it is saturday april 22nd, good morning, thanks so much for joining us, i'm chris nguyen. let's start with a first look at the forecast. here's lisa argen, she is tracking live doppler 7 for us. >> hi, chris. notice the northern part of the bay looking at clouds or sprifrgles. elsewhere, it's clear, temperatures are on the cool side. as we check out the perspective from live doppler 7 and widen the view, you notice the activities, the cloud cover and sprinkles, we will be left with high clouds, making for a nice sunrise, low 50s in san francisco and san jose. oakland 51. 47 in gilroy. 43 in half moon bay, from our roof camera, you can see the high clouds there. 46 in novato. 45 in livermore. if you are headed out early, your earth planner calls for numbers in the 60s.

mainly by noon time. a mild afternoon with low 70 in our inland valleys, 60s and breezy at the coast, chris. >> lisa, thank you. the time now approaching 6:o 1 on our saturday morning. passengers at sfo came to the defense after a tearful number after theyay a flight attendant nearly whacked her baby with a stroller. in this case there has been a much quicker response than the airlines involved over what could have become an international incident. abc 7 news anchor explains. >> reporter: a mother holding her baby openly wept in front of an american ierls plane full of xaengss waiting to leave sfo. passengers came to her defense after they say a flight attendant violently grabbed her stroller, hitting her, just missing one of her children. >> very upset. the flight attendant yanked it,

pulled it up. violently yanked it and stormed off the plane with it. >> reporter: he took the video and this picture which appears to show the woman and her children being escorted a off the plane. passengers say they were traveling from argentina, she may not have understood instructions to check the stroller at the gate. she stood there in tear, one man's anger escalated. >> hey, bud, you do that to me, i'll knock you on your pleep pleep. >> the tension builds a it is employee appeared to edge him on into a fight. >> he explains why he got involved. >> that baby almost got hurt. >> that fired me up. so that was it. i don't want to make a big deal about it. >> reporter: they removed the employee from duty. in a statement the spokes woman says, what we see on this video does not reflect our values or how we care for our customers. we are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other

customers affected by the incident. >> american airlines allows one stroller to be checkled at the gate for free. passengers cannot take strollers onto the plane. the spokes woman for american says the airline upgraded the woman and her family on the next flight, where the crew took special care of them. if you want to watch that video from inside the plane in its entirety, go to our abc 7 news app or abc 7 news.com, in san francisco, power has been fully restored after an outage shut down a large portion of the city. it affected 88,000 customers. it all started at a pg & e substation at larkin and eddie. sky 7 was above the station. a circuit failed and shut down the power. electricity did not return to many customers until 5:00 last

night. drivers struggled throughout the day as 300 traffic lights went out in the city. you can imagine, it was one of the many problems caused by the outage. abc 7 news has the story. >> reporter: the street lights are reset, businesses are open again, there is still fallout from the power out annual. at schroeders down town, there were plenty of elderly. >> this evening has been slower than usual, especially for a friday. >> reporter: rush hour traffic was lighter than usual, because so many people left early. ? i could basically go home. i went home and it was still out. >> reporter: no power at home, she brought friends to a restaurant in the marina, which was closed. some of her neighbors made the best of it. >> we decided, okay, wwill not get much done today, it's a beautiful day. let's make a picnic and go to the beach. >> today was a san francisco snow day. that meant that you couldn't get

a school. you couldn't do normal things. >> reporter: her son and his friends did go to school but got out early. >> did you still have class? >> not exactly. we didn't sister to do any work today. >> if you go to the restaurant, there is no light, so we had to use this freaky candles. >> speaking of bathrooms, it helps to have a big purse and a plan. >> i brought my proceed dryer and curling iron to the office. >> reporter: stalled elevators were another problem. san francisco fire crews responded to 41 elevator rescue calls. the wower outage stranded two window washers at 650 camp. street. their platform was stuck when the electricity went out. they were stranded for several hours suspended above the street t. workers were eventually rescued and are doing oka

>> bart passengers were left in the dark at the montgomery street station when the outage first hit. train service was running but the lights went out and escalators stopped running. bart officials closed the station as a precaution until generators were brought in. st. francis hospital and california pacific medical center remained opened but with limited services. both have emergency generators running. st. francis finished generators under way. cpmc performed only ergency surgeries. no there was one upside to yesterday's mess. tourists found it easier to take selfies on the cable cars within they weren't moving. the tracks are fine, without traffic signals the cable cars aren't safe to operate. push alerts on the power out annual all day long. even people who didn't have power could receive them and get the updates. to get break news where you

plaque male adults in construction attire. >> they waited until, beingifies and they came up, hey, you know, really casual, really playing the part. it's almost like lifetime criminal. they're good at what they do. >> reporter: police say all three drove off in this mu model challenger with paper plates. investigators are looking into any possible connections. they believe this man came into case the store a week ago. >> that customer you saw cringing on the floor, right after the robbery, he ended up buying the watch he was shopping for. in walnut creek, abc 7 news. >> the man accused of killing several people has been deemed mentally competent to stand trial. he has been charged in the 2012 mass shooting at oikos

university. it was put on hold indefinitely after a judge determined he had a mental illness. he will be back in court wednesday. in berkeley, they called off a massive search for a man reported to be armed with a gun. sky 7 was over the neighborhood just west of martin luther king park as officers went from yard to yard. they had their guns drawn and use k-9s. however, they did not find the man. new details about the former teacher in richmond. our media partner the east bay times, reports he was sentenced to 931 years in prison. he taught at making waves academy and founded a youth program, where he took 11 and 12-year-old boys and molested them. the judge ordered him to pay $1 million in restitution to each of the 15 victims. this morning, a san jose teacher is facing child important

charges. authorities say they found images on 41-year-old john hayden's home computer. hayden was arrested at pioneer high school where she a teacher. police say he has no prior record of inappropriate conduct. thatry investigating his previous employment to make shoo you are there is no other possible police activity. police have arrested someone in a san francisco opera house earlier this month. eight computers were stolen from the officers on april 6th. san francisco police arrested albert brown last week. they have not released a booking photograph, nor have they recovered the computers. all right, it is still 10 past the hour on our saturday morning. lisa, a beautiful, the sun is getting ready to rise, you see that shot behind us, it is so nice. >> a few high clouds adding to the drama out there. more clouds in the north bay. temperatures are in the 40s and 50s right here, 53 in the city. 52 in concord.

>> new this morning, the san diego police department's first transgender officer is opening up about her experience as a cop. christine garcia was born christopher, got married and had two kids. but two years ago, garcia transitioned from male to dpe mail. she says her fellow officers and her wife have been supported. they've have new policies including using the pronoun they identify with and the name they want not listed on their cell phone. they have people to call to report hate crimes. >> you don't feel comfortable reporting to politician. i have responded at home to take a report of hate crimes to talk to them about complaints they've had against other officers.

the bay to our inld valleys. so enjoy the milder weather, cooler air is on the way for the second half of your weekend. it will last through much of the upcoming workweek. i'll explain in a few minutes. lisa, thank you. president trump is closing in on his first 100 days in office. with a milestone a week away from today, president trump is pushing for action on a health care deem and promising to unveil a massive tax cut package, abc chief correspondent jonathan carl has more. >> reporter: president trump was greeted with cheers as we walked into the treasury department. he was there to sign yet another executive order designed to cut regulations, he also dropped this surprise. >> we will be having a big announcement on wednesday, having to do with tax reform. >> reporter: the president tells a.p. he will propose a massive tax cut, adding he believes it will be bigger than any tax cut ever. this comes as the president

nears a key milestone, his first 100 days in office. during the campaign, he made big promises about those first 100 days. >> just think about what we can accomplish in the first 100 days, it's a set of promises for what i'll do in my first 100 days. my reform plan will lift millions out of poverty, raise wages dramatically and create at least 25 million you jobs in ten years. and we can enact the whole plan in our first 100 days. >> reporter: there have been accomplishments. he slashed regulation, he has a supreme court justice confirmed. but this president hadn't managed to get congress to pass any major bill yet. his effort toass health care earlier fail, his travel ban as bn blocked by the cou ban and there is still no movement on that border wall. now, trump is down playing the 100 day marker, tweeting about what he called the ridiculous

nert stands for neighborhood emergency response team. volunteers will set up command centers and other disaster response skills. today's training starts at 9:00 this morning at marina middle school. college students can now buy emergency contraception as easily as a can of soda. they arrived in the recreation center at uc davis earlier this month. it offers tam upons,ed a victim, pregnancy tests, condoms and plan b, often called the morning after pim. it's the result of two years of hard work by former uc davis senator. i'm more skeptical and negativity i got, like it's not going to happen kind of pushed me more. >> under the obama administration in 2013, plan b became available to women of all ages without a prescription. davis is one of the handful of campuses nationwide to have there kind of access to emergency contraception.

this gas pipeline ruptured in san bruno. the explosion and fire killed eight people. pg&e was convicted of six felony charges including five violations of the u.s. pipeline safety act and obstructing an ntsb investigation. pg&e was fined, placed under an outside monitor, given five years of probation, and required to perform 10,000 hours of community service. we are deeply sorry. we failed our customers in san bruno. while an apology alone will never benough, actions can make pg&e safer. and that's why we've replaced hundreds of miles of gas pipeline, adopted new leak detection technology that is one-thousand times more sensitive, and built a state-of-the-art gas operations center. we can never forget what happened in san bruno. that's why we're working every day to make pg&e the safest energy company in the nation.
