slowly this morning and into the afternoon, 59 in concord and winds will be a factor today. especially on the coast. numbers in the 50s now. low 60s around the bay and inland at noontime. 70 should be the warmest location by about 4:00. mostly sunny skies. clouds increase tonight. the storm impact scale to talk about for tomorrow. chris? >> lisa, thank you. happening now, in france, the first round of the country's hotly contested presidential election is under way. we're taking a live look at a polling place in paris where it is now 6:00 in the evening. back here in the bay area, french citizens lined up for hours yesterday for early voting. abc 7 news reporter kate larson has the story. >> a contentious election resulting in violence on the streets of paris. as a vote with global impact is under way in france and across the world. here in the bay area, french citizens lined up at the polls in berkeley and san francisco. >> i think they're all decent candidates. doesn't matter who you vote

political office. former president barack obama called him to offer his support. >> the main message i have is that to wish you all the best in the coming days. >> reporting in san francisco, kate larson, abc 7 news. cafe ba steel in in in san francisco is opening early to broadcast the results. the final election will take place on may 7th. 9:04 is the time. developing news out of the east bay. hayward police are investigating a shooting that left a 21-year-old man dead in an area near college heights park. it happened just after 8:00 last night on fielding drive. officers found the man with gunshot wounds. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. right now, police do not have a suspect in custody. in the skout bay, investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that gutted a home. abc 7 news was at the scene as crews surrounded the fire near west fremont avenue and highway

85. firefighters faced dangerous conditions when they went inside. they had to retreat from the burning burning home at 7:30 last night. >> we started having fire breakthrough the roof itself. it became unsafe because the roof has solar panels on top. also, we started having roof collapse. the roo is compromised because of fire. that adds more weight for the roof to have a quicker collapse. >> thankfully, all of the residents were able to escape. one of them had to be treated for a minor injury. once it is safe, investigators will look to see how the fire started. happening told, the city of emeryville is giving back to the community this earth day weekend. the community services department is asking anyone who wants to help with cleaning up shore bird park to bringing buckets, gloves and water bot ms. they're conducting a brief training that started at 9:00 a.m. at chevy's restaurant on cal street. also today, oakland firefighters and police officers will be on hand to help clear brush for a

community workday. vom tiers will clean up memorial hospital claire park, as well as mountain boulevard along the highway 13 fence. this started at 9:00 a.m. at the park on moraga avenue. they marched here in the u.s., europe and even antarctica. in the bay area, thousands rallied for science and called out those who deny or denounce it. abc 7 news reporter, cornell bernard has the details. >> reporter: a celebration of earth day at uc berkeley. these marchers support science and say climate change and global warming is real. >> only have one planet. it's really important to fight for it and protect it. ♪ >> reporter: in san francisco, market street was packed wall to wall with thousands of marchers for science. becky brought her daughter from oakland. >> i believe that science is not something we should have to be marching for. yet, with the current administration, it's something

that's threatened. >> reporter: many believe president trump has shown little respect for the importance of science. >> basic things are under attack which i don't support. i'm also here because i believe science itself and tech noll, regardless of who the president is should be more clue sif. >> the march made its way and students came with science classes. >> because i want to save the earth. >> our planet under attack. >> before the march, san francisco supervisor jeff sheehey who was hiv positive, told the crowd science saved his life. >> we're demanding continued -- into further noknowledge of our planet and to save countless lives. >> mythbusters says -- we want to leave a better world for our kids and families and loved ones and can community.

we can have a discussion about moving forward if we believe that. >> president trump said my administration is commit today advancing scientific research that leads to a better understanding of our environment and of environmental risks. >> reporter: science marchers hope common ground can be reached. they say the environment should not be a partisan issue. in berkeley, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. abc 7 news was also in san jose yesterday as people from all walks of life gathered at city hall to march for science. two marchers shared insight on what motivated them to join the event. >> well, we're here to march for science. we support making decisions based on fact and evidence and not on ideology and ignorance. >> celebrating the amazing things that science does f us. there's fol who have had organ transplants,ic procedures, cures for diseases. >> organizers also told us they'd like to see politicians of all parties support science education and scientific

projects across the country. >> the city of hayward estimates more than a thousand people marched along the shoreline yesterday. they held signs such as science, not silence. and ice has no agenda. it just melts. the shoreline could be devastated by climate change with destructive flooding and erosion. time now is 9:09 and still to come, a mixed bag for president trump as he approaches 100 days in office. a new poll shows what those who voted for him are thinking now. but first, as we head to break, here's a live look from our sue troe tower camera. it's very nice. but don't get used to it, though. changes are on the way. lisa argen r

new this morning, as president trump approaches his 100th day in office this coming saturday, a new poll shows he has the lowest approval rating at this point of any president in polls since 1945. according to a new abc news "washington post" poll, 42% of americans approve and 53% disapprove of president trump's performance. the poll also found that 96% of those who supported him in november say they would vote for him today. on his 100th day in office, the president will hold a rally for his supporters in pennsylvania instead of attending the white house correspondent's dinner. no white house staff plan to

attend the dinner. happy days actress erin moran has died. a crew found her unresponsive in indiana. authorities have not said how she side. the actress was 56 years old. her happy days co-stars are tweeting about their friend. ron howard such sad, sad news. i'll always choose to remember you on our show making scenes better, getting laughs and now you will finally have the peace you wanted so badly here on earth. rest in it serenely now. follvolunteer dentists are holding a free dental clinic on the peninsula. volunteers transformed an exhibit hall into a giant dental office. yesterday, the dentists served about 1,000 people. all of dentists worked on their day off to help community members, many of whom have a hard time paying for dental work. >> it's just as rewarding for the volunteers as it is for the

up to him. they say he took away a mother's stroller and just missed her kids. they're urging the company and the public not to rush to judgment until the full story comes out. the union also reminds passengers that it is against federal law to threaten a flight attendant with violence. that flight attendant is on paid live while the airline investigates. tight schedules, overcrowded planes, smaller seats and limited overhead bin space are to blame for the recent rise in clashes between passengers and crew. american refunded the mother's ticket, gave her a $1,000 travel voucher and put her and her family on a first class flight back to their home country of argentina. the warriors took a commanding lead over the trailblazers to erase a deficit. they're up through 3-0 in the series. they had do it without their coach. steve kerr would miss the game because of illness. it's unclear if it's related to

from the golden gate bridge, little breezy there. but boy, enjoy the sunshine today. 61 already in novato. 59 in concord. we didn't go that low overnight. in fact, we were in the mid-50s due to the wind and the cloud cover. we are looking at breezes along the coast that will keep us a little bit on the cool side. so the warming being offset here from, say, point rays all the way to the san mateo coast because of the breezy winds. another vantage pointrom sfo, where they've had travel delays due to the construction but otherwise, sunshine. chance of rain tomorrow. sunny and warmer by the end of the week. we're talking much, much warmer. so our storm impact scale, just a minor one tomorrow. it's a 1 tomorrow. isolated showers mainly in the north bay. but you can see them anywhere by monday night into tuesday. less than a tenth of an inch when we add monday and tuesday together. mostly sunny skies today. a few clouds around. the clouds increase and check out this. 10:00 tomorrow morning.

could see mist and drizzle, but it's really throughout the bulk of the afternoon where we look at a spotty shower and then by tuesday, overnight most of it is off-shore. we'll add the totals up from monday into tuesday and you'll notice how scant they are. up to the north bay, maybe a tenth of an inch. couple .01 in san francisco. in the south bay, return to sunshine. up every 60s in san jose. mid-60s closer to sunnyvale. milpitas. right here, breezy winds from half moon bay. 61 in pacifica. 63 downtown. so in the north bay, numbers in the 60s, but if you're in a wind sheltered area, it will feel good in napa at 70. numbers just a little bit shy of average for this time of year in oakland. you head inland and upper 60s from concord to pleasanton. about 70 in antioch. overnight lows, back into the 50s. that's due to the increasing cloud cover and rain is going to stay to the north.

community the dedication is at 1:00 this afternoon at city hall. let's get a last look at the forecast with lisa argen. >> nice day if you can protect yourself from the wind. should be a nice day with numbers in the low to mid-60s by noontime. staying there throughout the afternoon with some breezy winds at times. most of the wind will be along the coast, the peninsula there with low 60s half moon bay. 65 in oakland. upper 60s for the most part. maybe a few 70-degree temperatures in the accuweather seven-day forecast. tomorrow, koom cooler with lots of clouds. showers will be isolated. that continues through the overnight hours. we could see a stray shower on tuesday. after that, we're dry wednesday. thursday, the temperatures turn around around we're looking at temperatures well above average into next weekend. i don't know if we're ready for the 80 yesterday. but it's on the way. >> as for today, a nice one for baseball. the a's having a good week so far. >> terrific. >> lisa, thank you. thanks for joining us on abc 7
