stunning images after a drone battery explodes in massachusetts. it was charging on a pool table. the family was sleeping. but was alerted once the smoke alarm went off. that explosion also captured on surveillance video. a bright flashlighting up the street. the homeowner says he is grateful the family was home, otherwise their home would have been destroyed. there is growing outcry this morning over a piece of video that surfaced recently from florida. a 10-year-old boy with autism, arrested, hand cuffed, all at his school. >> it was all caught on cell phone video by his own mother. abc's clayton sandell has the story. >> reporter: this is 10-year-old john benjamin haygood at school. >> you have the same results as an adult. >> reporter: his mother who says her son has autism, recording a

good morning. i'm gloria riviera in for diane macedo. >> i'm kendis gibson. here are some of the top headlines following this friday morning on "world news now." investigators have been carrying out raids overnight in and around paris. looking for anyone who may have links to that deadly attack on the champs-elysees. three police officers injured after a wild shootout in downtown seattle. the officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect after a robbery. one suspect is dead. two others are in police custody. >> president trump hoping for a breakthrough with the health care bill. saying there is a good chance the house can approve a revised plan by next week. but republican lawmakers are skeptical about getting enough support. at least so quickly. and fox news is facing fresh fallout over news of a reported $25 million golden

parachute severance package for bill o'reilly amid mounting sexual harassment allegations against its ousted host. those are some of the top stories on friday, april 21st. >> announcer: from abc news, this is "world news now." we do say good morning. we'll start the half-hour with breaking news here in the states. arkansas executing its first inmate in 12 years with the help of the supreme court. >> lidell lee was just executed before midnight as his death warrant was about to expire. the justices intervened after a flurry of legal challenges over a lethal injection drug. >> abc's danya bachus with more. >> reporter: an arkansas inmate put to death. >> earlier this afternoon. lidell lee received as his last meal request, communion. >> reporter: attorneys making one last push to save his life. filing a civil rights lawsuit to prove his innocence but to no avail. >> these are lawsuits being

filed, are, in a sense, to delay the executions, the lawful executions of these individuals who have been convicted by juries. of absolutely heinous crimes. >> reporter: lidell lee's execution was on hold due to a temporary restraining order on one of the drugs. the medical supplier, claimed the state purchased the drug last year under false pretenses without saying it would be used in executions. lee is just one of eight inmates scheduled to be put to death in arkansas this month. >> the death penalty is on its way out. >> reporter: state officials actually expedited the time line because another one of the lethal injection drugs is set to expire at the end of april. the back and forth legal battle now ending with lee's death. as those other death row inmates wait to learn their fate. this is the first time in 12 years an inmate has been executed in arkansas. danya bacchus, abc news, los angeles. >> danya, thank you for the

breaking news update there. now to paris where the city remains on high alert and security forces still on the streets this morning after the deadly attack on the champs-elysees. >> the gunman opened fire with an automatic weapon sending people scrambling to safety. the shooter targeted police, killing one officer. before security forces shot and killed him. >> now investigators are looking for others who may have helped the attacker. who isis is claiming is one of their own. abc's kenneth moton with the latest. >> reporter: the iconic, champs-elysees, in paris on lockdown. one of the most beautiful streets in the world, the scene of a terror attack on police. at 9:00 p.m., a car pulled up next to a police vehicle. a gunman armed with military style weapon. jumped out and opened fire. one officer killed. another wounded. a bystander hit.

they're able to do nat, but i have absolute confidence that he will be trying very, very hard. >> referring to the president of china there. in the meantime the white house is sending a message that the u.s. interests in asia, extend far beyond the korean peninsula and china. vice president mike pence made a stop in indonesia during his ten-day asian tour. looking to reaffirm the importance of what he says is strategic partnership with world's most populous muslim country. a 15-year-old tennessee girl will be reunited with her grateful family today. more than a month after police say she was kidnapped by her 50-year-old former teacher. police tracked down the pair after a nationwide manhunt. living in a cabin in a remote part of northern california. they say the girl was physically okay, but they're concerned about her mental and emotional health. her former teacher, tad cummins is in custody facing a slew of federal charges and many years in prison. fans will not be hearing any new music from prince today. the first anniversary of his

can choose to actually make marriage a really fun adventure. >> on this adventure with nick, your new husband, where did you get the best advice, most applicable advice that you are putting into your life every day? >> every single day. so we met this crazy marriage therapist in the jungle of mexico. who gave us this really useful advice that -- every night before we go to bed, we actually talk to each other for five minutes. the other person can't talk. they just listen for five minutes. and, that's -- that's tough. >> really hard. but more about the listening than it is about the talking. it helped us get out all the things weird, strange, that we didn't know we wanted to talk about early on in our marriage. been great. doing it since the day after we got married. >> i love it. give us, not just, brides, grooms, newlyweds. anybody in a marriage. best five tips you learned on the journey? >> the french are serious that you should close the bathroom door. too many americans are not closing the bathroom door. it leads to again, board boredo

on thursday it sure seemed president trump thinks they can. one month after the gop pulled their health care bill, new signs that an amendment to the bill could please conservative and moderate republicans. >> we have a good chance of getting it soon. >> reporter: the proposal would restore obama's requirement that insures prescription drugs, maternity care and mental health services. in an effort to please conservatives, states would be allowed to obtain waivers to abandon the requirement. obamacare prevents insurers from charging sick higher premiums than healthy consumers. additional waivers would allow states to opt out of this. >> we'll see what happens. but this is a great bill, a great plan. and, this will be great health care. it's -- evolving. >> reporter: the trump administration is desperate for a legislative victory on health care. as the 100 day mark of their administration approaches. >> there is no give-up. we started. remember, it took obamacare 17

months. i have really been negotiating this for two months maybe less than that. >> reporter: congress returns tuesday, republicans have been quietly negotiating during the spring recess. although the amendment may gain some votes this time around, the amendment could turn some lawmakers away. representative dan donovan of new york told associated press, he remains a no vote. partly because the legislation would increase medicaid costs for his constituents. every time they move the scrimmage line, you risk losing other people who were yes, but this changes them to a no. house republicans have a conference call scheduled for saturday where members will be briefed on the latest health care developments. but, let's not forget that congress only has one week to avert a government shutdown. that will likely take priority over health care. >> does it seem like they're making any progress with that at all at this point? >> government shutdown. a lot of questions, actually, president trump was asked about that today. going to be the government
