and there is new information about the evidence at the justice department presented in order to get a warrant to wiretap former trump adviser carter page. abc news learned that the evidence included intercepts picked up by the british of trump aides speaking with known russian spies. it also included that congressional dossier prepared by political operatives which included unsubstantiated allegations of direct involvement by trump campaign aide in the hacking of the democratic party. vice president mike pence warning north korea not to test the resolve of the u.s. military. >> pence addressed troops aboard "uss ronald reagan" in japan. vowing that any attack would be met by an overwhelming american response. abc's matt gutman in the region. >> reporter: in japan, mike pence touring a buddhist temple also trying to reassure america's allies about the north korean nuclear threat.

here. matt gutman, abc news, seoul, south korea. investigators say a triple murder in fresno, california, was solely based on race. kori ali muhammad charged in yesterday's shootings, all the victims white men. muhammad told them he wanted to kill as many white people as possible. he shouted an arabic phrase when arrested, raising thoughts of terrorism. however police insist the killings were racially motivated. also charged in a fourth murder last week. an autopsy is planned today for the suspect in a so-called facebook killing. police in erie, pennsylvania, say steve stechbz killed himself after being chased by troopers. they caught up with him two days after authorities in ohio say stephens killed a great grandfather at random, then posted the video of the murder on line. stephen was captured after investigators received a tip from workers at a mcdonald's. they tried to delay his order

until help arrived. police haven't said yet if the workers will get $50,000 in the reward in this case. the ncaa ended its boycott of the state of north carolina. the change nearly three weeks after the state repealed parted of hb 2, so-called bathroom bill that affected lgbt protections. ncaa canceled championship events scheduled in north carolina after the measure was passed. including the men's basketball tournament. now, to some tennis. anyone who watched a match has heard the players, grunting, groaning, sound, you know what it might sound like, i guess, you know? >> that gets us to a match in sarasota, florida. the players were there, playing, there was some other playing that was going on as well. and everyone got quite an earful. >> what is going on? >> it can't be that good! >> it can't be that good.

understandable. calling insensitive e-mail to boston marathon finishers. the e-mail subject line read, congrats you survived the boston marathon. of course it prompted widespread outrage four years after the deadly bombing of the race. in its apology, adidas said clearly no thought given to the e-mail wording. speaking of pr nightmares. united airlines remains in damage control following the flight fiasco, the doctor pulled off the flight there. but united ceo oscar munoz says no one has been fired over the incident. and that there was never consideration of firing anyone. munoz calls the whole thing a system failure and he says united is changing policies to make sure it never happens again. family members are still hopeful searchers will find a woman and her step grandson who went missing in the grand canyon. >> the 62-year-old woman and the 14-year-old boy lost their

footing in a rugged area, while hiking with relatives last week. with more on the search. >> reporter: the search on for jackson standdeffer and grandmother, louann meryl. >> this particular kind of incident is extremely rare. >> reporter: they were hiking the grand canyon with family and friends saturday when a family member says as the group was crossing this creek four people, including jackson's mother fell in. the 14-year-old and grandmother were swept away by fast moving water. the other two were rescued. >> the two people would be washed away in a creek crossing is something that is -- almost unheard of in our local memory. >> reporter: 14-year-old jackson we are told is a swimmer. and 62-year-old lou ann meryl. >> randy meryl had an idea. >> reporter: married to the ceo of popular hiking boot company merrell and is said to be experienced hiker who knows the area well.

>> both were reported to have food and water in their backpacks. >> reporter: on facebook, jackson's uncle posting, writing, the outlook is not promising there is still a glimmer of hope. we will hold on to this hope until there is reason not to. authorities say that both hikers are equipped and have the knowledge to survive. this happened in an area of the grand canyon so remote, some places cannot be accessed by foot. so search crews are using boats, helicopters, and drones to find them. we move on now to a new health headline. about drugs that reduce possibility of a heart attack. about 39 million americans take cholesterol fighting statins, researchers say they can lower the chance of a heart attack by 36% for those at risk. but a new study claims many more people should possibly be taking them. it suggests anywhere from 17 to 26 million americans should be on statins based on guidelines. that would mean nearly half of americans between ages of 40-75 would be taking a statin.

affects the lungs is very treatable if people have access to care. first question, everyone asked, what is it going to cost? evidently if you are flying a bomb into a village. money is no object. delivering life saving medicines, suddenly have to do it for practically nothing. >> reporter: 25,000 to be exact. people here have died of tuberculosis before. they're now two known cases and five more suspected cases. the villagers gather so the health team can explain they will be carrying out tests and training. while a tent is set up as a make shift doctor's office to collect saliva samples. 16-year-old maurice young is one of the suspected tb cases. he has chest pain and -- after that, there is a blood that comes out. when he coughs. >> see if he can bring something deep into his lungs and spit it in the tube. i don't see blood in the specimen. this is not a there mall thing for some one to cough up.

this has me worried. >> reporter: back at the lab, the doctor studies the sample for signs of tuberculosis. >> there is no clinician that could sit in the village and tell you definitively if the people have tb or not. it absolutely requires a laboratory test. >> reporter: after more tests he find that thankfully neither the 16-year-old or parents have tb. >> truth of the matter when you speak to government officials they recognize the technology. there is a lot of excitement and lot of eagerness to start using this technology here, but it is not going to, happen overnight. >> the excitement for all involved so obvious, so contagious, this potential revolution. is far more than a flight of fancy. for "nightline," alex marquardt, in madagascar. drones are becoming so ubiquitous. used for so many things. >> they are. not just there in madagascar, they're trying to do this. i know they're trying to do it in rwanda to get medicine and aid to the 11 million people who

walked up to a pg&e truck on north vanness, allegedly shooting the passenger. and then a few seconds later he shot and missed some one, turning on fulton street, firing and killing another man. police say he reloaded at a bus stop, shooting two people and killing one. the rampage ending when police apprehended mohammad, hand cuffing him and searching his pockets before taking him to a patrol car. police say they have been looking for him since last week when he allegedly shot and killed a security guard at local motel 6. >> as he was taken into custody, he yelled out, ali-akbar. >> reporter: for now police calling the shooting a random act. >> he made a decision to himself that he was not going to go to jail for shooting a security guard. that he was going to kill as many people as he could today and that's what he set out to do. >> reporter: again, authorities say this was not an act of terrorism. but solely based on race. muhammad charged with four counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

meantime, the manhunt in ohio so-called facebook killing came to an end in a western pennsylvania street. >> police say, steve stephens, shot and killed himself yesterday while trying to escape troopers in erie. he had been on the run since sunday when police say he murdered a stranger in cleveland. then posted the video of the crime online. >> facebook founder, mark zuckerberg, addressed the killing in silicon valley. he said his company has a lot of work to do. he says we will keep doing all we can to prevent tragedies like this. former president george h.w. bush is in the hospital again this morning. we are told he is doing well. the 41st president, admit fried day for recurrence of pneumonia resulted in a persistent cough. that cough didn't allow him to get proper rest. mr. bush's spokesman says the 92-year-old is recovering and is in good spirits. he does remain in the hospital though for observation. breaking overnight, a closely watched congressional election in georgia heading for a runoff.

jon ossoff led the pack of 18 candidates after raising $8 million. he won 48% of the seats held by republicans for more than four decades. he'll face off again with his closest competitor on june 20th. the race was seen by many as a referendum on president trump. the president was back on twitter overnight portraying it as a republican victory. before that, president trump signed executive order pushing his initiative to buy american and hire american. president trump promised to make sure more products are stamped with the words made in the usa. but his america first campaign doesn't always apply to his own dealings or his family's. abc's brian ross found out. >> reporter: before a cheering crowd at a wisconsin factory, the president signed an executive order, to tighten requirements that federal agencies buy american. >> the policy of our government

also tracking developments about former president george h.w. bush. back in the hospital in houston this morning. >> admitted four days ago after a persistent cough prevented him from sleeping. diagnosed with mild case of pneumonia which is what he had also in january. bush's spokesperson says the 92-year-old is resting comfortably and held for observation. vice president mike pence issued a warning to north korea as he continues his visit to japan. pence addressed troops aboard "uss ronald reagan" south of tokyo, vowing an overwhelming and effective response, response, to any use of conventional or nuclear weapons by north korea. he also assured japan the united states was ready to work to resolve the nuclear threat through peaceful means. and we're learning more about the location of an aircraft carrier, the one president trump referred to when he said he was sending an armada to deter north korea. turns out the "uss carl vinson" was no where near the korean peninsula.

3,000 miles away heading in the opposite direction for joint exercises with australian navy. pentagon officials told "the new york times" it was difficult to roll back the story with president trump playing up the use of force. the ship is on course and expected to arrive next week. investigators say the deadly shooting spree in fresno, california, is not a case of terrorism. detectives say kori ali muhammad planned to kill as many white people as he could. he is accused of murdering three men yesterday, all white and killing a security guard last week. police say muhammad had no connection to any victims. facebook ceo mark zuckerberg made first public comments about sunday's killing posted to the site he founded. his statement came hours after the search for steve stephens ended in pennsylvania. authorities say stephens killed himself during a chase after troopers tracked him down at a mcdonald's. he had been on the run since investigators say he shot a great grandfather in cleveland at random. then posted the video online.
