the ground and covered about 100 yards. washington state averages two tornados a year. we're learning new details that are surfacing in that dramatic stand your ground case unfolding outside of tulsa, oklahoma.

russian measures, we're promoting them. >> the experts also accused russia of trying to influence elections in other countries, as well. president vladamir putin, responded from moscow dismissing the allegations as groundless. president trump meets today with former secretary of state condoleezza rice. this morning's meeting at the white house their second get-together since election day. rice did not support the president during the campaign. the two even traded some verbal barbs. no word on what is on the agenda. in the meantime, the president is predicting "a very difficult meeting with the leader of china." trump will host him for a visit at his florida resort beginning next thursday. among issues to be addressed, trade, north korea, territorial disputes in the south china sea. during the campaign, trump accused china of unfair trade practices. south korea's recently ousted president is an inmate. park guen-hye was arrested. entered detention facility just before dawn. while park is behind bars, prosecutors will charge her in
