pinned under the car so emergency crews have arrived on the scene, and you still have the two left lanes blocked and you are back up solid to state route 37, and listening to scanner traffic there, and it's sounding like they are going to make it a sigalert soon. drive times coming up in less than ten. the two groups that invited ann coulter are threatening to sue berkeley. >> amy hollyfield is live for us this morning on campus. amy. >> reporter: hi. good morning. berkeley once again in the national spotlight. we just talked to a student who is saying he wishes this would all just go away. organizers of coulter's appearance are now saying they will sue the university if officials don't change their minds by 5:00 this afternoon. the university has postponed her appearance by a week saying police have received a creditable security threat for the original date.

tests done by a mechanical engineer show no apparent cause for the carbon monoxide poisoning obtained for their deaths. valerie and roger were found dead in their apartment, and both had high levels of carbon ma tphubonoxide in their blood. 6:03. we have details on the kidnapped teen from tennessee found safe in northern california. this after a nearly 5-week-long nationwide manhunt. tad cummins faces state and federal charges of kidnapping and having sex with the girl. yesterday sheriff deputies found thomas safe in a remote area of cecilville, a few hours from redding. they received a tip from a local that they were staying at a cabin on his property. he spoke with "good morning

breaking news from the abc7 news live desk. >> tracking news in fairfield where police are investigating a shooting near cement road and peabody road located next to travis air force base, and it's an industrial area by the base. one person hit by gunfire has been taken to the hospital and police say there is no word on any condition yet.

please get to your tv. keep your eye on the firefighter there. did you see just what happened? it's hard to tell, but he is catching a baby boy dropped from a two-story window yesterday. imagine the parents' decision here, right? the dad is upstairs inside their apartment when there is all this smoke and fire and the firefighters yell down to him, hey, drop the boy. and he has to make the split decision and he trusted the firefighter to do so. luckily it all worked out okay. but that would be such a hard decision to make. >> right. right. 6:15. a 3-year-old boy in new york is recovering after being attacked on a pit bull. we want to warn you you may find this disyou shalling. the video shows the dog running across the street and attacking

the boy. the boy was able to get up and the dog went after him again and somebody grabbed him. neighbors say they called police several times about the dog running loose in recent weeks and the police took custody of the dog. and then according to the examiners, the deadline was pushed back to 2022. and the proposal was changed to allow 10% of the fleet to be hybrid cars. it would cost up to $95 million to bring the nearly 5,900 city cars down to zero emissions. and tesla founder elon musk wants to connect human brains with computers. four years the company could bring to market a product that could help with certain severe brain injuries. he describes it as

calistoga, about 77 today. great time to be up in the north bay, wine country, mid to upper 70s throughout the the east bay. and just about everybody 80 in our inland valleys, and heading to livermore, speaking of wine country, 80 there. tonight 45 to 52 degrees with high clouds increasing during the overnight hours. we will lose about six to eight degrees tomorrow, and another two to four degrees sunday. hold study on monday and then a chance of rain. it's light on our storm impact scale for tuesday into wednesday morning. hey, alexis. >> good morning. westbound 80 no change. we still have our sigalert at redwood street. we have a crash involving a car and motorcycle and that motorcycle is lodged underneath the car from what we understand, and the two left lanes are blocked and it sounds like that's going to be a while. we have not gotten word on injuries about the rider there but we will update you as soon as we have information on that. the backup is steady around state route 37.

every since she moved here basically. this is going to be the highlight of the warmth, right? >> this will be the warmest day, and cloud cover and wind reversal over the weekend and still comfortable but not as warm as today. and it's a one and done in the 80s. live doppler 7 showing the conditions. high clouds and that's the warm air surging in right now. and 48 to 51 at 7:00. 63 to already 70 in some areas at noon. 65 at the coast, and mid to upper 70s elsewhere. 58 to 71 degrees. we will talk about a chance of rain also next week in the accuweather 7-day forecast. we had a really quiet start but we have a crash right now involving a motorcycle, and the details we have gotten it sounds like the bike was actually stuck under a car so we don't have any word on the extent of the injuries but we have the backup

from state route 37 and the sigalert has been issued. you can stick to state route 29 or 680 for an alternate. and a live look at the san mateo bridge, and we will talk about that and check that drive time coming up next. new this morning, a mess in the south bay where a car drove into a building. >> tiffany wilson live for us in san jose. tiffany. >> reporter: it's a good thing this accident happened overnight because nobody was inside of the building when the car veered off of jackson avenue and slammed into the tree completely flattening it and ended up in the side of the medical office building. can you see the damage there. if you take a look at the video can you see the suv as it is lodged into the side of the building. now the video also shows water streaming out of the building. the fire department had to turn off the water supply to the building to stop that water. now when police and fire arrived here on the scene they say the

driver had already taken off, so they are not sure where that driver is this morning. as i said, again, nobody was in the building so no injuries to report. there's been a building engineer out here for the past several hours inspecting the damage. you can see the caution tape on the inside of the building but i spoke with the representative for the regional medical hospital owner and they basically said they re-open this building for business. a man and woman are in jail this morning on attempted murder charges. this is unbelievable. police say it's an alleged plot to kill an 11-month-old baby, and worse still, this may not be the first time these two suspects tried to kill that child. the mother said the father asked the mother to meet him at

mcdonald's to see his son, and instead his girlfriend was there and shot a single shot at close range but somehow ended up missing the mom and the child. now the aunt of the father says she doesn't believe her nephew could be involved in this. >> he would never ever -- i'm saying ever be involved in nothing like this. >> court documents reveal the father that you see on the left there, and his girlfriend on the right, had a 5-year-old child together and they tried to kill the baby we are talking about here once before. at the end of the march the father was accused of luring the mother and baby to a location where the girlfriend tried to run them over with the car and they are not revealing a possible motive. a teenage girl that disappeared more than a month ago was found yesterday in a remote area of california.

>> tad cummins has been charged with taking a minor across state lines to have sex. they were found in cecilville after a nationwide manhunt. the girl's father, anthony thomas told "good morning america" this morning that the family is relieved his daughter is coming home but knows there's a long road ahead. >> there's going to be therapy involved. it's going to take some time, and because we love her so much, you know, we are going to be patient with her and we are going to be -- we have to get her the help she needs. >> cummins is scheduled to be arraigned this morning, and he's awaiting extradition to tennessee and that could take several weeks. breaking news from the abc7 live desk. >> welcome back. i amtr tracking breaking news o of texas. a north carolina soldier was

murdered. the soldier was shot to death monday of this week and found dead in a vacant lot. he has been identified as a 19-year-old private justin antwaan lewis. he's from north carolina. our first look at him right now, and he only had been at ft. hood in texas since february of this year. a very young man, but had a service medal and army service ribbon and they are investigating the murder case. the man accused of shooting and killing three men in downtown fresno is going to be arraigned for another murder. yesterday the district attorney charged kori muhammad in the debt of a security guard at a motel s6 last week. the d.a. is waiting for more information before making charges concerning the shooting spree this week. and still looking for a dangerous burglar that shot

somebody and in the process of all this exhibited pretty strange behavior. the homes were located in the oakland hills and the first townhome hit was a man you see right there that was listening to music upstairs and the burglar entered downstairs. >> entered, locked my dog in the backyard by moving a piece of furniture in front of the dog door, and then went in my refrigerator and through closets and stole nothing but exhibited through the front door. >> he stole nothing of value but did take string cheese and a soda from the fridge, and then grabbed a sandwich in another home, and then he found a resident in another kitchen and shot that resident. police are trying to look at a surveillance video and id this man. man. the police chief

announced his resignation. he said he agreed to take a job with another undisclosed agency. rojas was appointed as santa ana's police chief three years ago and began his career as a patrol officer 27 years ago. no official word yet from b.a.r.t. and in paris a deadly attack on a police bus. we are looking at the iconic area that appears to be back to routine this morning. a gunman killed an officer and wounded two others before he was shot and killed. the shooter has been identified and police are not releasing his name yet because of the ongoing investigation. abc news learned the suspect spent years in prison for trying to kill police officers. he was released in 2015. here's a look at the initial moments right after the shooting, the acting director of

the state news agency that you see in that video had to take cover. he was saying to the camera there has been a shooting in paris, and isis claimed responsibility for that attack. new details on the plans to repeal and replace the affordable care act. president trump expressed optimism the bill could be passed this next week with a key amenment. it would offer limited waivers to states that want to do it differently as long as the states can prove it will lower the cost of health care or increase coverage. switching gears. 6:38. happening today, comic-con kicks off in san jose. last year's event attracted 60,000 people over three days. it features celebrities, comic books and apps. and adam west and william

on to developing news at uc berkeley now, the two groups that invited ann coulter to speak there are threatening to sue the university. >> amy hollyfield is on campus to explain what is going on. amy. >> reporter: students we talked to this morning say they wish this would all go away. ann coulter says she is coming and planning to be here on the original date, which is next thursday. now the university wants to postpone her speech until the following tuesday because of a

holding steady on monday and then a light storm on the storm impact scale for tuesday into wednesday. good morning. not too much has changed with our traffic alert here. will take you up to vallejo, westbound 80. we have a crash at redwood street and the details did not sound great. it sounded like a sport bike was underneath a car. an ambulance was called to the scene but did not get word of the extent of the injuries to the driver and we are waiting for the tow truck to arrive now. and you are solid north route 70. a two car crash cleared from the bridge at 92, and backed up to almost 880, and down to 13 and 11 miles per hour. dumbarton bridge wide open if you want to use that for an alternate. our star is a man with autism overcoming the odds.
