>> eric, we have clouds beginning to thicken in the bay area. skies are still bright, but look at what is happening to our north, northwest just off the north coast of california. we have rain developing there. that's the system coming in our direction to bring us a little rain during overnight hours and tomorrow. relatively light storm. it ranks 1 on the storm impact scale. it will produce rain early in the morning, mainly in the north bay initially. then it will spread as light rain and showers across other parts of the bay area into the midday and evening hours. we expect less than 1/10 of an inch of rainfall or accumulation of rainfall total i should say across the bay area, but it is going to slow down the morning commute. i'll give you a closer look at the storm and when it will end a little later. eric? >> spencer, thank you very much. developing news, warriors steve kerr will be out for game 4 in portland because of health issues and that could stretch further into the playoffs. sports anchor mike shumann is live in is in excruciating pain. >> reporter: well, no question, eric. today bob meyers, the general

manager, was going to speak. mike brown who coached for him in last night's victory spoke earlier and we were expecting bob meyers. turns out it was steve kerr who came along to speak. and yesterday in the shoot arnd they said he was under little suspicious. steph curry gave him the game ball afterwards. you don't get a game ball for having cold or flu. i think it got out, everybody knew it and steve figured why send bob meyers down to speak. he was going to go ahead and take it and we asked him if he's going to come back. he's going to be out, what's the situation with where he stands right now. >> this is not going to be a case where i'm coaching one night, not coaching the next. i'm not going to do that to our team, to our staff. we're hoping that over, you know, the next week or two, whatever it is, you know, i can sort of make a definitive realization or deduction or just feel it that, you know, i'm going to do this or i'm not.

>> well, he's dealing with his doctors to figure out where he goes next. meanwhile mike brown will be on the side line again tomorrow night. he coached the warriors from the come behind win last night and today. he talked about the organization and how concerned they are about kerr. >> obviously we have some good guys that care a lot about not just steve, but everybody else and each other especially. i think if it was a younger group and the communication wasn't as open as it is right now, maybe there would be some concern. everybody obviously is concerned for steve as an individual or as a person. but the way that steve and bob have communicated to the group, i think it's kind of put everybody's mind at ease at least for the time being. >> reporter: well, the warriors don't need motivation to win another nba championship. this is becoming kind of a win one for the giper and they all would love to do that.

reporting in portland, mike shumann, abc 7 news, eric. >> and we have a story coming up about the 49ers having streets named after them. i think we found the manhole cover that will be named after you. a lot of travelers are caught off guard. a live look at sfo you can you can see the work being done on a runway. it has passengers wondering why it is affecting their travel plans at all. abc 7 newseporters live at sfo with more. sergio? >> reporter: eric, we talked to plety of frustrated passengers who are simply delayed or experiencing canceled flights. there are some airlines that are even resorting to routing their incoming flight to neighboring airports like oakland or san jose mineta internationals. this is the reason for delays and rerouting. construction crews have one runway closed. part of a project that will continue through july. they are repaving the runway and then reinstalling l.e.d. center

line lights that are used to guide planes during take off and landing. inside the terminals, we saw befuddled passengers trying to figure out if theirs is one of the delayed or canceled flights today. >> i'm not happy. they have construction on the runway, they're supposed to not book flights. why are they booking flights, getting us tangled up in this situation. >> no i'm not happy. i have to be here until after 7:00 tonight. i won't get to my final destination until after midnight. >> reporter: much of the construction is being conducted in the overnight hours, but on each sunday through the summer, one runway will have to be closed. according to one passenger who is trying to get to s.f.o. from portland on alaska airlines, his flight will be routed down to san jose mineta and then the airline is going to put passengers on a bus and then bring them up here to s.f.o. now, i have reached out to a few airlines to ask them if they've made any accommodations because of these -- this construction

>> muhammad said he shot at four white men, killing three of them and nearly shot a woman and her child. >> i'm glad none of them got hit. i'm so glad. i probably couldn't live with myself if i had hit a woman and a child. i didn't have no intentions of hurting any women or children. >> muhammad will undergo a psychiatric evaluation before being arraigned on may 12. a big honor for san francisco sports legends. the city announcing members of the 49ers and giants will have streets named after them. cornell is live at city hall where the announcement was made. cornell? >> reporter: eric, it's not often you get so many legends in one place. we're talking about rice, we're talking about clark, just to name a few. new neighborhood in san francisco will soon bear their names. there is a vacant lot and a lot of dirt where the old candle stick used to be.

a new neighborhood is planned on the site. the street names may ring a bell. former 49er great jerry rice holds up a new street sign bearing his name. he and others will be immortalized at the new stick in a new development. >> i never thought i would have a street name named after me. it's a great recognition and i'm fortunate. >> reporter: legends from the 49ers and giants are getting the honor and everybody who made it happen. >> everybody that put on a san francisco 49ers uniform made this all possible and made it possible for the city. >> that is so gorgeous. >> reporter: the late coach bill walsh was also honored. former quarterback joe montana wanted his street sign to be changed. >> i would like to share this with a very special person, and i'd like to change this to montana-clark drive. >> reporter: dwight clark was alongside montana after he

loved ones they lost in that horrible event. >> lighting candles to keep the memory alive of the horrors of the holocaust and the power of the people who resisted and the people who survived. >> organizers say the goal is to make sure to keep the memory of those lost alive for the younger generation and for generations to come. new rules went into effect this weekend allowing people to park in traffic lanes in one san francisco neighborhood. abc 7 news was on dolores street. that's where you can now parka long the medians during certain hours on friday evenings, saturdays and sundays. the new policies come after residents complained about congestion. many people have parked along that median for years while they wore shipped at nearby churches or visited dolores park. coming up on abc 7 news at 6:00, some of the 49ers traded in their uniforms for formal wear. they were dressed up to visit children at the hospital. could we see a week without rain? spencer christian is up next with the accuweather forecast. >> i'm rick kwan.

star athletes from the 49ers made one prom extra special for some bay area teens. players showed up at the ucsf benioff hospital prom friday night. the niners shared this video with us. it's a chance for about 200 teenagers who are hospital bound to have a real prom experience. newly signed wide receiver pierre said his first community event with the team was a great introduction to his young fans. >> the prom, i couldn't ask for a better theme to dress up and meet the young kids at the community especially at the children's hospital here in san francisco. it's an amazing thing and just happy to be a part of it. >> everyone attending got a professional prom photo. >> announcer: now your accuweather forecast with spencer christian. >> okay, let's start with live doppler 7 showing we have bright, almost sunny skies across the bay area right now. but clouds are beginning to become more noticeable and they will thicken during the overnight hours as some light rainfall arrives. let me show you where that rain is at the moment. it is well up to the northwest, northwest of the bay area, i should say.

it is already hitting the northern coast of california and moving in our direction. and winds are picking up right now. it's gusting out there, gusts ranging from 25 to 35 miles per hour. strongest gust at this moment at napa, 33 miles per hour. 26 miles per hour at s.f.o. if you see the flags flapping in the breeze here along embarcadero, this is the view from our rooftop camera at abc 7. it is currently 59 degrees in san francisco. we have low to mid 60s in oakland, mountain view, san jose and gilroy and a cool 57 at half moon bay. this is a view of a partly cloudy to mostly sunny western sky from our east bay hills cara. 66 degrees in santa rosa now, 63 at napa, low to mid 60s a novato, fairfield, concord and 60 at livermore. one more live view from sutro tower. if you look long enough, you might be able to tell the camera is shaking in the breeze as we look northward to the golden gate. it will be breezy overnight with light rain developing first in the north bay then sweeping south ward and eastward. we'll see periods of light rain

and showers through the day into the evening tapering off tomorrow night. it will be sunny and much warmer by the end of the week. before we get there, overnight showers developing, low temperatures main in the low to mid 50s. tomorrow under showery conditions with continued breezy conditions near the coast, we'll see highs ranging from low to mid 60s for the most part. and this storm ranks 1 on the storm impact scale. a storm of light intensity. it will produce rain in the early morning hours. again, mainly north bay but it will sweep south ward and eastward during the day. it will be breezy and we'll see rainfall totals generally under a tenth of an inch. starting midnight tonight or 12:00 a.m. tomorrow, before the morning commute gets underway we'll see patches of light rain developing in the north bay mainly. then it will start to become more widespread and intensify as we get into the mid-morning hours 10:00 or so, that way it will be pushing down south of the golden gate onto the peninsula and across the bay. and it will break up into light scattered showers going into the late afternoon, early evening

hours. but the evening commute may be impacted by wet spots and slow and congested traffic. as we get into late tomorrow night we'll see the rain ending and rainfall totals project will be a few 100s of an inch. one or two locations in the north bay will get a tenth of an inch. that will be higher elevations. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. storm of light intensity, clouds will linger into tuesday, but we're not likely to see rain on tuesday. it will be brighter skies on wednesday and then much sunnier skies toward the end of the week with warm weather in the weekend. high temperatures getting into the low 830s saf0s saturday anda >> weather we normally get. >> yes. >> mike shumann with more sports. >> warriors as we reported earlier in the store, steve kerr will not coach tomorrow night in portland. mike brown for now will take his place on the bench. let's go to portland where mike

shumann is standing by. golden state has a 3-0 lead, but getting there has not been a smooth ride. >> reporter: well, there is no question there, rick. they've had a lot of adversity this year with kevin durant's injury, he missed 19 games, and now head coach steve kerr as we said earlier in the show, he's not going to coach in game four. so, how do they get up 3-0 on portland? well, as typical of the warriors, their bench is so solid that they've got some great performances, including last night from rookie patrick mccow. he had 11 points, four of six shooting, five boards, five assists last night. today interim head coach mike brown spoke about the poise his young rookie guard has shown. >> as time has gone on, he's understood what it takes to stay ready and be ready. you know, he's gone from playing 30 minutes one night to not getting off the bench the next three games. he's just stayed with it, stayed with it, stayed with it. >> we talked earlier in the season you didn't feel

with a minute left, lebron hits the huge 3 to give cleveland a one-int lead. he had 33 points. th time running out, the pacers with the chance to tie, but paul george is way off the mark. cleveland wins 106-102. so, it's more disappointment for pacers president larry bird. the cavs will next play the winner of the toronto-milwaukee series. the season is still young but the giants are digging themselves a big hole. they lost again today to fall seven games out in the national league west. we go to coors field with this little girl had herself a sweet time. so did the rockies, already up 3-0 in the 6th. a base hit brings home a run. par a had a two-rome homer in the fourth. trevor story then follows with a two-run single ending to the day. five in the third innings to allow two runs. they capped off the inning.

colorado wins 8-0, san francisco fall to 6 and 13. it's their worst start since 1983. at the coliseum, these kids had fun even though the a's did not. the game was pretty much decided in the third with the bases loaded. andrew trigz walked nelson cruz. he cleared the bases with the first career grand slam. his fifth homer of the season made it 6-0. seattle erased any doubt in the seventh as cruz connects for a three-run homer. the mariners crews past oakland. the giants have a five game series with the dodgers. the warriors back in action. hopefully they'll have kevin durant back in the lineup. >> the sweet would be nice as well. thanks a lot. furious
