filed a lawsuit last month saying he assaulted her and the university tried to cover it up. nearly 21,000 people have signed the petition saying the university knew at least three other students made sexual misconduct allegations. the professor has been removed for the semester while the school investigates. santa rosa firefighters are suing the city saying they've been cheated out of overtime. they say the city is miscalculating overtime pay. they want to regain losses for the past three years. the lawsuit could cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. the two sides start mediation last week and have another session on may 9th. new details this morning on a bill that would ban smoking on state beaches and the bill is in the suspense file. it will decide which bills will be voted on.

the eastbound is the lighter side. the westbound is heavy right here. that is starting to ramp up. it sounds like we have a minor crash there as well as. >> thank you. facebook's annual developers conference is outgrowing san francisco. this morning will be kicking off in san jose. >> it's a big deal. we expect to hear some recent controversies the company has gone through. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning. if you want to do big, really big, apparently you have to come here to san jose. this developer's conference at the convention center is going to be really big. 4,000 developers are expected for the two-day event. the san francisco venue could only hold 2,700 people so they moved it here. that gives the city bragging rights. apple's worldwide annual conference is moving to san jose this year from san francisco. >> facebook, apple, many of the

great conventions are happening here and many of the great companies that are increasingly expanding here are demonstrating that san jose continues to be at the epicenter of silicon valley. >> reporter: what's expected at the facebook developers' conference here. mark zuckerberg will give updates on message, instagram, facebook for work and all the rest of the portfolio key note address and he touched on some of the controversies like the video of a murder that was uploaded and fake news. the conference starts at 10:00 a.m. >> thank you. happening today, two drifters scheduled to be sentenced in the murders of a tourist and hiker. the two men are expected in court this morning. lampley admitted killing the two

in 2015 and faces 100 years to life. a third defendant agreed to be a witness against the two in exchange for immunity and a 15 year sentence. patrols have been increased at a trail as sheriff's continue to look for a man who sexually assaulted a jogger. >> this happened on sunday afternoon. the 24-year-old victim told police the man tackled her, punched her and reached inside her clothing. she was able to fight him off and call for help. another woman posted signs warning of the attack. >> i saw single woman running by themselves and i wanted to make sure it wasn't going to happen. >> this is a safe city so it's out of character, but we're suggesting to take precautions. >> the victim described the suspect as white, in his 50s with a bushy beard and homeless appearance. anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office.

a high school teacher arrested this month is in trouble again. the 23-year-old woman turned herself into police yesterday on charges with having sex with an underage student. she was arrested earlier this month for allowing the same student access to a car which police found stolen property and marijuana. the state assembly expected to vote on a controversial bill that will end bail as we know it in california. the bill would allow people to be released at no cost while they're awaiting trial. supporters say this would create a more fair system that way people who don't have money won't be held in jail and wealthy people are allowed to buy their way to freedom. opponents say there will be an increase in crime. a family is mourning the loss of their dog after a mountain lion snuck into their home. tey live in a rural area. early monday morning the family

left a door open for fresh air while they were sleeping when a mountain lion slipped in and snatched the family's 15 pound dog. >> she did her attack very vicious attack sound that she does when she's not liking something and then she instantly was silent. >> if game wardens track down the mountain lion, they can capture it and move it elsewhere so it doesn't return. we're following news in the death of a young berkeley couple. the couple were found dead in their apartment in january. autopsy reports show they had high levels of carbon monoxide in their blood. the source of that gas though is still a mystery. a mother is suing the landlords claiming they violated building regulations by not installing a carbon monoxide detector in the unit. a student suing the school

after he claimed police beat him unconsciousness. he and his friends were in line for an event. one friend got in an argument with security. they were asked to leave. he did leave, but decided to return to his apartment which was in the same direction. an officer stopped him, slammed his face in the ground and punched him. the school released a statement saying the allegations vary from our understanding of the facts or department policies. we're reviewing the matter. bart officials expected to announce how much fare jumpers are hurting the agency. bart will hire six full time inspectors to look for cheaters. the agency plans to spend $2 million to raise the height of the turn styles. the board of directors is going to meet this afternoon.

bart says magnets are the answer to problems that caused delays last week. our immediate partner reports bart is going to buy magnets pick up dust that knocked out 22 cars on friday. the dust is from the grinding of the rails. it can conduct electricity. the magnets are expected to be in service in a month. one of san francisco's most famous spots is set to reopen following $4 million in improvements. the park will reopen on may 24th. the park is going upgrades. heavy rains delayed the work and pushed back the opening date. the park's been closed since last may. after being left out in the rain yesterday morning, the peninsula got some rain yesterday evening and 51 right now.

temperature 43 in santa rosa. we've got one more storm that comes in tomorrow night and lingers through thursday. i'll give you an hour by hour look at that and how it will effect those two days next. we have a problem in the maze right now. we've got this one in view here. this is the westbound 580. as you can see no one getting by at the moment. this was a solo vehicle crash. someone lost control and hit that center divide and the car caught fire. i have not seen any flames or smoke either. they're holding traffic temporarily. hopefully this will not be long term. i want to show you a bit of a backup starting to form on westbound 580. i think the majority of foklks o westbound, but eastbound will have to sit there. the eastbound side we had a crash on the toll plaza.

37-year-old steve stephens is seen getting out of his car in cleveland and approaching the victim before he shoots him. police say there is no reason for why this happened. former dallas police chief david brown spoke about the current search. >> we are combing all of the technology he might use beyond cell phones, social media might be a lead that might develop as well as family and friends because it's highly suggestive that he's getting help in order to be able to disappear off the radar like this. >> a cell phone ping and reported sightings in pennsylvania suggests stephens may have left ohio. anyone who may be helping to hide stephens is going to face charges. vice president mike pence is in japan to begin a dialogue with tokyo. tensions with north korea continue to command center stage. north korean officials remain

the winds will remain light today. from 7:00 to 9:00 you can see the fading nature of the green signifying the light rain that's possible. at noon you can see a few showers out there. that will fade by 7:00. storm impact scale for wednesday night into thursday, is a one. it will move into the north bay about 9:00 tomorrow evening and exit the south bay at about 7:00 in the morning. temperatures are steady the next three days. near to 80 through the weekend. i want to maze here. i have good news. we had a full closure of the westbound 580. that was a solo vehicle spin out crash. it turned into a car fire and they were able to clear that. it looks like we have one more emergency vehicle coming

through. that could be the ambulance. it sounds like there were minor injuries. cars are getting through once again. the delays that we're seeing should be cleared out quickly. we're already seeing them change from red to yellow. if you are heading up towards berkeley or the bay bridge you shouldn't have too many delays. drive times here. westbound 580, 41 minutes. southbound 101 you're in the yellow at 19 minutes. >> thanks. a 73-year-old driver in freemont was attacked by a group of bicyclists after the man's car hit one of them. it happened at about 8:45 at night. the car was going ten miles an hour when it hit the cyclist who was part of a large group. the driver drove to maddis elementary. the driver was punched three

the bay area bridges you're in luck. here is a live look at the golden gate. shaping up to be another wet commute for us. we'll have more in a few minutes. a police pursuit in oklahoma ended up in a fistfight between the officer and suspect. it starts like this. a chase. policed to back off that chase because the pickup truck was going so fast, about 80 miles an hour. when it slowed down and parked in this neighborhood, that's when it got weird. you see this, right? the officer confronts the man. there's a kick and there's a bunch of punches thrown. finally the officer is able to take that suspect to the ground. that suspect now in jail charged with felony assault and battery on a police officer. uber might end up having to add a tipping feature to its

app. there is a proposal to require car services that use only credit cards to allow passengers to tip using a card. if uber adds tipping in new york it's likely to expand that feature to the rest of the u.s. law fi let's look at how much rain we've received since sunday. yesterday we hadn't had any and now we have .1 out of this last storm. oakland about .5. about a .25 in mountain view. look at that. you can see the wet this morning. temperatures are close to average from mid 60s to 70 degrees and a look at tonight's game which i do not expect to get delayed.
