live where you live, this is abc 7 news. >> you know, for us, susie, the truck was like a personal friend. >> tonight an east bay nonprofit is missing an essential truck, the vehicle used to deliver food to the poor. have you seen it? good evening. i'm eric thomas. we'll get to that story in just a minute. but first, you probably noticed the rain today. it came down across the bay area, making outdoor activities quite a challenge. you can see the umbrellas out in santa rosa. in san francisco it was a soggy easter sunday for giants fans at at&t park. they were able to finish the game, but many fans decided to head home to get out of the rain. and across the bay, while the wet weather did not matter for dubs fans, a's fans didn't get to see the their team. the rain canceled the rain. from the richmond bridge camera, it is still wet out there tonight. and there is more rain on the

a. the app is free to download at the app store and google play. >> well, there is an urgent plea tonight to return a piece of stolen property that makes life a little easier for disadvantaged in the east bay. this truck is an essential tool in delivering food to the needy in contra costa county. and tonight it is missing. abc 7 news reporter lilian kim is live at the white pony express in pleasant hill with our story. lillian? >> reporter: eric, the stolen truck is similar to this one. these vehicles are so critical to the work being done here that each solve them have been given a name. they call her suzy. and almost every day the refrigerated truck picked up and delivered food throughout contra costa county. but some time between saturday evening and sunday morning, someone stole her, right from the parking lot of white upon any express, the nonprofit known for its food rescue program. >> for us suzy the truck was like a personal friend. so we hate the loss. she was our very first refrigerated vehicle. >> reporter: white pony express

is a relatively new organization. it was found lead and a half years ago. and since then, it's picked up 4.5 million pounds of surplus food from restaurants and grocery stores. workers then deliver them to those who need it most. this is suzy in action at a food and clothing giveaway at a san pablo school recently. not having her in the fleet is going to create some major juggling for the more than 400 vol tire, we have a logistics team that will be plugging things where suzy would have done something, we'll find a way around that. we're pretty flexible and creative about that. but that's a temporary fix. that's not a permanent fix. >> reporte >> replacing suzy will cost around $75,000, money white pony express doesn't have. but they're hoping it's located. >> we're hoping somebody went for a joyride. >> anyone who has seen it is asked to call. lilian kim, abc 7 news. a young woman died after

falling from a balcony just blocks. it happened at dwight way and college avenue. the 21-year-old woman from elk grove likely fell from a third story balcony. she was breathing but unconscious when first spoernsd first arrived. she died at the hospital. she is a student at cal, active in a sorority. a witness tells abc 7 news it appears to be an accident. police are investigating. developing news from cleveland now where there is an urgent manhunt for a homicide suspect who stalked a man and shot him dead on the street. the entire incident was streamed on facebook. but tonight facebook says the video was uploaded after the killing. ryan burrow is in cleveland with the latest. >> i'm going kill this guy right here. >> this senseless murder too gruesome to show. a man identified by police as steve stephens gets out of his car and stops an apparent stranger. >> hi. can you do me a favor? can you say joy lane? >> joy lane?

>> yeah. she is the reason why this might happen to you. how old are you? >> oh, man, i don't know nobody -- >> then shooting him point-blank with a pistol, the cold-blooded killing broadcast on facebook. >> from what we can tell now it's just a random person that he picked out. well don't know why. >> the shooter then gets back into his vehicle and calmly drives off. and just as chilling, the suspect's claim to have killed many others. the victim has been identified as 74-year-old robert godwin sr. his family is in shock. >> i don't know what i'm going to do. it's not real. >> so far no additional victims have been found. stephens was last seen in a white ford fusion with temporary tags wearing a dark blue and gray or black striped polo shirt. he is 6'1", 244 pounds. >> we want him to turn himself in. we'll look until we find him. >> in a statement to abc news, facebook says this is a horrific

crime. and we do not allow this kind of content on facebook. ryan burrow, abc news, cleveland. now to developing news in the continuing tensions between the united states and north korea. vice president mike pence says the era of strategic patience is over. he gave that statement after arriving at the u.n. military post near the demilitarized zone separating north and south korea. the vice president is meeting with american troops stationed in south korea as part of a ten-day tour of asia. he says he is hopeful china will pressure the north to abandon its ballistic missiles. he called the failed missile launch today a provocation and said the u.s. and its allies will use whatever means necessary to protect south korea and stabilize the region. berkeley police say they may arrest more people after yesterday's violent confrontation between groups in support and in opposition to president trump. berkeley police say they arrested 23 people on saturday, seven of them now face felony charges. the protest began at civic

center park as heated but nonviolent. the violence grew as people streamed from the park on to city streets. 11 people were injured. a spokesperson for bartels abc 7 news that service will be back to normal tomorrow after a serious electrical issue. on friday commuters faced big delays between martinez and pittsburg bay point station. it only affected longer trains. some commuters complained of a burning smell. bart still doesn't know what caused this problem. a north carolina mother and daughter are visiting san francisco are relieved tonight after police reunited them with their loved ones' stolen ashes. tonight police say they have a person of interest, but they have not made an arrest. abc 7 news reporter melanie woodrow spoke with both mother and daughter today and has the report. >> there is no words to describe the joy and the overwhelming love i have in my heart for having him in my hands and having him back with us.

>> julia wilkinson is clutching her father's ashes after losing him a second time. joe wilkinson died from a heart attack nearly eight months ago. wednesday julie and her mom arrived in san francisco, one of joe's favorite cities. they planned to spread his ashes. but this the time they parked in a fisherman's wharf garage waiting for their room to be ready, someone broke into their rental car trunk, stealing a wallet, a suitcase and joe's remains. >> that's a person. it's like robbing a grave. >> they called police. dispatchers told them to fill out an online report. even they have explained what was stolen. they then called reporters. after we contacted sfpd thursday, officers met with the women at the garage to conduct a thorough investigation. saturday julia says they received the call. >> they told us that someone had turned him in to one of the undercover officers. >> the family is deeply grateful and hopeful their story might

you've been on courtside before, right? no. >> oh, wow. the last time he was this close to his favorite player, steph curry, he had both his legs. chris formaker was diagnosed with bone cancer a few years ago and had his femur removed. my colleague lyanne melendez recently profiled him and the surgical procedure called rotationplasty. you'll notice his foot has been rotated and reattached to what is left of his upper leg. >> it acts totally as a knee. the amazing thing is the muscles of the calf which become the front muscles of the thigh are more or less in tune with working at the rite time. they have to adapt a little bit. >> when he arrived at oracle arena he was quickly escorted through the crowds and down to the court. watching curry warm up before the game was spectacular, but he already met his favorite player a couple years. >> i went to a practice in 2015 for the warriors. and steph curry gave me jersey

some planet fitness locations are giving way free tax week massages through saturday. california's senior senator will hold her first town hall since president trump took office. senator dianne feinstein will take questions tomorrow at san francisco's scottish rite masonic center. the event is free be, you do have to have a ticket and they're all taken at this point. feinstein will be in the valley for a fireside chat. president trump celebrated easter by attending church of bethesda by the sea, an episcopal church in palm beach. he attended with first lady melania, his parents and her two younger children. mr. trump and the first lady are set to host the official annual easter egg roll at the white house tomorrow. back here, neither rain nor chilly weather kept kids of redwood shores of taking part in they scoured marlin part for easter eggs during this easter

egg hunt. kids of all ages ran around the park looking for hidden good east. it turned into serious business for some youngsters who eagerly showed off their haul. >> five, six, seven, eight, nine. >> that's 5-year-old caleb, who is excited about the 19 eggs he brought home. in addition to finding them, caleb says he likes to decorate eggs to celebrate the holiday. you your accuweather forecast with drew tuma. >> the showers are winding down, but the clouds will stay in place the next 24 hours. and shortly more rain will fall tomorrow. live doppler 7 showing early active picture earlier this afternoon. tonight we're tracking the exit of the storm system. but what is falling in place now is a little bit of fog. live doppler 7 will get you down into the north bay. this is visibility in miles. ten is absolutely perfection. but when you get to napa, it's down to four miles.

i do expect there will be some areas of patchy fog for your monday morning commute. extra time likely not a bad idea tomorrow morning. outside we go. live look from our emeryville camera. it has been a cloudy day, and that continues tonight. you can see the low clouds hovering over the lights of the east bay. and the clouds will greet you first thing tomorrow morning. rainfall fell just as we would expect. but this light storm moving through pretty close to a quarter of an inch in most spots, if not less than less than that. san jose coming in shy of a quarter inch. san francisco just over a tenth of an inch. oakland coming in close to a quarter inch. fairfield just slightly over that. out there right now, numbers all day have not budged all that much, thanks to the cloud cover and the limited sunshine. it's actually mild right now so to speak in oakland. you're sitting at 60 degrees as we approach midnight. 58 in san francisco. 57 in san jose and 56 the current number in napa. overnight tonight we'll have the clouds in place, and we'll settle on either side of 50

degrees. so upper 40s to lower 50s will be your starting temperatures on your monday. live doppler 7 along with satellite. here sour current storm system exiting the region. but right behind it, there is another one that will quickly follow. and that's going to keep the clouds in place for your monday. we'll break down your monday planner. showers will be out of here. however, the road also still be damp with overcast skies first thing. by noon and there on it is warmer afternoon with temperatures getting into the 60s. the storm impact scale will be around tomorrow. it's a light system on your monday evening into tuesday morning. light showers moving through less than a quarter of an inch of rainfall. and light winds associated with it. so hour-by-hour we good on future weather. monday afternoon 2:00. watch the stamp in the corner of your screen. it's a lot of cloud cover out there. likely the showers do not arrive until after sunset. and probably close to 10:00 monday night. that's when we expect the drops to fall.

food to the needy. the truck was taken from the charity's parking lot some time between last night and this morning. in cleveland, police are searching for man who shot and killed a stranger on the street and then posted the entire killing on facebook. police now say the murder was not streamed live. the victim is identified as 74-year-old robert goodwin sr. stephens claims he has killed others as well. vice president pence is about to give a statement. this is in seoul and it comes one day after north korea's failed missile test. the vice president on a ten-day tour of asia. >> my warmest welcome -- >> earlier he said the era of strategic patience with the north is over and the u.s. will use whatever means necessary to protect the region. abc news correspondent martha

cabinets. they received a tip and raided the apartment where they made the discovery. investigators are not sure how the money got there and who the rightful owner is. they're offering a reward between 2.5 and 5% of the seized money to anyone with information. tonight new technology could save swimmers' lives. drones acting as a lifeguards spotting sharks and swimmers in distress. marci gonzalez has the story. >> this surfer recovering tonight. surgeons amputating part of his leg after witnesses say a 12-foot shark attacked him off the coast of hawaii friday. >> he caught white water and is yelling for help. once i saw the blood trail, i called 911. >> that same day another surfer's leg bitten by a shark in florida, the fifth attack in that state in just the past week. now researchers are testing a new high-tech method to warn beachgoers when sharks are swimming nearby. the system in australia use as drone with an attached camera that not only sends back a live

view of what's below, but distinguishes sharks from other marine life. >> we believe it's something that will give us the capability of seeing sharks a lot more readily. >> officials in seal beach, california already use similar technology, launching from the shore, quickly confirming shark sightings instead of the old method of scouring the cote on wave runners which used to take hours. >> the great advantage of this is i can launch this, fly over the whole area and land it all in about ten minutes. >> but australia's new system takes it another step further, using an on board mega phone to alert beachgoers immediately. >> we think should it be rolled out worldwide. >> marci gonzalez, abc news, los angeles. a couple claims they were mistreated on another flight. michael hull and his fiancee were on their way to get married in costa rica when they were kicked off the plane before takeoff in houston. hull says someone was laying

now to the easter homecoming for a military family. what dad did to make sure his kids would never forget this moment. abc news reporter gloria riviera has our story. >> it took staff sergeant matthew 27 hours, five flights and more to get from afghanistan to nebraska and the cornhuskers locker room. for most life-long husker fans, just suggesting up would be a life-long dream. for hawk it is that and so much more. >> he is in the middle of a really exciting event. and we just get to be a part of it. we're thankful of, that matthew. >> this was the last leg, from the battlefield to the football field, where matt, disguised as a husker at the invitation of the team is about to surprise his wife nicole and six kids. his family, also huge husker fans are there as honorary team captains. they have no idea dad is back early from a ten-month deployment. but when hawk takes off his helmet just as his son riley is about to do the coin toss, this
