. >> good morning, bay area. >> good morning, it's april 8th, thank you so much for joining us. we start out to a wet start. we have a check of live doppler 7 with our meteorologist lisa argent. >> hi, here's a look at live doppler 7. you whether notice we are looking a at some of that green, into the sea of nevada. elsewhere, looking at the showers offshore that will continue to push through the bay area today. here's a look at the current numbers, it's 48 in nevada, 40 in santa rosa. a one on our stormy scale. so that means we will look for the rain. in fact, there won't be a lot. less than a quarter of an inch,

with the possibility of some thunderstorms with hail, low snow levels and when that rain pushes through later on this morning, we are looking at some gusty winds. so this morning, it's cold. we have a frost advisory in effect for tonight. look at the numbers anywhere from 7 to 12 and 10 degrees cooler than we were yesterday at this time. so grab the jacket the rain isn't over yet, in fact, we are looking at the possibility after the second half of the weekend dry. >> lisa, thank you. the storm made for a messy night throughout the bay area. this tree came down in the driveway on greenwood lane and ojai drive last night. no word if the downed tree caused any damage to that home. heavy rain padded the south bay overnight. this was the scene in san jose, drivers are reminded to slow down when it's raining and to avoid driving through standing what under the circumstances to reduce the rick of getting

stuck. inville w villejo, the person ho abandon their vehicle. the water wasn't too deep, it was obviously too much for this abandoned vehicle. no one was hurt. these april showers are causing headation for residents throughout the bay area. we have the details. >> reporter: a few strong sales swept through marin county causing minor flooding along some roads and highways n. sonoma county, storms caused challenges for drivers on highway 101 in petaluma, i talked with these people before they head out. they hope not to have the same issues. brian said he had to pull someone out of the ditch. >> i do it usually once a month or so. whenever there is rain, people on windy roads, take the corners too fast. keep the chain in the hookup. >> reporter: they were able to

get dinner during the storm. no umbrella tonight? >> no umbrella, we've taken a chance with hoods. >> reporter: in downtown petaluma, one resident says she's done with the rain. i know we need it, but i think we have enough. >> we're going to get our first up close look at homes damaged by landslides thursday. two slides hit five homes in the oakland hills. debris is still moving. three of the homes have been red tagged. a wall of mud four feet deep covered outside walls and a lot of it came inside as well. no injuries to report t. red cross is helping those affected families. sky 7 shows the damage done to a kfc in newark t. tree crashed down onto the restaurant. no one was hurt. the tree has been removed. it's actually now chopped up on the side of the building. yum brands has not announced how

long the kfc was closed. as we have rain today, cleanup is under way for high winds and damaged yachts on the bay. abc 7 news reporter katie younis has the story for us. >> reporter: this picture shows a sinking barge that now rests at the bottom of the bay. high winds took it down. the barge was in place for maintenance work on the transbay, too. it's owned by vortex marine construction in antioch. >> the drivers use as their base. they drive down to see metal pieces that attract erosion so it doesn't get corroded. >> reporter: the coast guard says the barge is still tethered to anchors, so they're not worried about it moving. booms are out there as fuel leaks we main a concern. gusts up to 60 miles per hour also pounded sail and power boats in place for a boat show if richmond. >> lines were snapping. it is absolutely chaos. and enough to mention it was

witnesses to find out what led up to the suit and whether it could be gang-related. no one else was hurt. the family of a missing center county woman is pleading for her safe return. yesterday they joined law enforcement for a news conference. a a 20-year-old was last seen leaving a friend's home march 30th. investigators have searched the home and that's where her truck and phone were discovered. >> we firmly believe in our hearts that valerie is alive and needs our help. ali, if you are hearing this, we have come together from right across the country. we love you. and are desperately doing everything we can to get you home safe again. >> the fbi is offering $5,000 to help find her. now to developing news out of sweden this morning, police have arrested a man in connection to a deadly the truck attack that killed four people

and injured 15 others. a hijacked beer truck slam into a crowd of pedestrians outside a stockholm shopping center yesterday. we have learned a swedish prosecutor has identified a person as a suspect of terrorist offenses by murder. of the 15 injured people, six have been released, but one child remains in the hospital. the washington post reports president trump's decision to order a strike on syria came after he had a strong emotional reaction to pictures of children killed in the chemical weapons attack. abc news reporter kenneth mokeen is on capitol hill with the questions president trump is facing. >> reporter: congress is asking what's next? 59 tomahawk cruise missiles launched from two u.s. war ships in the mediterranean, striking the syrian airbase. the president and his team at his mar-a lago skate giving the green light after the deadly chemical weapons attack. >> it choked out the lives of

we'll get a check of our meteorologist lisa ar gentgent coming up -- take a look at this, this shark washed up on shore, beach goers whipped out cell phones and shared photos of the shark on social media. these are some of the photos we found on instagram. this is all happening at pleasure point. we have more on the desperate attempt to get this shark back into the water. >> a rare shark dangerously close to the beach. the young adate male appeared near pleasure point. it was struggling and clearly distressed. it attracted a great crowd. >> of course, i'm going to come down here and check it out. >> reporter: onlookers stood helplessly watching. rescuers from the shark research foundation arrived on the scene and tried to help the shark, which was roughly eight-to-ten

the bay area, you can see the thunderstorms in the southern sierra. also we have still a winter storm warning in the mountains, you can see all of that snow, if you put it into motion, you notice we are still looking at some activity that will sweep through the bay area. temperatures are cold, 39 in santa rosa, it's 46 in napa, 52 in oakland, 48 in san jose. maybe some breezy winds, low snow levels. >> that means the bulk of the activity will be in the morning, after the noon hour, things will settle down. a chance of thunderstorms. rainfall less than a quarter of an inch. most of that will fall on the north bay t. coastal hills and we'll talk about those snow levels once again anywhere 10 to 15 degrees this morning. when that cold sector, definitely a chilly weekend. the second half looks dry, today we're looking at the showers, cool temperatures, mainly in the

pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and other charges. police say she injected her client with heroin on board his yacht. when he started to overdose, she stepped over his body and left. they ruled her convictions were ground for deportation back to her native canada. she is currently being held by immigration acts and will be deported as soon as immigration officials make file arrangements. over a dozen churches in oakland come together to help those displaced by last week's fatal fire in west oakland. four people died in that fire. the survivors who are living at that three story apartment building lost everything they have. pachtor debra avery and reverend joseph simmons are leading the effort to help them. >> what happens after the immediate part of the emergency is that everyone is concerned about where are they going to stay tonight and where are they going to eat tonight and down the line, all of those urgencys fade away.
