a surprise statement from british prime minister theresa may this morning announcing she will seek early elections in two months. it is stunning the uk. she made the announcement in the last hour. in the wake of the historic brexit vote, the prime minister asking parliament to vote this wednesday on the plan if it goes through the uk general election would be pushed to june 8th. that would be less than halfway through our government's term. she says the government is not coming together. she is accusing opponents of undermining brexit talks. two drifters scheduled to be sentenced in the murder of two hikers. he admitted to killing the two in 2015 and now faces 100 years to life.

a third defendant agreed to be a witness against the two in exchange for immunity and a 15-year sentence. developing news in sonoma county. deputies are warning runners to be on the lookout after a man attacked a woman on a popular trail. >> the woman got away. neighbors and authorities want to get the word out. >> i was >> reporter: sonoma residents felt come field to warn others following a sunday afternoon attack. >> i saw single woman running and walking on the trail by themselves and i wanted to make sure it wasn't going to happen to somebody else. >> reporter: the sergeant says a 24-year-old woman ran the trail around 1:15. >> he yelled at her and pushed her and landed on top of her and tried to sexually assault her.

to a car which police found stolen property and marijuana. the state assembly expected to vote on a controversial bill that will end bail in california. the bill would allow people to be released at no cost while they await trail. supporters say this will create a fair system while the poor won't be held in jail and wealthy people buy their way to freedom. opponents say there will be an increase in crime. a family is mourning the loss of their dog after a mountain lion snuck into their home. they live in a rural area. monday the family left a door open for fresh air while they were sleeping and the mountain lion snuck in and grabbed the dog. >> she did her attack barking. very vicious attack sound that

she does when she's not liking something and she instantly was silent. >> if game wardens track down the mountain lion they can move it elsewhere so it doesn't return. we're following the news in the death of a berkeley couple. they were found dead in their apartment in january. they had high levels of carbon monoxide in their blood. the source of that gas is a mystery. the mother is suing the landlords. she claims they violated buildings regulation by not installing a carbon monoxide detect detector. a man says and his friends were in line when they got in an argument with security and they were asked to leave. he left and decided to return to his apartment which was in the same direction. he says an officer stopped him, slammed his face into the ground

and punched him until he was out cold. the school released a statement saying the allegations appear to vary from our understanding of the facts. we're continuing to review the matter and will respond appropriately in court. officials expected to announce how much fare jumpers are costing the agency. bart will hire six inspectors next year. the agency plans to spend 2 million to raise turn styles. bart says magnets will be the answer to a mysterious problem that caused delays in the system last week. bart is buying powerful magnets that will pick up metallic dust. it's that dust that played a role in power surges that knocked out 22 cars in the east bay on friday. that dust is from the grinding of the rails and can conduct

electricity. the magnets are expected to be in service in a month. one of san famous park will reopen may 24th. the park is undergoing upgrades. heavy rains delayed the work and pushed back the opening date. the park has been closed since last month. let's talk about what's going on temperature wise this morning. we'll start inland. some of the earliest commuters where it's 54 right now. about 53 to 55 for the rest of neighbors. the cool spot's at 52. most of us are in mid 50s. in the hills 47. almost as mild as yesterday. here is a look at the moisture that's still coming down. just about everything wet this morning. tree pollen will be moderate.

developing news in the nationwide search for the shooter who killed a man and posted it on facebook. a $50,000 reward is being offered to find this mon. steve stephens is seen getting out of his car on sunday and

zero tolerance policy for violence. we were talking about how we're getting off to a wet and gloomy start this week, but it's going to get better, right? >> lots of sunshine and warmth. we've got to wait until about friday for that to happen, but the weekend is going to be opposite than what we just lived through. good morning. we're in the south bay. .12 inches of rain fell. we're going to have some drizzle to light rain this morning. an isolated shower this afternoon. we'll get a break tomorrow and tomorrow evening through thursday morning our last push of wet weather. you can see the more organized weather is sliding to the south away from us. here is a look at the sunshine. when that sun's energy hits that wet ground, that's going to spark a few scattered showers through the afternoon. we'll keep the storm impact scale going although the rain is over. light rain to showers today. most of us, nothing.

possibly .15 and wind will remain light. nothing damaging. from 7:00 to 9:00 you can see any steady rain becomes more shower like and towards noon that becomes less likely and clouds opening for sunshine and you can see as we head into the afternoon hours a few stray showers out there, but going to see more sunshine. now let's jump ahead to wednesday evening at 5:00. all is clear through the evening commute. 7:00 to 8:00 you can see light to moderate showers moving into the north bay. they'll slide into the south bay for the morning commute and they fall apart by 8:00. increasing sunshine thursday. temperatures hovering. 60 at the coast and 70 for the rest of us. look at those mid to upper 70s friday.

welcome back. i'm tracking new developments out of arkansas this morning. state officials say they are determined to carry out a double execution this week despite a last minute setback handed down

by the u.s. supreme court. the court blocked the execution of don davis, a convicted murderer, minutes before his execution last night. arkansas is hoping to execute eight inmates by april 30th. that's when one of the drugs used in its lethal cocktails expires. the state's attorney general says they will go through with those two executions scheduled for thursday. back to you. >> thank you. a police pursuit in oklahoma ended up in a fistfight between the officer and the suspect. police pulled back from the chase because of safety concerns. when the pickup they were after hit speeds of 80 miles an hour. obviously it end. the suspect slows down and parks in a neighborhood and this happens. they got out and walked down the street. the officer confronted him. the two started punching and kicking each other before the officer tackled the man to the ground. the suspect in jail with charges of felony assault and battery on a police officer.
