heat things up indoors. gonzaga, south carolina, oregon, north carolina get ready for the final four. those are some of the top stories on this friday, march 31st. >> announcer: from abc news, this is "world news now." good friday morning to you, everyone. start the half-hour with breaking news and a stunning offer from the former national security adviser michael flynn. now willing to testify if he gets immunity. >> weeks after he was fired by president trump over his conversations with the russian official. flynn wants to talk to house and senate intelligence committees looking into russia's interference in the election. his attorney says, flynn certainly has a story to tell and very much wants to tell it. he is looking for assurances against what he calls unfair prosecution. house and senate panels haven't publicly responded to flynn's offer. one of those investigations remains stalled while a new

report says the man at the helm received intelligence material from two white house officials. >> this as senators heard gripping testimony rather about russian efforts to use information warfare to influence american politics. we get more now from abc's lana zach. >> the russians employed thousands of paid internet trolls and botnets to push out disinformation and fake news. >> reporter: republicans and democrats on the senate intelligence committee agreed that russia did try to interfere by planting fake news stories that hurt hillary clinton. the russian president is denying involvement, paraphrasing a former american president saying read my lips. >> no. >> reporter: claim disputed by marco rubio who says it is not true that russian hackers targeted former members of his campaign staff just in the last 24 hours. meanwhile, the white house won't say how house intelligence committee chair devin nunes received secret information or if it was at the direction of president trump. >> the president direct any one in the white house or national

security team to try to find information or intelligence to back up his assertion of wiretapping? >> um, i don't, i'm not aware of anything directly. would have to look into that. >> reporter: "the new york times" is reporting two white house officials gave nunes information president trump later said somewhat vindicated claims of illegal wiretapping. a claim widely disputed by intelligence officials. the white house did promise to share information with adam schiff ranking democrat on the intelligence committee. but. >> there its a cloud over the investigation. as a result of the way the materials were provided. >> reporter: two things remain unclear. are these documents that the white house is now providing the same documents that chairman nunes received. and who cleared him into the white house. lana zach, abc news, washington. lana, one concern for the president. and the trump administration has another one. its first serious test in the middle east. for the first time in decades,

israeli government approved a settlement in the west bank. last month president trump publicly asked israel to hold off on new settlements. the white house says israel will take the president's concerns into consideration in the future. southern california sheriff's deputy is under investigation after allegedly ignoring gunshots to make a stalking video for his now ex-girlfriend. youtube video shows l.a. county deputy, jeremy fettle speaking into the camera in his patrol car. at some point he gets a radio call regarding gunfire. fettle looks into the camera says, oh, well and just continues on. >> i know i got to go. i am not going to go. i'm not going to go. i'm being shy. >> deputy has a restraining order against him. accused of choking his ex-girlfriend in january. fennle on administrative leave since then. the deputy is the subject of two departmental investigations. the l.a. district attorney is also reviewing this case.

also out of california, some good news about the drought there. it comes with serious concerns. surveyors measured the sierra nevada snow pack near lake tahoe. nearly eight feet deep and higher elevations have more and that's good news because all the snow melts into water for drinking and irrigation. if it melts too fast. it could create flooding and areas saturated by winter storms. drought restrictions could be lifted in coming weeks. >> such a vast climate there in california that you see scenes like this. tumble weeds being blown around in southern california. it's still really dry there as you can see in some parts. one guy tried keeping the road open by beating the weeds with a shovel. high winds blowing through the area didn't do him any favors at all. but we appreciate the effort. >> a for effort. strong winds were a problem in las vegas area. at one point, 35,000 people were without power.

section collapsed during a massive fire last night. it happened just after evening rush hour. there is no word on what caused the fire, but terrorism is not suspected. and it is believed there were no deaths or injuries. police had already begun to turn motorists back, fearing there might be a collapse. and official say people should still stay away from that part of northeast atlanta. >> avoid the area if at all possible. we will be try to putting out alternative routes that people can take. but don't put anybody's life in jeopardy by getting in the way. >> well, the collapse caused gridlock on area highways and roads and more transportation problems as you can imagine are expected this morning. get this, it may be as much as two months we are told before the overpass is repaired. we are learning more about the deadly head-on crash between a church bus and a pickup truck outside san antonio, texas, all 13 people killed were between the ages of 61 and 87.

investigators say two separate law enforcement departments received calls about the pickup truck swerving on the road. the driver and passenger survived. survivors of this month's train/bus crash in biloxi, mississippi, filed lawsuits totaling $250 million. four people killed when a charter bus carrying senior citizens was hit by a freight train. the bus had become stuck at a crossing the scene of a number of wrecks. both the bus company and the freight company are named as defendants. the storm system plagued much of the country this week is moving to the east. heavy rain moving into the ohio valley. the mid-atlantic states. with snow in some parts of upstate new york and new england. severe thunderstorms are possible all the way down to florida. before leaving the south, the system created a waterspout on lake pontchartrain in louisiana. one of several spotted along the gulf coast. in the deep south today residents will be cleaning up from the strong storms that
