now from abc 7, live breaking news. thank you for joining us for breaking new. i'm kristen sze. i'm natasha. we are tracking an amber alert in mountain view. police are asking for help finding a missing four month old girl. >> this is madeline walton. live in mountain view with the circumstances. matt keller. >> reporter: chris, the mountain view police have been asking for this amber alert all morning ago, about a half our ago the chp finally gave it to thechlt they want to make sure that four month old madeline is doing okay. take a look at this photo. the young girl, four month old madeline wallen was taken by the man in this picture, her father,

45-year-old michael wallen. >> he has very sis tinktive tattoos across his torso so he sticks out like a sore thumb. >> reporter: this is a dmv picture of him. police say madeline's mother was staying at the residence inn when michael paid a visit. the two adults had an argument. madeline was sitting on michael's lap in the driver's seat of a blue 2007 nissan altima with paper plates like this one seen here and drove off. even though there's no custody agreement and michael is the father, mountain view police still consider this an abduction. >> the baby was originally in custody with the mother. she was trying to take her baby back, but madeline was taken without consent from the mother. >> reporter: madeline's mother was briefly dragged by the car. she's okay. the mother's adult son followed in another vehicle but lost sight of it after michael brake checked him, causing a collision. mountain view police have contacted the police department in patterson where michael is a resident. they also have a message for michael. >> we're asking if he's watching

this to please bring her back. we need to know she is okay and so does the mother. >> reporter: i just asked mountain view police if they have received tips from the public yet, and they say no, that hasn't happened yet. they're hoping this amber alert will lead to some tips from the public and they'll be able to bring madeline home. reporting live in mountain view, matt keller, "abc 7 news." thank you so much. and if you have been outside the past half hour, you might have seen this. smoke pouring into the sky in western marin county. this is a live look right now from sky 7. this is burning near a lake that's just west of kent field in san elselmo. we talked with marin county fire since people are asking about this. this tell us the water district has several controlled burns going on right now. they're trying to clear what is called coyote brush. marin county fire is monitoring the situation. they tell us it is under control and not to worry. happening in meringue ah

where the police department is evacuated and bomb skaud on scene. police say around 9:30 this morning a person dropped off three green alds at the department's front counter. that person found them cleaning a relative's home. police evacuated the building as a precaution and called in the bomb squad to secure them. no one has been hurt. we will send a push alert on the "abc 7 news" app as soon as the police department reopens. new details on a deadly shootout with police yesterday. neighbors are talking about a frightening experience as the gun battle played out and sharing cellphone video. abc 7 news reporter kate larsen live in napa with the latest. >> reporter: yes, there are reports that this all started as a fight between neighbors and, in fact, some people who live on this block tell me that they heard yelling yelled morning before the shootout between the suspect and police. in fact, there were actually bullet holes in a houls across the street and windows and near the door.

multiple gunshot pops heard on the cellphone video taken from inside a home on bueno street and linda vista avenue. law enforcement yelling for people to clear the street during a gun battle with a neighbor around 2:00 yesterday afternoon. >> i heard big volume of gun fire a little while later, and then there was just unbelievable amount of police -- >> reporter: don lan was home in this usually quiet neighborhood when deputies and police officers showed up. >> i was unnerved, didn't know what to expect. >> reporter: police arrived to reports the suspect was firing shots in the neighborhood. when they arrived the suspect was backing out of the driveway in this bullet-riddled honda civic. he shot at police and deputies fired back. the suspect crashed into a tree and died around the corner. >> seemed like a friendly guy to me. >> scared.

>> reporter: jennifer roach lives on the same block but was more concerned about her 10-year-old daughter who was locked down in school because of the shooting. >> it is hard because i was worried about her and we were in san francisco. so we were on our way back. >> the prinls pal said lock down, and so we had to get under the tables and we were really scared. >> reporter: avery roche is in fifth grade at west park elementary. she says she and four other students huddled under a table for an hour, unsure of where the shooter was. they wrote letters to home. >> to our parents because, like, what if we -- like if we died or something. >> reporter: and these neighbors are now home this morning, many of them couldn't be here and tell this morning or late last night. the napa county district attorney is in charge of this investigation, and yesterday there were a few officers who were hurt, minor injuries by shrapnel and glass. live in napa, kate larsen, "abc 7 news." thank you. police in east bay are searching

for the man who shot and killed a another in front of her children. devastated family members confirm the identity of the victim, this one, 29-year-old rashanda franklin. police are looking for 43-year-old lawyer dashawn mcbride from san pablo. he was captured on video walking away and driving off moments after shooting her. she was taking her young kids to school when she was cut off by him at a stop sign in richmond. the children were in the back seat and saw everything. >> if there's a wife or family member out there, you know him. you know where he's at. turn him in, because that could have been your child. >> witnesses say the two argued at the intersection of 29th and ream avenue before the shooting. a neighbor took franklin's children into a home until police got there. authorities say he drove away in a 2007 silver mercedes s 550 sedan with paper plates. new this morning, the wife of the orlando nightclub shooter

will leave bay area to face trial in florida. abc 7 news obtained court paperness which she agreed to stop fighting extradition. they were signed by noor salman and filed in federal court in oakland last night. she was arrested at her family's home in rodeo and has been held in jail since. she pleaded not guilty to charges of aiding her husband in planning last year's pulse nightclub massacre. 49 people died, making it the deadliest mass shooting in american history. developing news in the south bay where police are trying to figure out what led to a deadly crash in san jose. they say the man driving that white pickup truck was killed when he slammed into a sound wall around 3:45 a.m. this is intersection of moore park and cypress avenues. one neighbor says the crash was so loud he jumped out of bed. >> it made my blinds move. you could hear the whoosh of the car going by and then you hear a good echo of some type of collision, sounded like a

neighbor describd to me, like a dumpster, you know, kind of falling. >> well, that neighbor says there's a continuing issue with speeding cars in that neighborhood. no word on if speed was a factor in the crash. it does mark san jose's 13th fatal accident this year. we are expected to soon learn the identity of the person killed after a wrong-way head-on crash in free month. it happened near the done barton bridge toll plaza shortly before 10:30 last night. the driver of a mazda died. their car, as you see, was crush. the driver of a second car, a gmc suv, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. the accident called all west bound lanes for hours overnight. the chp cleared the scene before the morning rush. it is quiet outside right now, but we are on storm watch for thursday and friday. let's talk about our storm impact scale. what you should expect. we rank the storm, this one a moderate one. it is going to come in in two phases, one thursday night into

friday morning and another into friday evening. thursday will be the strongest one with heaviest rain and winds. we have a chance of lightning and thunder and small hail with friday's storm. first of all, we know it will be wet. i will show you all of that, the hour-by-hour look and how much rain to expect, but the high wind watch is something to think about tomorrow from 9:00 until 11:00 friday morning. while we're sleeping and trying to get to work, gusts could be coming 60 miles per hour, coming out of the south, at least 40 to 50 miles per hour meaning some downed trees, definitely debris on the road when driving around during that time. we will look at that storm and its influence on the weekend in a few minutes. mike, thanks a lot. hundreds of san francisco police officers vying for promotion to sergeant will now need to retake the tactical exercise exam. that's because of some inconsistencies during the scoring process. the president of the police union, or the officer's union tells the chronicle some people used in administering the test

president trump's chief strategist. the president has removed steve bannon from the national security council, reversing a controversial decision to give bannon access to the highest level meetings. a new memorandum about the council's composition was published in the federal register. the new memo restores the director of national intelligence and the joint chiefs of chairmen to the principles committee. developing news from maryland, this man is an air national guard pilot who safely parachuted out of his f-16 before it crashed this morning. the d.c. air national guard says he was participating in a training mission out of joint base andrews. he was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the plain hit the ground about 200 yards from homes. no one else was hurt. well, severe weather in atlanta causing damage, also flight cancellations and delays right now. the storm started hitting this morning. several counties in georgia had to close their schools today. the weather also affecting the masters.

the first round of the golf major set to begin there tomorrow, but of course the course is closed today. delta has cancelled at least 300 flights all morning and afternoon flights to atlanta from fso are delayed, a flight out of oakland, a flight out of san jose also delayed. meteorologist mike nicco has been tracking it all morning. how is it looking? >> pretty active. of course a ruled awakening for the folks in the deep south with, look at this, a couple of tornados, a funnel clould, flash flooding in atlanta, thunderstorm wind damage. and the masters about two-and-a-half to three hours east of atlanta in augusta, georgia, where some of the strongest storms are right now. all the way to charlotte. this entire area prime for severe thunderstorms and possible tornados from 3:00 in alabama to georgia and south carolina until 8:00. it will be a long day for those folks. >> thank you, mike. taking tech to the next level. the controversial move one company is asking their

into the clouds. we are going to have a little less sunshine today as you look from east bay hills. not quite as haze as yesterday. warm, dry, but that limited sunshine still will be in the same ballpark, back-to-back storms tomorrow and friday and dry sunday and a little warmer next week, probably not to the levels we're at today. here is a look at our area of low pressure. don't look very impressive. you don't see the twirling air mass. once it drops into the bottom of the trough it will spin up and gather moisture from the tropics and bring it to us. we'll have haelgty rain out of the system. upper 50s in santa rosa and san rafael. san jose already 70 degrees. where were we? 77 in san jose, one of our warm spots along with livermore and antioch. 73 in oakland, 76 in santa rosa, san francisco about 69. here is a look from mount tam el pass. you can see increasing clouds but dry temperatures this afternoon, 60s at coast, 70s for the rest of us. a mild even ianing with

temperatures in mid 50s to 60s. if you are going to the a's game it is a third of a four game set. 7:05 first pitch, 66 dropping to 60. we'll have the 12:35 pitch tomorrow. low to mid 50s, canopy of clouds keep us mild. 4:00 tomorrow morning, quiet. by the time 9:00, a little drizzle along the coast, a few light showers across north bay. and that will continue through the afternoon hours. and then from 4:00 to 7:00 you can see the back half of the evening commute. the yellow, the oranges, the reds show up. the steadier rain, the moderate to heavy rain and it continues for several hours. look, it is not until about 4:00 when it is finally in the south bay, and by the end of the commute tomorrow we should be pretty quiet other than the lingering shower -- i should say friday morning in the north bay. can you sequi et for a while and then the secondary push moves in until 11:00 friday faster moving, not as much rain but still plenty of rain. take a look at the winter storm watch.
